As schools re-open and your DCs go back to school, the team at Mini Milk would love to know what special treatment your DCs get to help them ease back in to school.

Mini Milk say "Small but perfectly formed, the Mini Milk is a firm favourite within the Wall's range of ice creams. With a choice of three delicious flavours -Vanilla, Strawberry and Chocolate - it's a perfect tasty treat you can feel confident giving to your kids. With children going back to school after the summer holidays, we know that it can be tough to get them back into a routine. So, we'd like to hear about any tips and treats you have for the back to school transition period"

So, do your DCs get any special treats or treatment when they go back to school? Maybe they get a special after school treat for the first week or two after going back to school? Perhaps you try to make the morning routine into a fun game? Or maybe you like to buy them a brand new pencil case?

Whatever special treats or treatment your DCs get when going back to school, Mini Milk would love to hear about it.

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £300 John Lewis voucher.

Please note your comments may be included on Mini Milk's social media channels, and possibly elsewhere, so please only post if you're comfortable with this.

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

A trip to the ice cream parlour and some lovely treats for supper on the first week back. New pencil case for DS and new hair accessories for DD

Breakfast cereal they wouldn't normally have, like Sugar Puffs (or Honey Monster Puffs as they seem to be called these days...)

No just a good nights sleep after a hectic day at school usually perks them up

finleypop · 11/09/2015 16:35

We always go out for dinner on our sons first day back at school.

hiddenmichelle · 11/09/2015 16:35

New lunchbox and waterbottle of their choice

pixies13 · 11/09/2015 16:39

just new pens and pencils and a kiss for luck

ThemisA · 11/09/2015 16:41

A few treats such as a new pencil case and a few bits to fill it help to make them exited. After school I cook their favourite meal and whatever pudding they want me to make.

DD1 is just 5 and is now in year1. Apart from a whole new uniform set and a new drinks bottle we didn't get her anything special. However, she'd undertaken a week's intensive swim class at the end of Aug and then started weekly lessons, so she got a special gift when she completed the week's intensive (an ariel doll) and a new swim mask, so she did get 'treats'!

Not really. Our teens enjoyed school. I suppose we got rather closer together in those first few weeks as we missed having them around all through the summer break.

kungfupidge · 11/09/2015 16:52

maryandbuzz1 · 11/09/2015 17:00

We make an effort to invite new classmates over for tea to help him cement friendships.

purplepandas · 11/09/2015 17:00

I did give some choc on the first day (bad mother). Other than that not really. Just try and keep things quiet as they are so tired!

Chopstheduck · 11/09/2015 17:07

No!

never occured to me, to be honest. They are happy enough at the thought of going back to school and spending time with their friends again.

Cailin7 · 11/09/2015 17:11

No special treatment but they do get new stationery supplies and a new school bag.

shivbrown · 11/09/2015 17:12

No, I don't treat mine to anything. My son is always happy and excited when he goes back to school.

pixelwife · 11/09/2015 17:27

I'm not sure about special treatment but we try to say yes to as much as we can after school like dinner choices, when to have a bath etc to make the whole transition to a new class less stressful. We also make sure bedtime is nice and early as those first few days are always really tiring for my son (and for me as well!).

leannemoore · 11/09/2015 17:29

We go to the park after school for little treats .

mave · 11/09/2015 17:44

They've always been fine as I try not mollycoddle them! They do have new stuff for school but that's it!

renas · 11/09/2015 17:47

New pencil case, pens and water bottle

samosh22 · 11/09/2015 17:50

Yes I cook them their favorite meal

7flipper7 · 11/09/2015 18:31

I always like to send them off with new lunch boxes and stationary but my eldest is a bit stuck in his ways and likes everything that is familiar to him like his old mouldy lunchbox so I have to buy the same and design and replace it without him knowing!

glennamy · 11/09/2015 18:36

No special treats as DD was happy to be going back to school...
