As schools re-open and your DCs go back to school, the team at Mini Milk would love to know what special treatment your DCs get to help them ease back in to school.

Mini Milk say "Small but perfectly formed, the Mini Milk is a firm favourite within the Wall's range of ice creams. With a choice of three delicious flavours -Vanilla, Strawberry and Chocolate - it's a perfect tasty treat you can feel confident giving to your kids. With children going back to school after the summer holidays, we know that it can be tough to get them back into a routine. So, we'd like to hear about any tips and treats you have for the back to school transition period"

So, do your DCs get any special treats or treatment when they go back to school? Maybe they get a special after school treat for the first week or two after going back to school? Perhaps you try to make the morning routine into a fun game? Or maybe you like to buy them a brand new pencil case?

Whatever special treats or treatment your DCs get when going back to school, Mini Milk would love to hear about it.

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £300 John Lewis voucher.

Please note your comments may be included on Mini Milk's social media channels, and possibly elsewhere, so please only post if you're comfortable with this.

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

I take them out for tea after first day back, nice to be out and not at home with toy and cooking distractions so they can actually tell me about their new teachers and first day back

HelenPlant · 15/09/2015 21:41

Yes, they get to choose what the family watches on TV all evening and I cook their favourite meal every night.

cagsd · 15/09/2015 21:59

Nothing special other than their new bags / pencil cases / stationery! I have 3 kids and they all go back to school every year, I can't afford to make that much of a fuss!

melmoo · 15/09/2015 22:00

They get extra attention and more questions on how it's going. But that's about it.

annarack99 · 15/09/2015 22:08

A lift to school on the first day

BettyBlueToo · 15/09/2015 22:44

Some new stationery - rubbers, notebooks etc. Homemade pizza and crispy cakes on the first day back. Letting them just chill out after school.

timeforabrewnow · 16/09/2015 08:53

Nope - no special treatment here. Back to business as usual. Having said that, my 14 year old has worked extra hard on the first pieces of homework given and I did buy him a packet of tic tacs as a reward

skyeskyeskye · 16/09/2015 10:35

DD went into Class 3 so needed her own pencil case for the first time this year, so we went shopping so she could pick her own stuff out.

On the first day back we usually have a nice chocolate cake for tea as it is DD's favourite.

sadiewoohoo · 16/09/2015 14:46

We always go out for fast food on the first day of term. I usually g a bit easier on them behaviourwise till they get back in the routine.

Cocacolaandchocolate · 16/09/2015 15:46

Tea of choice on the first day back and greeted home with hot chocolate and marshmallows when he gets home .

HitsAndMrs · 16/09/2015 17:40

They get to stay up late on Fridays and have treats and choose a film.

DinosaursRoar · 16/09/2015 20:09

their choice of dinner after first day, a new keyring for on the book bag, but that's about it.

iwasyoungonce · 16/09/2015 20:45

New school bags, and on their first day back we went to the sweet shop on the way home and watched a film together when we got in. We'd all really missed each other! Grin

jandoc · 16/09/2015 20:52

I give them an extra special lunch box

SleepyForest · 16/09/2015 20:56

We have to practice getting up a 7 again for a few days beforehand.

MangoDaiquiri · 16/09/2015 22:38

DD got some new fancy hair clips for going back to school. Nothing apart from that!

ozbird1 · 16/09/2015 22:48

A new pencil tin with some nice news pencils and pens in to go in his new school homework bag which is part of his school uniform :o)

down2earthwithabump · 17/09/2015 12:06

Usually a new uniform and shoes (freshly polished) for first day back after the summer, and on collection home for a nice piece of cake Cake and tea of choice and I turn my back on any chores not yet achieved post holidays to make sure there is time for cuddles and a chat and all the attention is on her and how her day went.

ahbollocks · 17/09/2015 17:28

New wellies of her choice!
Odd but true, dd has a massive fondness for wellies so we trawl around the shops trying to find a pair that are just right.
This year's numbers are multi coloured with big bows on the front.Grin

mwatmough · 17/09/2015 19:01

No treats but I just replace the items that they need for lessons

Wilhamenawonka · 18/09/2015 09:38

No treats but lots of cuddles for a very tired little girl and I arranged some time on my own with her at the weekend so she didn't feel as jealous of her little sister staying at home

steveyh · 18/09/2015 11:39

No, nothing special!

gazzalw · 18/09/2015 12:45

No special treatment really - why would you??? Did we?

strewthie71 · 18/09/2015 14:45

Yes my beautiful children only got one boot up the backside instead of two !

Elizasmum02 · 18/09/2015 18:27

We usually go out for a meal on the first day of school
