As schools re-open and your DCs go back to school, the team at Mini Milk would love to know what special treatment your DCs get to help them ease back in to school.

Mini Milk say "Small but perfectly formed, the Mini Milk is a firm favourite within the Wall's range of ice creams. With a choice of three delicious flavours -Vanilla, Strawberry and Chocolate - it's a perfect tasty treat you can feel confident giving to your kids. With children going back to school after the summer holidays, we know that it can be tough to get them back into a routine. So, we'd like to hear about any tips and treats you have for the back to school transition period"

So, do your DCs get any special treats or treatment when they go back to school? Maybe they get a special after school treat for the first week or two after going back to school? Perhaps you try to make the morning routine into a fun game? Or maybe you like to buy them a brand new pencil case?

Whatever special treats or treatment your DCs get when going back to school, Mini Milk would love to hear about it.

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £300 John Lewis voucher.

Please note your comments may be included on Mini Milk's social media channels, and possibly elsewhere, so please only post if you're comfortable with this.

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

elizwall123 · 20/09/2015 21:18

A lift to school for the firat week

grannybiker · 20/09/2015 21:42

New shoes and pencil cases, then their favourite tea when they get home

Gill81uk · 20/09/2015 21:43

I find myself treating them more but it's mainly because I'm missing them so it's nice to think of little things to give them during the day. I try and keep them eating healthily though as I think this is important for their studies.

ceroooss · 20/09/2015 21:51

I always let them choose their favourite meal when they come home and promise them a school related treat e.g. stationary on the weekend.

cluckyhen · 20/09/2015 21:57

Not at all - they get the bits & pieces that they need but they need to get back into a routine that doesn't include treats!

matphil · 20/09/2015 22:26

Just new pencil case filled with new pens and anything else they might need.

wooohooo · 20/09/2015 22:32

My son isn't really keen on school so I have to 'big it up' about how much more grown up he is now he is a year older and that he will get to do much cooler things in school and he will be able to see all his friends.

ButtonMoonLoon · 20/09/2015 23:45

Lots of extra cuddles and keeping things calm and quiet, long bath times with dimmed lights and a slow bedtime that offers plenty of time together to chat.
I find her extra sensitive at transition times so usually take some time off work just to be around more.

Just as my mum used to make for me...chocolate cake baked and ready for them coming home!!

just a little treat and home comfort we will sit over tea and cake and discuss their 1st day, moan about their homework, how their new shoes rubbed their toes and how lovely it was to see their friends!!

Everything seems better after a snuggle from your mummy and a slice of homemade chocolate cake!!

MrRichTea · 21/09/2015 00:37

A cheeky fizzy drink & a treat for being good over the summer :)

carpathian · 21/09/2015 01:01

tubbyj · 21/09/2015 01:16

No food treats, more play after school etc before gently removing

TiggersAngel7774 · 21/09/2015 01:22

I try to get haircut ,all new uniform for first few days even if old fits. New winter jacket.

edoody · 21/09/2015 06:32

Thankfully both of mine love school and can't wait to go back so no treats required! We just gradually move the bedtime to earlier so the early wake up isn't so much of a shock!

VickyRsuperstar · 21/09/2015 07:36

Mine all get a new pencil case and stationery for the new term. I've also written an individual little note and put it in the pencil case for the kids to read which encourages them for the next year. One of my boys keeps the note in his case for the entire year!
The kids always get a snack treat after school on the first day (sometimes a couple of times on the first week back) as a pick me up and a celebration of starting the new term. We usually nip into the local express supermarket to and get a box of ice-lollies and sometimes these are mini-milks as they love them. They usually all want the strawberry ones and I make sure that the baby gets vanilla not chocolate!

piggypoo · 21/09/2015 08:21

They get new stationery which they choose and then we have on the Friday, family movie night, with their choice of nibbles and film! ;)

FUZZ62 · 21/09/2015 08:25

not special treatment as such, however i do reward more the first few weeks of school for star of the day/week, great comments in the reading book etc

Pimmpom · 21/09/2015 09:57

Not sure if it is special treatment but always seem to need new bags and pencil cases etc so we go out together to buy these. They are then excited to use them on the first day back. :)

PhilTB54 · 21/09/2015 12:00

Usual stuff pencil cases, pencils and rubbers etc. and a pizza of choice.

nanoobaku · 21/09/2015 12:58

ser01 · 21/09/2015 13:19

mumpetuk1 · 21/09/2015 13:39

I always make sure they have exactly what they need for their first day. I do not treat them any different though.
