Mother’s Day is just around the corner and, to celebrate, Lidl want to know what dish you'd like to be served on a perfect Mothering Sunday. Whether this is a snack, starter, main course, cake or dessert, please share your ideal dish on this thread - then Michelin-starred chef Kevin Love will create recipes using Lidl items for a selection of MNers choices! (In an ideal world your OH or DC would then actually make them for you!)

So please share on this thread what you've love to see created for you on Mother's Day - Lidl would love to hear them

Share your ideal Mother’s Day dish with Lidl by posting on this thread and you will be entered into a prize draw where five MNers will each win a £50 Lidl voucher.

Please note your comments may be used by Lidl elsewhere, so please only post if you're comfortable with this.

Thanks and good luck!

Homemade roast chicken with all the trimmings

Cataline · 20/02/2016 22:25

Pasta or gnocchi with a creamy mushroomy Marsala-y sauce. With a fabulous fancy garlic bread possibly involving blue cheese and red onion!

Annbunce · 20/02/2016 22:28

My favourite Mother's Day dinner would be a Roast Chicken dinner with all the trimmings, followed by homemade Eton Mess !!! Yummy

GetKnitted · 20/02/2016 23:01

Does it count if I say anything so long as I'm not the one cooking?!

kristina77 · 21/02/2016 07:33

My lovely Mum took me and the kids on a cruise last year, at one stage we sat overlooking the sea in Barcelona eating the most amazing paella. I would love to recreate this and bring back some really happy memories.

liamell · 21/02/2016 09:07

I would absolutely be thrilled to not have to cook for once :) and my favourite dish would be....

Beef wellington with horseradish mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables...perfect!

sarah3875 · 21/02/2016 11:33

A lovely fish pie with some crusty bread. My Mum makes it best though!!

ju2003connor · 21/02/2016 14:41

My Mothers Day meal would have to be Roast Lamb with all the trimmings, can't beat getting the family together on Mothering Sunday for a classic roast, timeless :)

Bostin · 21/02/2016 15:30

Eggs Benedict for brunch followed by some champagne truffles.

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 21/02/2016 18:08

I'm really lucky as DH is a great cook so always often cooks me meals, but he hates fish and I love it, so a real treat would be to have something like grilled tuna steak (rare) with peperonata, steamed green beans dressed with balsamic vinegar and some fresh crusty bread. With a nice glass of Italian white wine, possibly sparkling, and something chocolatey for dessert.

melvis · 21/02/2016 18:09

My stepdad cooks a full roast dinner with all the trimmings, it's like Christmas but only one person receives gifts ;-)

I always provide dessert, so if I have time I bake a cake otherwise I buy my Mum's favourite sticky toffee pudding and ice cream to take with me.

thisismypassword · 21/02/2016 18:59

Steak medium, rice, rocket salad with red onion!!!

k8vincent · 21/02/2016 19:18

Chilli con carne - because nobody in our house ever complains about it!

phillie1 · 22/02/2016 08:48

Big roast dinner -gammon and turkey, with lots of fluffy potatoes, roasted veg, peas and carrot, topped off by a pudding made by the kids

BathshebaDarkstone · 22/02/2016 09:58

Either kedgeree or steak and kidney pie. Smile

hiddenmichelle · 22/02/2016 13:57

Roast Beef Dinner!

squizita · 22/02/2016 14:46

Brunch bread-and-butter-pudding.
Croissants, fruit bread and chocolate chips baked in a 'custard' of eggs, full fat milk and honey until lightly set.
A very indulgent brunch treat.

gBean · 22/02/2016 17:51

Breakfast - scrambled eggs with loads of Pepper on seeded thick bread with proper butter.

Lunch - goats cheese and caramelised onion tart with a really good salad - colourful, crunchy and full of texture.

Dinner - seafood linguine followed by warm chocolate brownies with good vanilla ice cream.

gBean · 22/02/2016 17:52

(A quick scan of the thread shows I'm clearly a greedy pig)

emmamcmahon · 22/02/2016 18:19

Bolognaise pasta bake using huge pasta shells and topped with cheese which goes crispy in the oven. Then if anyone has room, sticky toffee pudding and custardSmile

ngonizashe · 22/02/2016 19:21

A homemade creamy tiramisu! (Preferably served to me in bed for breakfast!)

piggypoo · 22/02/2016 19:48

I always do melon balls to start, as it's my Mum's favourite and it's lovely and light, followed by roast chicken, let go cold, cut into pieces and served with a lovely green salad and baby new potatoes, with cracked black pepper and a little olive oil, and for dessert, chocolate and beetroot cake, served with some lovely clotted cream, and we have Mum's favourite drink, Champagne and orange juice!

Tidypidy · 22/02/2016 20:11

Cottage pie with steamed broccoli and carrots followed by fruit salad and ice cream. Lovely comfort food our whole family adores.

kierschtorte · 22/02/2016 20:29

A mezze feast of various cheeses, salads with roasted vegetables, pomegranate seeds and pine nuts, olives, freshly baked flat bread, stuffed vine leaves, lebne and homemade hummus. Dessert would be creme brulee.

leccybill · 22/02/2016 21:17

My favourite dish is Lidl vine tomatoes, mozarrella pearls, fresh basil and olive oil. With crusty tiger bread.

If someone made me this without me having to do all the bloody chopping, I'd be thrilled beyond belief.
