We’ve been asked by Sheilas' Wheels to find out what Mumsnetters want from their Car Insurance policy.

They say "we appreciate that Car insurance isn't something you think about every day, however, should you need it you want to know everything is covered."

So what would be your ideal car insurance policy? Should it include a number of complimentary car washes each year? Any extras to keep your family safe when motoring?

Whatever you’d like from your car insurance policy, Sheilas' Wheels would love to hear your thoughts and ideas. Who knows, you could help shape the future of car insurance?

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks,

clear policies, competitive and reasonable costs, good customer service from polite and knowledgeable staff and hassle-free service

katieskatie82 · 07/01/2016 00:23

cheap monthly payments with breakdown cover and offer of courtesy car

Bechoole · 07/01/2016 16:52

The lowest price - I shouldn't have to shop around when I have been a good non claiming customer for X years.

Recently changed insurers after 5-6 years and saved half what I was paying, I felt ripped off

Cintacmrs123 · 07/01/2016 18:54

that the replacement car will have four doors and a boot big enough for a pram and shopping - micro hatchbacks are not fun with kids

ptak5566 · 07/01/2016 19:59

I would like to be able to understand the small print and a quick and efficient claim service is always good.

sarah3875 · 08/01/2016 09:31

Echoing what many have said and same as my other insurance policies. Better renewal pricing. Why is it always such a hike forcing me to go elsewhere?

gp12 · 08/01/2016 10:27

Low cost

myusername12345 · 08/01/2016 17:00

Just the cheapest price, and without having to dig out my old insurance letter to know how much it was last year.

I'd like stable renewal prices when you remain accident free. Free membership to a roadside recovery organisation and a courtesy car should something go wrong.

mumpetuk1 · 08/01/2016 20:29

Fair and competitive prices for whole family car insurances

matphil · 09/01/2016 14:40

I'd like a decent honest price most of all, I don't want any added gimmicks as we would no doubt be paying for them on our policies anyway.
I'd like customer loyalty, rather than giving new customers cheaper quotes loyal customers should get them.
I change insurance companies every year as I always get a lot higher renewal price than I get on comparison sites. I don't phone my insurance company to get a better deal as they should have been honest enough to give me their best price to start with, not just when I choose to cancel.

Mariasoad · 09/01/2016 14:54

A company with excellent customer service

AutumnElla · 09/01/2016 16:31

I just want an insurance company that gets things sorted out as quickly as possible with no hassle if something does go wrong.

turboshandy · 09/01/2016 20:39

A competitive rate. Why is it that buying car insurance is like a game? Far too many inconsistencies with prices quoted (from comparison sites). Also surprising when renewal quotes come through very high - are they just relying on complacency and hope that people won't shop around?

favorito · 10/01/2016 10:27

Best price offered to EXISTING customers when renewing.
Reasonable excess.

sootyo · 10/01/2016 10:33

Reasonable premiums.
Friendly supportive assistance if needed.
All inclusive policy, without the added £... for legal assistance, no claims, hire car etc etc.
No gimmicky free gifts .
Fair renewal

markrayner1982 · 10/01/2016 10:53

Be nice to have one that didn't keep going up all the time, even though I am getting more no claims. The customer service on my insurance now is so bad and the only reason I stay is to get my no claims bonus for the year in March, then I'm off.

Jocelynne123 · 10/01/2016 11:40

I want a car insurance that I can trust. That I know will not look for ways out of paying out. My mother had what she thought was a good insurance policy. Her car was badly damaged due to flooding. She tried to claim and they gave her no where near what her car was worth. She had no choice but to take it and went from having a very good car to a one that is very unreliable.

chr1ssy0908 · 10/01/2016 12:41

Just a bit of peace of mind! I don't mind paying slightly higher premiums and a reasonable excess, I just want to know that if something DOES happen then I am completely covered, and that I don't have to take the car to some dodgy repair shop 40 miles away! :(

cornsnake · 10/01/2016 13:09

Premiums not being jacked up when I have never had an accident in 30 years yet every year the price goes up.

angiesandhu1 · 10/01/2016 15:07

a good price, for loyal customers not just new ones

MissChrisOfficial · 10/01/2016 16:01

A good price, low excess, free windscreen repair, friendly UK call centres with a free helpline and a courtesy car offered.

HelenPlant · 10/01/2016 17:00

I want a competitive price with no loopholes so that you're not covered if you are involved in an accident.

castleton · 10/01/2016 19:47

Quick reaction if I have an accident
