We’ve been asked by Sheilas' Wheels to find out what Mumsnetters want from their Car Insurance policy.

They say "we appreciate that Car insurance isn't something you think about every day, however, should you need it you want to know everything is covered."

So what would be your ideal car insurance policy? Should it include a number of complimentary car washes each year? Any extras to keep your family safe when motoring?

Whatever you’d like from your car insurance policy, Sheilas' Wheels would love to hear your thoughts and ideas. Who knows, you could help shape the future of car insurance?

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks,

Free lost key cover,Best price guarantee on renewals or a clear loyalty discount as well as no claims, No claims discount for additional driver so they can build up an insurance history, and being a parent of a budding driver a competitive new drivers policy so I don't have to take out a loan to insure my car for my son who I would want a tracking device fitted by the company to monitor his driving.

alsproject · 26/12/2015 09:26

I would like a competitively priced product that had no gimmicks or small print to catch you out.

maryandbuzz1 · 26/12/2015 09:28

Having just renewed my car insurance I would like a loyalty discount.
Ease of making a claim with reasonable waiting when trying to speak to an advisor.
An insurance which shows automatically all the hidden extras ... I am fed up with seeing what I think is a good deal only to find on further investigation that I have to pay extra for the things I want included and then realising it is not a good deal after all. Such a waste if time.m

gmaisey · 26/12/2015 09:32

Loyalty from my current insurer, I haven't claimed in years and again my premium quote for next year has gone up, will be shopping around again for a better deal.

suewho · 26/12/2015 09:41

I want a clear policy, low pricing, low excesses and a helpful and quick response to any claims

muppet1501 · 26/12/2015 09:51

Reasonable prices, better discounts. Same price online if you phone up.

The things I want from a Car Insurance policy are similar to those I have just posted about on the Home insurance policy thread.

Fair/competitive prices, all inclusive, without the premium increasing dramatically each year. Loyalty rewards should be offered, rather than lucrative incentives to attract new customers.

Call centres should be UK based, standard costs, with none of the telephone mazes that some companies adopt.

Terms and conditions should be revised and any 'jargon' or unintelligible gobblydegook got rid of. T & C should be straightforward, plain and simple, and displayed in larger text.

Policies should be more inclusive, rather than offering multiple add-ons which are more costly. What seems to be a reasonable quote can be much too expensive when extra requirements are added.

Also, teenagers are keen to drive but the cost of insurance makes it prohibitive. Innovation is needed to reward safe young drivers, and to encourage better driving practises.

Any claims should be dealt with fairly and sympathetically, with minimum hassle. Also rewards offered for customers who have no claims.

Swift action! I pay my money so I want to know that in the event of needing services I will get it. The last thing I want is argumentive trauma at a stressful time anyway. I want legal cover as this day and age everyone is on the 'lets sue for compensation' bandwagon!

Ganne1 · 26/12/2015 10:06

Competitive prices given automatically on renewal rather than having to chase insurance companies for them

retromummy · 26/12/2015 10:09

BoltonBex · 26/12/2015 11:00

Same renewal price as new customers get

7flipper7 · 26/12/2015 11:09

A good price with low excess and that should I ever be in an accident the claim is dealt with swiftly and easily as I reply on my car for work.

hannonle · 26/12/2015 11:53

Loyalty discounts would be nice. Built-in roadside assistance/recovery, a fair excess level and a competitive price.

lilmiztam22 · 26/12/2015 12:02

A fair and honest deal with multi-car deals and a strong no claims policy included. Free car washes would be a nice added bonus though! ;)

cazzzie987 · 26/12/2015 12:05

A reasonable price, we have only claimed twice in the past eight years and neither of those were our fault So why do we get punished?

wjanice121 · 26/12/2015 12:10
