With Father’s Day coming up, Cadbury’s Buttons have asked us to find out about the everyday shared moments you see between your partner and kids that make you smile.

Is it watching them horse around outdoors? Or seeing them cuddled up on the sofa reading a story? Maybe it’s when you see them do something that makes you realise how alike they are. Whatever the interaction is, let Cadbury’s Buttons know below.

All MNers who post on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Note: please feel free to share interactions between your children and your wider family or other adults in their lives.

Standard Insight T&Cs apply

Thanks, and good luck!

Our daughter is 5 months old and has the most beautiful smile, it melts my heart when she gets really excited and she loves it when her daddy lifts her up really high, she stretches her legs really high and the giggle is amazing. Only he can get it (I'm far too weak to lift her that high!) Smile

Daddy putting our 6 months old to sleep. After 30 min he thinks baby is asleep on his shoulder while little naughty one gives me a cheeky smile GrinStill laughing....

seeing my exdh walking on the beach with our 2 dds ( now 21 and 17) arms round each other and round his new partner and i am overwhelmed with gratitude that they are all right and that he has found what he wants in life and he has a bond with our dds that was strong enough to survive our separation and his admission of his sexuality.
seeing them, him, his BF, my new partner, his dds all together I have a hugh 'ahhh' moment as I love them all.

asuwere · 20/05/2016 11:22

When DH decides to lie down anywhere (sofa, bed etc) and all 5 DC jump on him. Its always nice to see them all laughing and giggling together, plus DH getting squashed! :)

Buttons23 · 20/05/2016 11:37

My biggest joy is probably when my partner comes home from work and our 2 year old son runs straight to him with a big smile in his face and shouting daddy. They hug and it's just really nice to see.

bambooleaves · 20/05/2016 12:49

I love watching the kids bundling their dad, and him throwing them around and making them laugh uncontrollably. Impossible not to smile!

AshyElizabeth · 20/05/2016 12:50

I'm still breastfeeding so every morning when dd wakes us up dp goes to her Moses basket and gets her up to change her nappy before she eats. As soon as dd sees him over her Moses basket she breaks into the hugest smile and kicks her arms and legs with excitement. Dp gives her a huge smile back and because they look so similar they have the exact same smile! Makes me so happy to see this every morning and helps them bond whilst I'm still breastfeeding!

Our Dd recently went for her first sleepover at her grandparents, in preparation for the arrival of our second dc, due in 6 weeks (she'll be cared for there while I'm in labour). As she was dropped off she piped up "can you go now?" GrinGrin
She was obviously very excited. Upon her return home she asked when she could go again to stay. Having talked to her together about going again when the baby is ready to arrive, she huffed a bit and said "...and do I have to come home?"

Guess who's the favourites? Nanny and Grandaaaaaad! Definitely not mummy or daddy

Joking apart, I'm glad she loves her extended family so much!

ButterflyOfFreedom · 20/05/2016 13:41

When Dh leaves for work DS & DD run to the bedroom window to wave goodbye and blow kisses - DH waves back and I love seeing the smiles all round!
And when DH returns home after work, the DC run to him and give him big hugs. It's so nice to see Smile

MakeTeaNotWar · 20/05/2016 13:51

I love seeing everyone sleeping together, completely relaxed and at ease, fast asleep

SolemnGrundy · 20/05/2016 14:30

DS3 has a sleepover with daddy at the weekends. I'm banished from the bedroom, my husband lies on the floor and DS climbs on top to go to sleep. I love peeking in 15 minutes later to see DS gently snoring and DH also flat out!

Mrsfancyfanjango · 20/05/2016 15:53

Every morning DP with go into our 3 year old dd's room with a cup of tea (warm milk) and they will have a cuddle and chat about random lovely things. I often stand outside the door quietly smiling along

elvisthehamster · 20/05/2016 16:33

Lots really, I like seeing him reading to them at bed time , helping them with homework and when he has them all snuggled up in towels and drying their hair after baths.
I also like when they fall asleep somewhere and daddy has to carry them up the stairs to bed its very sweet and something that they see as only their daddy does and not me.

TheVeryHungryPreggo · 20/05/2016 16:38

It's the moment when Daddy comes through the front door and the toddler races as fast as he can and the baby crawls after him as fast as she can, both squealing with delight. "Mummy! MUMMY! Daddy's home, Daddy's home!" "Dada-dada! Dada-dada!"

It's Daddy holding our son upside down over his shoulder, hanging giggling down his back, and saying to me in a puzzled voice "I can't find DS anywhere. Have you seen him? No?" while DS beams at me with glee, swinging behind him.

It's Daddy stretched out on the couch after a long day with both small kids sitting on his chest and stomach bouncing on him and laughing while he says "Ooof! You're getting too big!"

It's Daddy building a magnificent train track on the floor of DS's bedroom while DS runs trains together and makes crashing, bashing sound effects and baby DD is found sucking on the exact piece of track that Daddy has been searching for the last five minutes.

[Both DS and DD are obsessed with trains so this particular scenario happens about twice a week - DS breaks it up for the "accidents" to happen ("oh no, Spencer's been derailed!") and I get fed up and put all the bits back in the box so I can clean the floors, so it has be built again and again and again.]

StickChildNumberTwo · 20/05/2016 16:55

My husband's the one who does the physical play round here - who knew that being dangled upside down and swung from side to side is so funny when you're 6 months old?! Surprisingly he's not yet been puked on....

serendipity1980 · 20/05/2016 17:33

When they are messing and especially when they are learning to roller skate - the sense of achievement on their faces is priceless.

HaveTeaWillSurvive · 20/05/2016 18:07

DD (8mo) has been very clingy to me but lately DH has discovered she loves music so they sit for ages cuddled up on the sofa watching music videos then she'll snuggle in and go to sleep. He loves it - proper quality snuggles Smile

EasterRobin · 20/05/2016 20:06

I love it when they end up in exactly the same poses (eg reading next to each other on the couch; both sticking tongues out at each other; doing the same "oh no" actions when a tower of blocks is knocked over). It brings out the family resemblance in such a cute way.

BurstMyBubbles · 20/05/2016 20:20

My guys seem to have whole conversations withouts saying anything, son does puppy dog eyes, dad responds with stern eyebrows and son turns to me and says 'dad says no' 😯 then they break into silly faces 😀

Florida123 · 20/05/2016 22:45

Nothing like when we're walking down the street together, hand in hand with our 2 year old in the middle, and she's so happy that she walks with concentrate, flicking her right leg like a chorus dancer. Hilarious.

happygelfling · 20/05/2016 23:55

DH is a keen cyclist and I love watching him teaching DD (4.5) and DS (2.5) how to ride their bikes. He is so careful to get the bikes set up exactly right, and is really encouraging about everything. The DCs are completely hooked on cycling and look up to their daddy as the fount of all wisdom in the subject .

Hopezibah · 21/05/2016 00:07

i love watching the bedtime routine - story or sometimes playing computer games together. I love watching them going for a walk - holding hands, my daughter looking up at daddy so lovingly. They sometimes do baking together too which is lovely to see.

Sleepysausage · 21/05/2016 00:44

Listening to my husband chatting to our 7month old daughter mostly made up silly tales of randomness makes me love them both a little bit more every time

Cintacmrs123 · 21/05/2016 07:04

Bedtime - me and DD have a bath and daddy gets her out and dries and dresses her in her PJ's ( I get to stay in the bath - great especially as I am 9 months pregnant ) but what I love is the sound of them giggling from the other room as the elaborate comedy of your don't want your nappy, daddy will wear it;on his head unfolds. Then we read her a story and she snuggles into daddy and they both look so content x

GruffaloPants · 21/05/2016 08:51

When DP walks in, DD behaves as though she hasn't seen him in years, shouting "Daddy"! and running with arms outstretched.

She loves blowing raspberries on him, particularly his neck. Then she demands he not tickle her, until.. he tickles her. Very cute!
