Strawberries are a staple part of a good British summer, and Lidl’s new advert (watch below) shows the journey Lidl’s Scottish strawberries take from farm to table.

At Lidl, we love our fresh British produce, and strawberries are no different. All Lidl strawberries are hand-picked and checked for prime ripeness, and the pickers aim to have them on Lidl shelves within just 48-hours for your freshness.

So with strawberries the hero of summer, Lidl want to hear about your favourite strawberry dishes, drinks and hacks. We’re searching for little twists to the classic strawberries and cream, right through to the biggest summer showstoppers. Perhaps your strawberry speciality is a refreshing drink, adding them to a salad for a picnic twist, or you have a fool-proof tip for hulling. Whatever your tip or recipe is, Lidl want to hear how you use and celebrate, the staple of summer.

Add your ideas and recipes below and you'll be entered into a prize draw to win one of five £50 Lidl vouchers. Any photos are very, very welcome – and of course, we’d love to hear what your little food critics think too!

Thanks and good luck.

Melt chocolate dip the strawberry and place them in the fridge

Ditsy4 · 16/07/2016 08:19

Slice them and put them in Pimms!

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 16/07/2016 08:22

Strawberries pair really well with cheese, they make a welcome addition to the cheeseboard during the summer months

pusinky · 16/07/2016 09:35

just fresh strawberries sprinkled with sugar

finova · 16/07/2016 12:56

We have them just as they are for pudding, better at room temperature.
The guinea pigs love them too and will eat the green tops!

Strawberry coulis here. Just gently boiled up and poured over a baked cheesecake.

Dehydrated strawberries added to flapjacks.

Fresh ones cooked with rhubarb into a crumble - food of the gods.

ThemisA · 16/07/2016 16:17

I liquidise strawberries from the garden and fold it into plain fromage frais for a light breakfast.

Marg2k8 · 16/07/2016 16:19

Very simple, but dip strawberries half into melted chocolate and allow to set.

Strawberries don't last long in our house- they are eaten as they are. Occasionally they make it to a bowl with a bit of squirty cream.

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 16/07/2016 20:09

Natty beat me to it - but here's the recipe for rhubarb & strawberry crumble - sublime! I use Nigella's crumble topping from How to Eat, but I'm surethe BBC one is gorgeous as well.

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 16/07/2016 20:11

Also, dip them in a strawberry coulis and leave for an hour or so - develops the flavour beautifully.

Eva50 · 16/07/2016 21:58

My boys love to make a strawberry smoothie with strawberries, banana, coconut milk and cinnamon. I consider it a waste of strawberries as I like them just as they are!

RACHELSMITH45 · 16/07/2016 22:22

strawberry jam is simple yet can be used in so many ways

•500 g high pectin sugar (jam sugar)
• 1 vanilla pod
• 1 kg ripe strawberries , washed

itmustbemyage · 16/07/2016 23:39

Grown up strawberry pudding- sliced strawberries in a meringue nest covered with whipped cream flavoured with Amaretto liqueur, with crushed Amaretto biscuits sprinkled on top.

ChorusLine69 · 17/07/2016 07:00

Chopped up on porridge with a splash of honey - encourages DS to eat it!

redbook · 17/07/2016 07:25

Add strawberries to the nutribullet when making green smoothies. Strawberries seem to have a strong flavour which overpowers the kale. I feel smug when DS drinks it.

Andbabymakesthree · 17/07/2016 09:31

Great snack for children in lunch boxes!

ALemonyPea · 17/07/2016 16:53

Strawberries don't last two minutes in this house, so we do quick and easy.

Tub of Philadelphia, mixed with sugar or sweetener and some chopped up strawberries, put on top of digestive biscuits and top with sliced strawberries.

They go down a treat.

IDismyname · 17/07/2016 18:10

If I want to do some advanced prep for supper during strawberry season, I buy a really good tub of vanilla ice cream and allow it to soften (usually by the time I get back from the shops!). Mash up fresh strawberries, crumble up shop bought meringues, and mix all 3 together.

Pile into a loaf tin lined with cling film, and put in the freezer.

Once frozen, leave in fridge while you eat your main course, turn out, and slice in thick slabs and drizzle with strawberry purée.

Voila! Eton Mess Terrine. Dead posh Grin

timeforabrewnow · 17/07/2016 18:13

Strawberries dipped in melted chocolate, then used as cake decoration.

Strawberry compote - good for pancakes and over cheesecake!

1 dsp sugar
1 knob of butter
250g strawberries, hulled and halved

Melt butter and sugar together in a pan until the sugar has dissolved into the butter (it will look a golden brown colour)

Stir the strawberries into the butter mixture over a medium heat until they are soft and starting to break apart.

Gently crush them with a masher. You can strain if you want for a smooth mixture.

I've got the strawberries in the fridge right now, ready to make this tomorrow - yum
