We all know that the kitchen can be a bit chaotic at times. Spills, splashes and stains can leave your kitchen looking a little worse for wear. The team at Thirst Pockets wants to know when have kitchen rolls/towels been your kitchen saviour?

Here’s what they say “Here at Thirst Pockets HQ we endeavour to make our kitchen towel as absorbent as we can to help tackle all those household spills! We are super proud of our new look range featuring Original Thirst Pockets, Our beautiful 'I love my Kitchen' decorated version, Multicloth that's amazingly versatile for cleaning windows & mirrors, leaving a streak free finish and most recently Thirst Pockets Extra Long with the same super absorbency as original but with twice as many sheets ... super absorbency goes on & on.”

So when have kitchen rolls been your kitchen lifesaver? Have they saved your DC from skidding on a water spill on the floor? Perhaps they’ve spared you a heart attack by soaking up a gallon of oil and grease from your chips and roasties? Or maybe they just take the hassle out of cleaning regular towels? However your kitchen roll has been your kitchen lifesaver, Thirst Pockets would love to know.

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky Mumsnetter will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

My kitchen towels were a lifesaver when I dropped a ketchup bottle with the lid off and it splattered all over my new cooker!

When we were selling our house we had prospective buyers come around with the estate agent to look. One time I was just starting to make dinner. The prospective buyers were upstairs looking around and I somehow managed to drop a whole new bottle of olive oil on our tiled floor which went absolutely everywhere. It was a nightmare! I quickly grabbed my roll of kitchen towels to soak up a lot of the oil and managed to get the kitchen floor/cupboards looking reasonably ok by the time the prospective buyers came downstairs (thank goodness). Anyway, it worked because they bought our house!!

alsproject · 10/04/2016 11:10

it was kitchen towels to the rescue when we spilt a whole carton of milk on the kitchen counter and it was going everywhere. We just threw the towel everywhere and it quickly soaked it up

white worktops - indian and tomato based sauce

honestly, yup those paper towels within 2 seconds of a splash saves me spending about 3 weeks of constant bleaching to get stains like that off (old worktops from the 70's that are white and frankly should have been changed a long time ago but its cheaper to buy paper towels than new worktops)!

So many times the kitchen roll is usefull, in packed lunches as a napkin, noses, wipes and spills. I line the kithen draws with kitchen roll too.

Moggy12 · 10/04/2016 11:26

I use kitchen roll for when I make my chips in an air fryer. They turn out better if you wash the starch off the chips and then dry them thoroughly with kitchen roll, they then turn out really crispy and healthy.

Kitchen roll is the king of all rolls, it clears up the things in life one does not like to touch be it pets who have been sick or are poorly at the other end to yucky spills on the floor by us humans...

samcornfield · 10/04/2016 11:49

I use them regularly for protecting my house from my sons nosebleeds. He has then pretty frequently and usually wanders around the house to make sure that he has told everyone, dripping blood along the way!

cluckyhen · 10/04/2016 11:57

Kitchen towel is a lifesaver in this house for pulling out the bits in the kitchen plug hole as touching it makes me feel sick!

iut044 · 10/04/2016 12:21

When I spill a drink quick and easy way to deal with it.

hbakfam · 10/04/2016 12:30

When I accidentally spilled tea all over the carpet!

JulesJules · 10/04/2016 12:32

Hate being out of kitchen roll. I use it for napkins with pizzas and packed lunches, to soak up spills, wipe round the sink and most recently to clean up after the cat...

When my nephews came to visit and changed my daughter's meals into food fight time

spottypjs · 10/04/2016 12:40

Last week when I dropped a bottle of milk :(

grumpymummy3 · 10/04/2016 12:41

A necessity in our house, always make sure I have plenty as we use them so much from the disgusting stuff like sick to the multitude of spilt drinks we have on an almost daily basis and spilt yogurt, broken jars etc. Couldn't manage without it.

rosemac6 · 10/04/2016 12:47

I was making sandwiches for a buffet and realised I had no cling film so dampened down some kitchen towel and covered them with it. It kept them fresh

sooz83 · 10/04/2016 13:01

They have been my life safer cleaning up the mess from the puppies - see pictures. Not just good for cleaning up water and juice I can tell you!

I use it for everything! Mainly cleaning up spilt drinks which have been knocked over on my coffee table! :)

Lunar1 · 10/04/2016 13:05

Kitchen roll was a life saver while potty training that's for sure. We have wooden floors and I think I spent the whole time my boys were out of nappies with a kitchen roll in one hand and cleaning spray in the other!

cazzzie987 · 10/04/2016 13:15

Soaking up cat sick.

georgiecurl · 10/04/2016 13:30

I've got five cats, so they're lifesavers every day!

Narnianescape · 10/04/2016 13:51

It's been a lifesaver on so many occasions especially when I live with my clutzy partner

thecountrysideistooquiet · 10/04/2016 14:14

kitchen roll patted over the top of a cooked peperoni pizza straight out of the over takes the excess oil off of it. Same for when you are cooking tattie scones in a pan with bacon fat, as soon as tattie scones are cooked on both sides take them out and place on a plate with kitchen roll and it will take off extra oil Smile

vonniebab2 · 10/04/2016 14:15

Christmas day the turkey pan was knocked off the worktop onto the floor, thank goodness for my kitchen roll it mopped all the grease up in seconds!

VelvetGlove · 10/04/2016 14:16

I use kitchen towel to cover dishes that are going into the microwave so it saves me from a full on clean each time I use the microwave! Also, really handy to then use that towel to quickly wipe around the inside of it once I'm done :)
