As schools re-open and your DCs go back to school, the team at Mini Milk would love to know what special treatment your DCs get to help them ease back in to school.

Mini Milk say "Small but perfectly formed, the Mini Milk is a firm favourite within the Wall's range of ice creams. With a choice of three delicious flavours -Vanilla, Strawberry and Chocolate - it's a perfect tasty treat you can feel confident giving to your kids. With children going back to school after the summer holidays, we know that it can be tough to get them back into a routine. So, we'd like to hear about any tips and treats you have for the back to school transition period"

So, do your DCs get any special treats or treatment when they go back to school? Maybe they get a special after school treat for the first week or two after going back to school? Perhaps you try to make the morning routine into a fun game? Or maybe you like to buy them a brand new pencil case?

Whatever special treats or treatment your DCs get when going back to school, Mini Milk would love to hear about it.

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £300 John Lewis voucher.

Please note your comments may be included on Mini Milk's social media channels, and possibly elsewhere, so please only post if you're comfortable with this.

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

The main thing I do is try and cut them some slack for being more tired and moody for a while. I also try and be super organised. I wouldn't want them worrying about something i've forgotten!

barker99 · 18/09/2015 22:19

We did have ice cream as a treat :)

We did an art project with the boys the day before going back to school this year. Then on their first day they had something they were proud of to show their teacher. It really worked for my 4 year old who just started school a few weeks ago as he was soo proud of his art he forgot to be nervous (he is usually very nervous). He didn't even look back as we left because he was showing his class mates his dinosaur project.

Then when the boys came home they told us their stories and we treated them with a stack of pancakes for tea!

Ive never done this, not with my older children or my youngest.

My little boy started in reception this week. I bought him a Star Wars figure and a good luck card. Also a bag of giant chocolate buttons. x

At the start of each school year they get a book with a good luck in year whatever message written in the front wrapped up and put on their pile of clothes for the morning

maursieq · 20/09/2015 08:06

Takeaway or meal out on the last night of the hols then back to normal for school days

krnries · 20/09/2015 10:47

We do nothing for them going back to school, except they get bought anything they genuinely need. And we just breathe a sigh of relief because my younger daughter hates the holiday club that she has to go to!

Spencer1234 · 20/09/2015 11:23

A new school bag and drink bottle to take to school :-)

sootyo · 20/09/2015 12:59

Write a joke on paper and pop it into the lunch box

maxxximus · 20/09/2015 15:10

No, why should they.

cootuk · 20/09/2015 16:01

No special treatment, but talk to them after to make sure everything is ok and they know whats going on

12LuDo · 20/09/2015 16:37

My son took a very long time to get used to the fact he had to go to school, lol, so I always have a treat ready for him when he returns to school willingly after the long summer holiday!

baconbap · 20/09/2015 17:16

no particular treats, but expect them to be more tired

wanderingwondering · 20/09/2015 17:21

New school bag of their choice. Backfired this year as dd's choice was too small for her homework book so had to replace with a larger one after the first couple of days.

balloon66 · 20/09/2015 17:44

No treat here- they look forward to going back to school because they enjoy it

OrnamentalAsAnything · 20/09/2015 17:47

My school-aged child has the treat of not having to go to school. :) (home-schooled).

imustbemadme · 20/09/2015 18:49

Hell no, are they going to get 'special treatment' because they go to work everyday....er no!!!!

xxgeexx · 20/09/2015 19:20

mine have new bags coats, etc. and pencil cases. they love it xx

Kangakate · 20/09/2015 20:09

While it's still light we like to go to the park or take the dog for a walk after school and before homework, they love getting out and exploring, if they've had a really good week at school then we have pizza friday or if they get an award they get something out of the treat book, which has some craft projects in it for the weekend

knitnut24 · 20/09/2015 20:12

McDonalds on Friday.

marshgirl · 20/09/2015 20:48

No treats here, I wouldn't want her thinking every time she goes back to school after a school holiday she should be rewarded.
