It’s 2016, and many of us have pledged to kick old habits or try something new. Clairol nice ‘n easy wants to know how Mumsnetters are getting on with sticking to their New Year’s resolutions.

Here’s what they say: “We’re all too familiar with the frustrations of being stuck on style repeat – whether it’s due to being busy at work, having a hectic social life or being scared of change. But little changes can make a big difference; whether that’s a new lipstick, a new accessory or a different hair shade. With nice’n easy’s wide palette of shades, there’s a shade for every woman who wants to refresh her look. Each shade delivers up to 100% grey coverage, plus natural tones and highlights, thanks to Clairol’s exclusive ColourBlend Technology. What better time to go for a change than a new year? That’s exactly the time we chose to change our models on pack. What changes did you plan for this year?”

How are your New Year’s resolutions going so far and plans? Perhaps you’re working off those Christmas mince pies by hitting the gym? Or are you trying to broaden your horizons by reading more books? Maybe you’re taking the “new year, new you” idea a little more literally, by colouring your hair or changing your wardrobe?

However you’re getting on with your resolutions, nice ‘n easy would love to hear about it.

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw, where one lucky Mumsnetter will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

Failed miserably yet again!

Annimousey · 19/01/2016 21:47

My NYR was to be more positive and I don't think I've broken it so far. :) I even have a calendar next to me that has positive quotes in it to remind me. :)

Funkyferret · 19/01/2016 21:50

Not bad. I wanted to cut the clutter and slowly but surely I'm sorting through the mountains of rubbish! It's left me no time to put my resolution to step up the exercise in place but surely all my sorting, lifting and cleaning counts!

gamerwidow · 19/01/2016 21:57

Not bad I'm aiming to lose a stone before March and I've lost 7lbs so far.

Caelaj07 · 19/01/2016 22:01

My resolution was to lose weight for my wedding in May. I have stuck to it so far, I have joined slimming world, started exercising and so far lost 7lb 😆

Loula117 · 19/01/2016 22:07

To keep up my exercise - yep
Eating less meat - definitely been good so far
Take more care over appearance - er, so so. Had a pedicure today. Not doing brilliantly on getting up earlier to do makeup though!

mamof3boys · 19/01/2016 22:09

I planned on cutting down on the junk food but there is still way too much chocolate left in the house to even contemplate it. I'll try again next month!

pfcpompeysarah · 19/01/2016 22:18

My NY resolution lasted as long as the rest of them every year.. roughly an hour!!

addverbaan · 19/01/2016 22:27

I have taken the promised daily beach walk every day so far! Some days have been more challenging then others with the weather but it has been invigorating!

ButterflyOfFreedom · 19/01/2016 22:28

I had 3:

  • stop biting my nails (failed)
  • lose 6 lbs by summer (1lb gone; 5 to go! Am seeing this as a success so far!)
  • read more (read 20 pages of a new book so far; that's another success!)
SheldonsSpotOnTheCouch · 19/01/2016 22:32

I've joined a choir. I cant sing particularly well but I enjoy singing and I thought it was time I did something for me. So this year I'm going to sing as if no one's listening!

Theimpossiblegirl · 19/01/2016 22:33

I am reading my second book this month, so am on target to read 24 books this year. :)

surgeoner · 19/01/2016 22:38

Going okay so far, eating more healthily and getting a bit more exercise :)

MiddleClassProblem · 19/01/2016 22:42

Mine is to go for a walk every weekend as a family, dogs and all. So far so good!

ConvertedTry · 19/01/2016 22:48

My resolution was to complete Couch to 5k with the aim of getting healthy and back to running regularly again. I have completed week 2 which is great but haven't managed to give up the chocolate yet.

KittyKat88 · 19/01/2016 22:50

My resolution was to spend more time practising on my musical instruments (piano, accordian and guitar) and I've not kept to my plan to practise at least 3 times a week - but I'm a busy mum who works, so I'm not going to be too hard on myself! I've lots of time to return to my plan this year Wink

LeeR1985 · 19/01/2016 22:56

I started mine a few days before the new year and i'm still sticking to it. Cut out all drinks except water, no sweets, crisps or chocolate. Mostly eating chicken and veg and salds for lunches :)

emella · 19/01/2016 23:19

Mine was just to continue eating well and exercising, slipped early in the year but actually doing more than I should be doing again now so on track :)

lindseystuart85 · 19/01/2016 23:29

My resolution is going very very well :)
I am now 30 and have decided to get myself on the road this year and that is exactly what I am doing, I have already started my lessons and I am revising daily for my theory test which is in eight weeks time :)
Driving is going to change not only my life but my little families life too No more being stuck in the country :)

wendybrown · 19/01/2016 23:46

i'm doing quite well so far. i had vowed to spend more quality time with loved ones, and i've managed to meet up with all my close friends and family this year and i also have 'appointments' to continue this into February.
So well done, me!!

ogio9988 · 20/01/2016 00:03

Mine is going very well! I need to lose weight and get my BMI down for an operation. Have lost 10lbs so far! It's not easy but am sticking to it

Bellroyd · 20/01/2016 05:44

If it wasn't for the requirement to be disciplined, I'd be Ok, but when the time comes to take some exercise, I always seem to find other things to do and spurious reasons to avoid. When other half treats themselves to an evening scooby snack, my resistance weakens and I have to join in.

So, how's it going? - Not too well!

DinosaursRoar · 20/01/2016 08:09

So far - have read book 4 of the "50 books in 2016 challenge" - so as it's week 3, that puts me ahead of schedule

Nails are all bitten down again, so that ones already a bit of a failure

The final one was "make an effort to meet up with friends and family who don't live nearby, not just the near ones - have so far managed my dd's godmother and my db - both live a couple of hours drive away. Keeping up the momentum and currently emailing back and forth with 2 other friends who are more than an hour away to find a good date for lunch.

lynwestie · 20/01/2016 08:23

Erm,not very well.
I was going to walk more and drive less but my excuse is that its been too cold !

Cerealchanger · 20/01/2016 08:34

I work shifts so my eating can be a bit chaotic. My resolution was not to spend any money on food while I'm at work, so no takeaways or popping out for coffee and snacks. I've stuck to it so far and my credit card bill has reduced significantly this month! Packed lunches all the way...
