It’s 2016, and many of us have pledged to kick old habits or try something new. Clairol nice ‘n easy wants to know how Mumsnetters are getting on with sticking to their New Year’s resolutions.

Here’s what they say: “We’re all too familiar with the frustrations of being stuck on style repeat – whether it’s due to being busy at work, having a hectic social life or being scared of change. But little changes can make a big difference; whether that’s a new lipstick, a new accessory or a different hair shade. With nice’n easy’s wide palette of shades, there’s a shade for every woman who wants to refresh her look. Each shade delivers up to 100% grey coverage, plus natural tones and highlights, thanks to Clairol’s exclusive ColourBlend Technology. What better time to go for a change than a new year? That’s exactly the time we chose to change our models on pack. What changes did you plan for this year?”

How are your New Year’s resolutions going so far and plans? Perhaps you’re working off those Christmas mince pies by hitting the gym? Or are you trying to broaden your horizons by reading more books? Maybe you’re taking the “new year, new you” idea a little more literally, by colouring your hair or changing your wardrobe?

However you’re getting on with your resolutions, nice ‘n easy would love to hear about it.

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw, where one lucky Mumsnetter will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

Still not touched a drop for Dry January so hopefully will keep it up. Making good progress to increase my steps - my average has been 8000 but aiming for 10000 a day.

Golfess1 · 20/01/2016 21:00

To work less than 12 hrs a day, look after myself like I look after everybody else and start to play golf again.

andywedge · 20/01/2016 21:04

Hmm, a bit soso if I'm honest. My resolution was to walk rather than drive whenever possible. Hopefully it will stop raining soon.

Maiyakat · 20/01/2016 21:06

My aim was to be a less shouty mum. Not perfect yet by any means, but I'm getting there (aided by bribery a star chart)

flamingtoaster · 20/01/2016 21:20

I was going to try to worry less about small things in the hope of improving my sleep pattern. During the post Christmas/New Year clear up I decided I really should try to do some decluttering - which I am worrying about. Hopefully I'll get there in the end!

Maclairey · 20/01/2016 21:29

Failing dismally. I blame the fact that neither of my kids sleeps so I am constantly exhausted and all I want to do is eat chocolate. I am not doing too badly with my resolution to spend less time on my phone though.

DrSausagedog · 20/01/2016 21:32

Not doing too well. I need to lose the weight I gained in December but have put a bit more on!

I need to go back to basics, keep a food diary and re find my motivation.

sarahb8708 · 20/01/2016 22:06

Well, for a start I have finally become a red head again after more than 10 years of brunette - thanks Natural Light Auburn! I am definitely getting better organised too and I'm working on the diet!

buckley1983 · 20/01/2016 22:27

I'm trying to eat a bit more healthily.. put on 10lbs in the last 4 months :O Been cutting down on the chocolate consumption (which was reaching alarming levels - 2 whole chocolate oranges at a time!) which has helped. Weighed myself today & have lost 6lbs. Need to start running again next week to stay fit.. hate the post-Chrustmas energy slump! The spending diet has been less successful.. have now resolved to cut up my interest-free card as the temptation is just to keep spending on it.. even though I know I have to pay the whole damn lot back at some stage!! Hope others doing well! :D x

Princessxo · 20/01/2016 22:28

New Year's resolution was to do well at Uni. So far so good.

plantsitter · 20/01/2016 23:09

Planned to wear make up every day. Failed. Those extra 10 mins in bed are just too toasty!

sadiewoohoo · 20/01/2016 23:39

Im doing ok. Mine was weight loss so im being very good all week but allowing myself 2 treats at the weekend.

jamielmdjs · 21/01/2016 02:16

badly. be less lazy, more productive, go to bed earlier, sleep better. all broken already.

spiroo · 21/01/2016 05:27

Always broken in every year so not bother to have one this year Hmm

Dolallytats · 21/01/2016 08:08

Every year I have a resolution to lose weight.....it never happens. This year I thought I would 'reverse psychology' myself and my resolution was to put ON weight.

Unfortunately my resolution is going very well Sad

cagsd · 21/01/2016 09:03

The only resolution I made was to get back to my weight loss plan which I fell off over Christmas; I lasted a day and a half then thought "sod it" and delved into the crisps.

January is too cold and miserable for dieting. I'll try again in February!

phillie1 · 21/01/2016 09:18

was to do walk lots - 1st week started off well, and becoming less and less ever since!

thisismypassword · 21/01/2016 09:36

Resolution: to lose baby weight and it's going ok so far...
Also to have at least one family day out e.g. Zoo, theme park every month.

Moogdroog · 21/01/2016 09:39

Mine was to be better groomed. Not for anyone else's benefit, but for my self confidence really and to reconnect with my pre-children self. Going well so far, though I'm enjoying comfy clothes and no make up on my day off work today. I got a beauty box subscription for Christmas, and am making time to get myself ready in the morning and enjoy the odd indulgent bath. Quite a pleasant New Years resolution really!

RiSo · 21/01/2016 09:46

Not too bad, I want to lose weight and exercise more (same as most of the country), I am making better choices with my food intake, and the exercise was going well until an operation on my feet has left me in a lot of pain but as soon as I can I will be back on the exercise bandwagon too.

wooohooo · 21/01/2016 10:16

Not 100% but I am eating healthy,Its hard though as Its so cols I just want to eat hot stodgy food

Gazelda · 21/01/2016 10:52

my resolution was to be better at communicating, eg not leaving texts ages before responding.
i can't honestly say that I've cracked it, I'm still a procrastinator in this area, but I'm definitely better than I was before, and I'm conscious about comms I need to reply to and am being more proactive in corresponding with friends/families rather than leaving it to them to get in touch.

ann28 · 21/01/2016 11:35

Dry January which ended on the 2nd!

Lisacraig1981 · 21/01/2016 11:45

Rubbish I've put on 6lbs haha

Stoodles · 21/01/2016 12:09

I gaver up making resolutions, as failing was just a reason to beat myself up
