These days, parenting tips are available from a wealth of sources and sometimes it can be tricky to know who to listen to. The team at Nurofen for Children would love to hear who you turn to for the best parenting advice and why you trust or listen to them most of all.

Here's what Nurofen for Children says,"Being a parent is a wonderful life changing experience, full of challenges and triumphs at every stage. We understand seeking advice from a variety of sources is an important part of feeling confident in the decisions you make for your children, so we’d love to hear who you turn to for advice (and the reasons you love the tips they give)".

So please share on this thread your best sources of advice: whether it's a trusted friend who has been there and done that, your own mum, your health visitor, a magazine or blog, the content pages or talk boards on MN Wink etc. They'd also like to know why you love that source of advice so much - perhaps you could share the best advice you've been given and why it worked for you.

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one mumsnetter will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher!

Thanks

MNHQ

My midwife told me about the routine before bed time, it helped DD with sleeping pattern. :)

kel1981 · 25/02/2016 13:58

my mum as she raised me and my sister very well ;) and she is a retired nurse and health visitor so is good to go to for health advice.

mumtowoo1 · 25/02/2016 14:39

I always go to my mother in law, I trust to always give me the best advice for my family and I as she knows us so well.

baconbap · 25/02/2016 15:54

Friends whose mothering I admire

roostastyle · 25/02/2016 16:58

Mumsnet & Netmums have kept me sane since I became pregnant & now I've had DD. Anything I want to know I google! And find loads of other mums saying the same thing (like when I Googled 'baby makes elephant noises' & found so do a lot of people's babies! Lol). Forums are full of a wealth of knowledge & experience. Having access to the experiences of other mums helped me work out I needed to put DD on Infacol and Colief at the same time to help with her reflux & colic. Rather than having to do a lot of trial and error and getting stressed I just read other mums' experiences and learn from them. Godsend at 2am with a sicky newborn!!

suzyq50 · 25/02/2016 17:14

My Mum first as she's got a wealth of experience & then my friends.

dozza33 · 25/02/2016 17:39

My mum or my friends as they have been through it themselves and they know me and my kids :)

katiefish · 25/02/2016 17:59

has to be my mum as she raised 3 of us on her. Her advice has never let me down

CishAndFips · 25/02/2016 18:20

When I found out I was pregnant with my second I joined a mumsnet group for mums due in the same month. From here a Facebook group was created, I would always talk to these ladies first. I can almost guarantee what ever I am going through one of them will be going through the same, their advice and support is invaluable.

AutumnElla · 25/02/2016 19:37

Normally my boyfriends sister. She's got young children of her own so has recently been through the baby stage and always seems to know what to do.

meggysar · 25/02/2016 19:51

My mum every time because she is a fountain of knowledge.

ekt55 · 25/02/2016 20:00

Mumsnet threads for general parenting: there's nearly always a thread in the archive with my exact problem and posters tend to be very helpful.

For more medical advice I tend to annoy the couple of friends/family members who are health care professionals in the first instance and then obviously would go to the GP etc. for more serious things

Kiefersgirl · 25/02/2016 20:01

Always my mum she has been there done it and bought the tshirt!

topsy73 · 25/02/2016 20:10

I always trust my maternal instincts and if I am still seeking advice I would speak to my mum x

ElizaW922 · 25/02/2016 20:16

My Mum - she did a great job raising me after all! ;-)

Kangakate · 25/02/2016 20:31

I look on this website and also my friend's that I made in my antenatal class

natzm23 · 25/02/2016 20:39

My mum, she's had three children and she's a foster carer... I like to think I turned out alright! ☺️

PhilTB54 · 25/02/2016 20:40

My mate Pete. He's got 5 kids and his advice is usually Hug 'em or clump 'em .

mumpetuk1 · 25/02/2016 20:45

My mum, she has had 4 of her own so she is experienced

chunkychocky · 25/02/2016 20:54

Depends what so ft of advice. Mum friends for most things, or NHS Direct as it used to be called for medical advice.

chr1ssy0908 · 25/02/2016 20:56

My mum! Because she has been there and done that and she is an amazing help to me, and besides if I had turned to my dad then I'd have probably burnt the house down or something equally random bless him!

slbhill42 · 25/02/2016 21:39

my friends with older kids. They've been there and done that recently, and now can tell me what they wish they'd known at the time!

casspuss · 25/02/2016 21:44

my mum as she brought me up x

kevinb1967 · 25/02/2016 21:48

Mumsnet is the best place for advice, even though I'm a dad! No good asking my parents because everything is so different now. I love reading the different views and then making my own judgement.
