We have made it through the wintery months, but we’re not free from drizzly days just yet. It really is a struggle to feel good in the wind and rain, so nice ‘n easy would love you to share the things that you do to make yourself feel at your best.

Here’s what nice ‘n easy have to say: “The beginning of the year is often gloomy, Christmas is long gone and the days are short and dark. But with Spring just around the corner, and sun just a promise away, it’s time to get out and give yourself a lighter, sunkissed look. ‘As we have more sunny days our skin tone warms up and therefore your hair colour needs to adjust to complement it. Going one or two shades lighter softens the darker tones we have often used during the winter. It’s all about having a natural look, as if your hair has been kissed by the Spring sunshine’ says our colour expert colour expert Jonathan Long”

So, is a hot bath with some posh candles just what you need to perk yourself up in the dark winter months? Perhaps you like to learn a new skill or get involved in an evening class? Do you brighten yourself up by changing your hair colour, or by starting a new skin routine to give yourself a glow? Whatever it is that you do to boost your confidence, let nice ‘n easy know.

Please add your comment or tip below and you'll be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Love2Shop gift voucher.

I paint my nails and pluck my eye brows :)

Tutu81 · 11/03/2016 19:50

A bit of fake tan and freshly styled hair always makes me feel good!

MadeinBelfast · 11/03/2016 20:41

Squashtastic had it on page one. I feel confident as I surround myself with people who are fun, kind, considerate and don't judge me on my roots :)

wife feels more confident when I'm home from work

A really great haircut and some new clothes does wonders to help me feel renewed and more confident in myself!

marshgirl · 12/03/2016 13:48

My skin dries out in the winter so it is important to stay hydrated and moisturised but to be honest this is something that is needed whatever the season. The same with dying my hair, I have greys so need to cover every month ( I do use nice & easy to do this by the way) so again this is not a season thing. Winter to me is about staying warm and eating comfort food , not very good for your health and something you regret as the warmer months and weather appear so this year I have a new approach with a diet and exercise. A slow process but hopefully will see results that last the whole year.

My clothes are a bit of an armour - I always make sure I'm wearing something I like and feel good in whatever I'm up to. Also, I never leave the house without a splash of mascara.

WowOoo · 12/03/2016 16:53

A decent haircut and colour always perks me up.

I recently tried mineral bath salts during a bout of the flu for aching muscles. I am going to buy more, they made me feel amazing and cleared up some patches of dry skin that I had (or it might have been a coincidence).

I've tried various techniques over the years. I think portraying confidence outwardly even if you don't feel it inside is good, you can make it a habit so that it comes true! Also constantly reminding yourself to stop worrying about what anyone else might think and focus on enjoying yourself! You only live once...it's a shame to waste it!

ouryve · 12/03/2016 23:37

I just get my hair cut. All those lovely white hairs just sparkle like glitter, against the deep, dark brown hair I've had since late childhood.

mistywillow17 · 13/03/2016 02:46

An early morning run makes me feel like I've already achieved something with my day, and gives me a bit of a boost, as well as a physical glow. Although it's a bit of a distant memory - at the moment with my new baby I'd settle for having a shower before midday.

catgirl2 · 13/03/2016 10:22

I have just discovered the power of wearing make up on my 'mum' days, not just for work. Making the time to just flick on a bit of mascara and a dab of concealer makes all the difference. Also, colouring my hair at home as soon as the grey comes through rather than holding out to spend a fortune at the hairdressers. This is something I have genuinely discovered in the last few months and definitely helps me feel better about how I look.

gadfly90 · 13/03/2016 10:27

Nothing fills me with confidence like dwelling on other people's flaws and how much better I am than them.

(Also squashtastic's answer on p1 is clearly the best answer.)

ShebaQueen · 13/03/2016 13:14

I always feel better after a blow dry and some makeup.

If I need to feel confident for something work related - for example a presentation, I make sure I am fully prepared. Otherwise I walk tall, smile, breathe deeply and fake it till I make it!

Ntinyn · 13/03/2016 13:52

When you go out with friends, before you all go home get your phones out and get the next date in the diary. Always great to have something to look forward to when you have a young family and are a SAHM like me.

Haffdonga · 13/03/2016 16:23

Occasionally I give myself a secret day off work because I deserve it. I book a day's annual leave but 'forget' to mention it to my dh or teenaged dcs. I wave them all off to work/school etc and then spend the day indulging myself with a nice lunch, a shopping trip or even just a bit of daytime TV without feeling guilty that I should be using my time off to clean out the broom cupboard or give ds a lift to the gym. (Somehow because it's a secret it feels more of a treat. Am I weird?)

ShebaQueen · 13/03/2016 16:42

I love that idea Haffdonga, definitely going to try it Smile

planepointer · 13/03/2016 19:43

Stand tall in a 'power stance' - your physical posture has a real impact on how you feel about yourself and your confidence.

annarack99 · 13/03/2016 20:22

matching undies!

Thecatknowsshesboss · 13/03/2016 22:11

I used to hate exercise but then started the couch to 5k. Now I can run 10k and feel far more positive about myself.

Tean1 · 13/03/2016 22:16

Learn what suits your colouring and figure, make sure you try on new clothes before buying them and chuck out anything that doesn't make you feel great.

selloveday · 13/03/2016 22:25

Exercising regularly makes me feel more confident, even if its just a quick walk out in the fresh air.

phillie1 · 14/03/2016 08:52

putting some lippy and a smile on my face

Givemecoffeeplease · 14/03/2016 12:14

Good underwear. Gives you good shape and a mental boost, even if you put your tracksuit on the top.

stefalfie11 · 14/03/2016 18:31

Wear whatever clothes make you feel comfortable, it doesnt matter if they're not "in fashion" or other people dont like them. The only important thing is that you like them because you'll gain so much confidence by just feeling happy in your own skin.
