Snazaroo have asked us to find out what Mumsnetters’ Halloween face painting tips are.

Here’s what they say, “Letting children just be children, to play, run and imagine is important for every parent and a little face paint can transform everyday play into a magical world of make-believe.

"Sometimes face painting can be tricky but we’re here to help. We’re always thinking of easy ways for you to create designs children love. As they turn to see who is in the mirror, the magic shared will be remembered long after the paint has been rinsed away.

"Go on, paint a smile and see what happens”

So, what face painting tips or designs do you have to share with other Mumsnetters for the spookiest time of year? Maybe you have an easy three step design to transform your DC into a vampire? Perhaps you've got that skeleton look down pat or are good at turning out mini monsters or weeny witches? Also, is there anything in particular you enjoy about face painting? Is it the creativity of it? Or seeing how much your DCs enjoy it? Whatever it is, we’d love to hear it!

It would be particularly great if you could also post a picture on this thread of your Halloween face painting prowess Grin

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 Love2Shop voucher!

Thanks

My daughter doesn't like facepaint around her eyes or mouth so we have to keep it simple. Halloween usually consists of a cat nose and whiskers on her cheeks

Thanks MN, what a lovely surprise!

annmariecrawford · 21/10/2015 13:55

I use baby wipes and lots of moisturizer after when removing

Natasha7 · 21/10/2015 14:56

Use simple face painting designs, it's faster and more visible. Let the kids see the progress half way through.

baconbap · 21/10/2015 17:16

I painted my daughters face white then made her eyes and lips look big. Nearly scared me. x

Take your time and use a spray bottle to wet your paints not your sponges this way you control how much paint you load up :)

zatuns · 23/10/2015 21:16

I try to use as few colours as possible. For skeleton face just black and white and a pumpkin type face orange with black. Kids love it last year they painted their faces green and went as Shrek

msmummyoftwo · 24/10/2015 14:21

Using shadows and highlights can make a look really pop

sallyann123 · 24/10/2015 18:59

Plenty of white or similar pale colours for a Ghoulish look then add to that! Use a damp sponge to apply face paint

sophiehinson123 · 25/10/2015 12:04

bex552 · 26/10/2015 09:07

i used cheap special effects makeup for the zombie nun look, i think i looked pretty awesome!

sandrabald · 26/10/2015 12:49

Always be careful with face paints around the eye area
Really important for young children who may rub their eyes & get the face paint in them

CarisseCreations · 26/10/2015 18:46

Face Paints Are A New Found Love Of Mine! It Start By Buying A Cheap Halloween Set For A £1! Big Mistake So That Would Be My Recommendation ...You Get What You Pay For, They are Way Too Waxy And Ruin The Sponge As Are 100% Waterproof (Yes That Was Fun To Remove Of Their Poor Little Painted Faces) ! Snazaroo Are The Only Branded Face Paints You Can Seem To Find In My Area Of England, And They Are Genuinely Brilliant! Blending, Mixing And Vivid! And Of Course Seeing The Child's Reaction To Seeing Their Transformation To To Anything They Desire, Is The Best Part! I Do Videos On My Kid's Face Painting And I'm Not Sure Who Enjoys It More!
Happy Halloween Everyone! Halloween Smile
