We’ve been asked by Sheilas' Wheels to find out what Mumsnetters want from their Home Insurance policy.

They say "we appreciate that Home insurance isn't something you think about every day, however, should you need it you want to know everything is covered."

So, is it better cover levels that you look for? Perhaps it’s more confidence in your provider's service or maybe something to keep your family safe when you take out a policy?

Whatever you’d like from your Home Insurance policy, Sheilas' Wheels would like to hear them.

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks,

I am totally happy with my insurance so no grumbles here.

helly27 · 27/12/2015 21:23

no claims discount

sarah861421 · 27/12/2015 21:25

simplification. I dont know how much my house would cost to rebuild, I dont know a realistic value of my contents etc

shawbarbara · 27/12/2015 21:29

A fair renewal price - good honest help when things go wrong - quick and fair customer services

MAT12 · 27/12/2015 21:54

premiums to come down each year if you havent claimed. A discount each year for being loyal and to make the whole claiming more easy.

CalliopeTorres · 27/12/2015 22:24

Clear and simple policies with an easy claim process, everything included in the price, accidental damage as standard. Loyalty rewards, stop screwing us when it comes to renewal time.

gamerwidow · 27/12/2015 22:39

I want a straightforward policy which covers accidental damage and mobile devices even out of the home.
Also want premiums to come down every year otherwise I won't stay.

sweetsomethings · 28/12/2015 00:21

for them not to put prices up every year and to match competitors

Joan049 · 28/12/2015 07:46

Piece of mind. I want easy to understand terms rather than page after page of technical and complex terms that are difficult to understand. I want to know that if ever I do need to claim then it will be an easy and quick process.

Bostin · 28/12/2015 08:13

Yearly reminders! We once had a policy we paid for in one go as it was cheaper. Then a year after it expired we realised it had lapsed and we had not renewed it. If anything had happened...

AnimalAddict · 28/12/2015 10:21

A policy that is easy to understand & a UK based call centre with good customer service :)

lizd31 · 28/12/2015 10:25

low excess, no claims bonuses, accidental damage & quick call outs for emergencies. I have a policy with Homeserve which covers me for all my gas, electric, drains, plumbing, pest problems, things which my home insurance won't, but it would be nice to be covered all on the same policy

annandale · 28/12/2015 10:36

I have a huge excess for our flood policy and I really don't care provided they will actually insure me - it's £2,500 which is nothing compared to the total cost if the chips were actually down. I am OK with big excesses if the policy is solid and will actually pay out if necessary.

Nix143 · 28/12/2015 13:02

I need to know when I claim that it will be dealt with correctly and the insurance company won't try to wriggle out or make me feel guilty

Demonwarx · 28/12/2015 13:03

UK based call centre and easy to understand terms and guides.

jelleng · 28/12/2015 14:23

Someone who calls you back when they say they will and just one person who works on your claim and is your contact

IonaAilidh11 · 28/12/2015 14:41

uk call centre, good service

feefeegabor · 28/12/2015 15:08

I'd like important items replaced quickly

BizziLiz · 28/12/2015 15:39

I'd like a UK-based claims line available 24/7, and a named person to handle my claim and keep in regular contact with me. (I'm quite content to have regular contact by email, just as long as it is regular.)

I'd also like loyalty discounts to even the playing field up between new internet applicants and those of us who've found a good reliable company and would like to keep our business with them.

StickChildNumberTwo · 28/12/2015 16:42

Cover for the whole contents without having to try and work out what it's all worth.

Best prices available to new customers and renewals without having to compare every year and argue the case to get the same price as a new customer.

New for old replacements.

ladymadonna1 · 28/12/2015 16:47

More competitive renewal prices - this would save a lot of customers the hassle of changing provider every year in order to save money. It would be good if insurance companies rewarded loyalty.

Minnibix · 28/12/2015 16:53

I would like applying for home insurance to be less complicated without page after page of t&c's which you don't fully understand but know that there is a chance that they will come back and bite you on the bum should you have to put in a claim. An easy claims process dealing with UK call centres and either a no claims or a loyalty discount.

mo3733 · 28/12/2015 17:56

no small print and policies to be more reader friendly

Dapootz · 28/12/2015 18:01

Less complicated small print
Offering the same special prices to loyal customers as new ones
Treating customers fairly when they need to make a claim instead of treating them like they are trying to con money out of the insurer!

Soosieboo · 28/12/2015 18:01

Where do i start!!
Make it easier to compare whats included.
Make it easier to see what is included
Don't send a renewal letter saying 'We are happy to inform you of your renewal cost' and then charge us 3 times what you pay as a new customer!
This year my combined was nearly £800, i cancelled and bought as a new customer for £280 for almost exactly the same policy!
