It’s 2016, and many of us have pledged to kick old habits or try something new. Clairol nice ‘n easy wants to know how Mumsnetters are getting on with sticking to their New Year’s resolutions.

Here’s what they say: “We’re all too familiar with the frustrations of being stuck on style repeat – whether it’s due to being busy at work, having a hectic social life or being scared of change. But little changes can make a big difference; whether that’s a new lipstick, a new accessory or a different hair shade. With nice’n easy’s wide palette of shades, there’s a shade for every woman who wants to refresh her look. Each shade delivers up to 100% grey coverage, plus natural tones and highlights, thanks to Clairol’s exclusive ColourBlend Technology. What better time to go for a change than a new year? That’s exactly the time we chose to change our models on pack. What changes did you plan for this year?”

How are your New Year’s resolutions going so far and plans? Perhaps you’re working off those Christmas mince pies by hitting the gym? Or are you trying to broaden your horizons by reading more books? Maybe you’re taking the “new year, new you” idea a little more literally, by colouring your hair or changing your wardrobe?

However you’re getting on with your resolutions, nice ‘n easy would love to hear about it.

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw, where one lucky Mumsnetter will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

Getting a new FitBit for Christmas has helped me with my resolution to walk more

emmamcmahon · 23/01/2016 10:21

I was supposed to lose a lot of weight very quickly for my Sister's wedding in May, so I promised myself no cheats or naughtyness! Fell at the first hurdle with my 6 year olds birthday this week. Think I ate most of the cake myself 😣

ozbird1 · 23/01/2016 12:20

Food resolution - trying but not as good :o(

sarahbrokenshire · 23/01/2016 13:04

Fabulous :) I have been going to 4 gym classes a week and the baby weight is well on its way to disappearing and I feel so much better in myself xx

robbo86otm · 23/01/2016 13:09

My main new years resolution was to continue eating healthy and loose weight and so far it's going well, if i can say the same thing in a few months then i will be happy

liz1970 · 23/01/2016 14:00

so so :/

wobblywindows · 23/01/2016 14:06

I have 30 objectives lined up for this year & have managed 1 so far- spend more quality time with my grandson. And that's ok because we're not even finished the first month yet- 3% is good.

dtsar60 · 23/01/2016 16:45

Mine is going OK so far. My new years resolution was to travel somewhere each month this year, even if it is just for a day or two. In January I went to Turkey, In February I plan to be in Belgium, in March Holland. I will be making further plans over the next few weeks and will keep the forum informed. The love to shop vouchers would be so nice to buy a few things for my travels.

becskiboo · 23/01/2016 17:09

Mine is going ok - I want to either read or give away all those unread books on my shelves. So far I've finished off 2 and read 1 and am 1/2 way through another - don't think that's bad 3 weeks in

CarisseCreations · 23/01/2016 18:15

Just Reading Through The Messages On This Post. I'm Obviously The Only Who Isn't Trying To Eat Healthy Or Exercise! Blush

Anywho, I Have Completely Failed At My Resolution...To Stop Procrastinating.

Maybe One Day...

Bongo53 · 23/01/2016 21:21

I didn't make it past a week.

FaithAscending · 23/01/2016 22:05

I tried to be specific: Mind - to practice mindfulness daily, Body - to run an average of a mile a day over a year, spirit - to do my Bible study every day. So far I've done the mindfulness and bible study daily and I've run 26 miles!

marymanc · 23/01/2016 22:08

My resolutions are to lose weight and do more exercise. I went to the gym today but then I had a big dinner and a bar of chocolate after tea...I don't say anything else...

myusername12345 · 23/01/2016 22:45

tracyuk55 · 23/01/2016 23:13

Haven't been brave enough to join the gym or start slimming club yet but they are pencilled in for this coming week!

recyclingbag · 24/01/2016 09:31

I bought a piano before Christmas. I have been having lessons for 3 weeks now.

I can play a recognisable Hey Jude Grin

judE99 · 24/01/2016 10:41

My resolution was to stop making resolutions you can't keep.

badgermum · 24/01/2016 11:28

Still sticking with the Dry Januray and we have managed to get out for a long(ish) family walk every weekend so far, but the diet is on a slipperly slope

emms88 · 24/01/2016 11:29

I resolved to cut back on sugar and I have failed.

starrybee · 24/01/2016 11:50

princesssmitheee · 24/01/2016 13:58

ToeTouching · 24/01/2016 14:06

My resolution was to stop living inside my own head because I've neglected my body and home for far too long.

So far this year I've -

  • logged all food on MFP sticking to my calorie and nutrition goals (have lost 7.8lb - next weigh in tomorrow)
  • Gone from complete couch potato to taking regular walks (started c25k but have done something to my shins so have stopped running for now) and have now started using an exercise bike too.
  • stated using the Kondo method to declutter my house - tons of stuff has now gone, my bedroom is being decorated and I've finally replaced the bedroom furniture I've had for 30 years. Dining room is next for a revamp.
  • I've just had a promotion at work and will buy myself some lovely good quality new clothes as I lose more weight instead of the usual cheap, dowdy stuff I buy because nothing looked good on me anyway.
