No alcohol...
Good nights sleep (rare beast in this house)
Keep well hydrated.

Probably explains why I look about 100...

toopeoply · 02/04/2016 07:16

No screens in bed, and just water after 8 pm. And moisturiser!

WowOoo · 02/04/2016 07:45

My eyes always look bright after I've caught up with sleep on a Sunday morning after no alcohol and plenty of water.

mamas12 · 02/04/2016 08:04

Make sure you take your make up off
Smooth in some lovey night creams ( I think you know what I'm talking about Liz Earle) :-)
Try and get as much sleep as possible
When you wake up drink a glass of warm water to rehydrate your body

WheresTheCoffee · 02/04/2016 08:22

I rarely manage more than 6 hours and so aim to remove all make up and use rehydrating eye drops just before I get into bed. Drinking plenty of water makes a difference Smile

Jmangel · 02/04/2016 08:27

All said before but no alcohol or caffeine, minimise salt, doing a massage at night to encourage lymphatic drainage and a steam bath if having a really puffy phase. I use a dermawand to do my massage and it really helps. Sleep in origins no puffery mask on at least 2 pillows preferably on back and drink a pint of water just before bed. Then in the morning another pint of water, cardio exercise for 20 mins and splash face with cold water.
This would be my routine if I had to look better for a daytime event - don't do all of this every day but maybe if I did, I'd look like Jennifer Aniston!

LoveArtDeco · 02/04/2016 08:33

Bath before bed and as lots of people have said, no screen time before bed. No alcohol and take off all make up. Bore yourself to sleep then Hmm

LadyStark · 02/04/2016 08:48

No booze, drink lots of water.

I also make sure I remove make up, cleanse and use a rehydrating oil overnight.

Chelsea26 · 02/04/2016 09:18

As PP said lavender oil sprayed on pillow works for me - good for when you're sleeping in unfamiliar beds too

AgentCooper · 02/04/2016 09:27

Remove all eye make up, no alcohol or caffeine, lavender oil on pillow, lots of water Smile

TheRightThingToDo · 02/04/2016 09:42

Plenty of water, remove eye makeup, the right amour of undisturbed sleep - the latter usually ruined by my darling DC.

Cutting out alcohol or being pregnant helped me - I'm not sure if it was pregnancy or the fact I hadn't had wine for a substantial amount of time Confused

MrsS1990 · 02/04/2016 09:57

I find pressing cold spoons from the fridge on my eyes in the morning , helps! Really helps wake them up.

Beauty on a budget !!! Grin

goodenoughmum88 · 02/04/2016 10:08

Oh what everyone else says about drinking water, cleansing toning and moisturising and getting that elusive sleep (but let's face it, this is mumsnet so how many get what they need consistently?!?)
Also, when you're really tired and running on empty, smile! Laugh! With your whole face! Get outside in the fresh air and smile, you'll feel better and it always convinces me I've had more rest and have more energy than I thought!

voyager50 · 02/04/2016 10:38

I always get a good night's sleep when my partner is away as he always comes to bed later than me, gets up before me and disturbs me and keeps me awake with his snoring - I always wake up feeling better when I've had a night without him!!!!

Moogdroog · 02/04/2016 10:43

Hot bath before bed, with something like lavender oil in it. Fresh bedsheets. Read myself off to sleep, whilst praying that the kids don't wake up and Moogmog doesn't wake the whole house up by banging the door wanting to come upstairs.

forkhandles4candles · 02/04/2016 10:45

Drinking green tea and sleeping enough does it for me.

SuburbanRhonda · 02/04/2016 10:50

Swabbing my eyes with cotton wool and Optrex before I go to bed makes a huge difference for me.

Wiseoldelf · 02/04/2016 10:59

Drink lots of water and pack in smoking. Although I found the water tip easier to achieve.

Fillybuster · 02/04/2016 11:19

Thankfully we are mostly past the small-child-waking-us-in-the-middle-of-the-night stage now, but I still rarely get more than 5-6 hours unbroken sleep.

Stuff that helps:

Removing eye makeup thoroughly and carefully, using something that doesn't irritate my eyes

A really good eye cream, morning and evening (a lighter one for day and more nourishing for evening)

Having a day "off" makeup whenever possible: most days I wear the full eyeshadow, liner, mascara load so try to give the skin around my eyes a break sometimes.

Switching to glasses and saving contact lenses for special occasions - it's made a big difference to how my eyes look as well as how they feel

Using a specialised heated eye mask once a week before bed - it's a bit of a faff but has really helped with relaxing twitchy tired eyes

louisep82601979 · 02/04/2016 12:08

I find what helps me is pressing gently on the pressure points around the eyes, focusing on the eye socket bone. I cleanse and then apply my serum and press gently with warm fingertips on the eye socket. the next morning it looks as though my eyes have lifted and are brighter! I think the circulation improves with this and it only take ten minutes before you hop into bed! A cheap, easy way to keep eyes looking bright and young! :)

SaltySeaBird · 02/04/2016 13:12

Send the children away for the night and kick DH into the spare room!

Alternatively lots of water, limited time in front of a screen and being meticulous about removing make up all help.

Stuffofawesome · 02/04/2016 13:57

No booze more water and decent amount of sleep

Myusername2015 · 02/04/2016 14:33

Silk pillowcase and ear plugs! Love the Liz Earle range

elmersfud · 02/04/2016 15:23

Stay hydrated-drink plenty water through the the day. Use Liz Earle cleanse and polish to remove all make up and grime from face. Reduce refined sugar intake. Do all these things and you'll be bright eyed in no time

sulalovesbing · 02/04/2016 16:29

Drink water and don't rub your eyes when you wake up!
