The new app guides you through pregnancy week by week, sharing expert info and the experiences of thousands of other women who've been through the same things at each stage.

We all know that pregnancy can make people do some rather strange things - and 90% of pregnant women will experience antenatal cravings. Some can't get enough of one specific food, while others find themselves creating flavour combinations they'd never have dreamed of pre-pregnancy.

From inhaling everything sweet in two seconds flat, to middle of the night munching, or the sudden urge to taste things that aren't even food - what did you crave while waiting for your baby to arrive?

Share your wacky and wonderful pregnancy cravings with us - and help make other pregnant women currently experiencing them feel a little better about their latest hormone-induced feast.

Anyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £150 voucher for the store of your choice PLUS a month's supply of Persil Non Bio and Comfort Pure!

Everything had to have vinegar or mint sauce - mild compared to my friends cellar wall eating habit!

4DC here, so a plethora of dodgy cravings:-

  • Salted crisps crushed in a sandwich wth chocolate spread- gorgeous sweet and salty combo!
  • fresh melon chopped into squares and stirred into partially melted chocolate ice cream, or better still mint chocolate chip ice cream.
  • sucking on chilled lemon halves, which probably stemmed from awful morning sickness
  • tiny pickled gherkins which I could et by the jar, then gave me indigestion so I drank loads of milk on top. It's a miracle I kept that down!

First pregnancy was flapjacks! I think I bought all the flapjacks in the town I worked in as the local shops were all sold out by the time i went on maternity leave!

Second pregnancy - fish (which i usually hate!)

third pregnancy - watermelon - I ate a whole one towards the end of my pregnancy and then promptly vomited it up again as there just wasn't much space in there as my stomach was so squeezed by that point.

When breastfeeding I had real breastfeeding cravings too - lasagne and green salad and berries, extra thick double cream and meringue.

I could happily have eaten that meal everyday!

mars ice cream bars! was up at all hours of day and night trekking to the all night garage who kept them in stock for me!

RACHELSMITH45 · 22/02/2016 21:49

Rice with brown sugar, barbecue sauce, and butter. I thought it was soooo good !!

putthePuffindown · 22/02/2016 21:53

Blue ice poles, my DH trekked round numerous shops to find them!

PrincessAisha2015 · 22/02/2016 22:47

My cravings during pregnancy was pickled onion crisps- really cold fresh juices my fav was coconut and pineapple! Also fresh chips from the chipshop smothered in salt and vinegar yummmy!!

Clairescottshug · 22/02/2016 23:24

Not crazy but twister ice lollies I went mad for! So much so we had boxes upon boxes of them in the freezer! Straight after birth I went off them and had to keep giving them to guests lol

Firewall · 23/02/2016 01:04

Peanut butter and condensed milk spread on a cracker. So so yummy!!

M2676 · 23/02/2016 02:10

Besides fish i use to crave soap, yeah bathing soap, too weird right? Always keep a tiny bit in my bag so i can eat it, and the smell of washing powder just sooo beautiful... Looking back i thank God that nothing happened to my 3 daughters, even my mum thinks im weird that she hides washing powders from me

scoobyloobyloo · 23/02/2016 03:36

I had full on anaemia induced pica.

Hard to belie that I am usually a hugely rational person but my first pregnancy resulted in the following

Chewing sponges (bought a selection from Boots and cut them into small bits when I realised thy chewing my flannel was both unhygienic and not quite hitting the mark)

Compulsively eating pork scratching sand drinking gallons of Ribena

Chewing the ends of my own hair compulsively ( apparently there is a whole tribe of women in Africa who do this throughout pregnancy)

Numerous visits to Shoe Zone to sniff the rubber soles of new shoes

Compulsively cleaning the house and polishing shoes to get just a whiff of any kind of cleaning/polishing product

I am now 20 weeks pregnant again and the only whiff of it happening again was walking past newly cut grass the other days and suddenly thinking 'ooh, that looks tasty'.

All very, very odd but the result was a beautiful, strong and healthy little girl!

icklekid · 23/02/2016 04:16

Salt and vinegar crisps until I consumed a giant bag and was very sick.
Skips which were impossible to find on the day I required them
Rolos- sent dh on an urgent mission for them he came back with a bar of rolo chocolate they are not the same and I may have cried! Blame the hormones!

icklekid · 23/02/2016 04:18

In a side note is the pregnancy tracker only for iPhones? Missed a majority android market if so. ..

TurtleEclipseofTheHeart · 23/02/2016 10:14

Fruit, yogurt and peanut butter. I always wished I had wackier ones!

shroney · 23/02/2016 11:51

french fries from mcdonald and cheese and onion crisps, not the healthiest food to crave!

sharond101 · 23/02/2016 12:22

I could eat a kg of raw carrots at a time dipped in peanut butter. I was tested for jaundice but it was the carrots that had changed my skin colour!

Quills · 23/02/2016 12:30

DD1 it was the smell of tinsel. Fortunately for me she was a December baby, so I had plenty of chances to indulge myself in all the Christmas aisles!

DD2 I had hyperemesis, and one of the only things I could stomach was plain spaghetti smothered in Worcestershire sauce - I presume my body was craving the carbs and salt. No explanation for the tinsel, though!

del2929 · 23/02/2016 13:32

i craved jam on toast with sliced boiled eggs- --- this time im craving crisps..... in any way shape or form.

farhanac · 23/02/2016 13:49

Never had cravings

jandoc · 23/02/2016 14:13

they haven't quite started yet

StickChildNumberTwo · 23/02/2016 15:57

Skips. I went right off sweet stuff which was very odd as I'm generally a chocoholic, but I tended to want salty things so cheese and marmite were other favourites.

AddictedtoGreys · 23/02/2016 16:04

In my first trimester it was cucumber sandwiches! But all the way though (currently pregnant with dc2) it has been anything cold! So mostly stuff straight from the fridge. And love pickled onions!

lexy444 · 23/02/2016 17:07

With DS1 it was tomatoes.

With DS2 it was the huge toblerone choc bars (still paying for that one) we joked he would be a triangular shaped baby

With DS3 I can't remember any cravings...

lottietiger · 23/02/2016 18:27

Nothing really crazy but all things sweet when before I was only interested in savoury. cakes, biscuits, chocolates, jelly sweets all the tuff that's ad for you. The worst thing is it hasnt gone away now my son is born :(

Lariflete · 23/02/2016 18:45

Petrol - I could have drunk it given half a chance. I've always liked the smell at petrol stations but when I was pregnant with DS I felt like an addict being denied my addiction. I craved it so badly. The day DS was born - craving vanished and I'm back to my normal 'that smells nice' when I fill up with petrol!
