As schools re-open and your DCs go back to school, the team at Mini Milk would love to know what special treatment your DCs get to help them ease back in to school.

Mini Milk say "Small but perfectly formed, the Mini Milk is a firm favourite within the Wall's range of ice creams. With a choice of three delicious flavours -Vanilla, Strawberry and Chocolate - it's a perfect tasty treat you can feel confident giving to your kids. With children going back to school after the summer holidays, we know that it can be tough to get them back into a routine. So, we'd like to hear about any tips and treats you have for the back to school transition period"

So, do your DCs get any special treats or treatment when they go back to school? Maybe they get a special after school treat for the first week or two after going back to school? Perhaps you try to make the morning routine into a fun game? Or maybe you like to buy them a brand new pencil case?

Whatever special treats or treatment your DCs get when going back to school, Mini Milk would love to hear about it.

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £300 John Lewis voucher.

Please note your comments may be included on Mini Milk's social media channels, and possibly elsewhere, so please only post if you're comfortable with this.

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

Yes they did. We bought them a gift as a reward

My daughter still thinks school is the best so didn't really need anything, but I did get her a little bag of sweets when I met her after her first day.

My husband and I always make an effort to both be there to drop off on the first day at school and we'll get a treat for afterwards. My second daughter started school for the first time this year and we made a big fuss. She had a last day of freedom where we took her out for lunch (her choice) and to the cinema and then once we'd picked up her older sister we went to a soft play. We also got her a present which we gave her when she'd completed her first day.

A new film with some snacks, their choice of dinner in or a take away! Maybe some new pens or equipment which will come in handy.

WarmHugs · 12/09/2015 07:17

Each DC gets a day out with me in the last week of holidays. Just us two, and their choice of where to go.

I love the one on one time!

Moggerhammer · 12/09/2015 09:32

Home educating my son now so reward is not having to put uncomfortable uniform on and work in relaxed style at home. My eldest two still love new stationery even though they are 16 and 17.

barbsbarbs · 12/09/2015 09:56

i make it a tradition to take my kids out to afternoon tea the day before they go back, then we get those little extras for school like stationary pens.

SoupDragon · 12/09/2015 10:02

I buy them new clothing and new shoes...

Commonly known as school uniform Wink

beckyinman · 12/09/2015 10:42

I normally just put an extra little treat in their lunch box on day 1 and we normally have a little celebration of the summer holidays the night before they go back

LaundryFairy · 12/09/2015 10:43

I make an extra effort to make DS' favourite meals on the first couple of days back at school.

sweetsomethings · 12/09/2015 11:36

yeah i give them breakfast in bed every morning

sleepyelectricsheep · 12/09/2015 11:45

DS loves school, it's never occurred to me to give him a treat for going back there! Also as others have said, he gets so many treats in the holiday.

He does get a haircut (which he enjoys), new shoes and a funky new water bottle though.

mrshjadams · 12/09/2015 11:59

Ice cream at the end of the first day, a great treat for them (and me!)

pjsaville999 · 12/09/2015 12:49

A good lunch!

suzyq50 · 12/09/2015 13:36

I buy them some new stationery & school bag.

Also a family meal out at the end of the first week.

LuckyBluie · 12/09/2015 14:05

New toy the first day and every Friday, plus their choice of dinner on the first day back Smile

fm201069 · 12/09/2015 14:45

a special tea the night before

createbeauty · 12/09/2015 15:17

My son loves school and sees going as a treat in itself! I do treat myself to some extra time with my son when he comes home, however, usually playing whatever game he wants or reading whatever book he wants.

nicsal05 · 12/09/2015 15:51

When I picked up my daughter from her first day back I took her her favourite Gingerbread man for a first day treat but no other special treatment really, she loves school so that's all the treats she needs !

kpdchudleigh · 12/09/2015 16:32

I was lucky enough to spend part of my childhood in Germany and love their tradition of cones filled with sweets and gifts for the first day of the new school term. I wish the cones were available here to do the same.

chrin · 12/09/2015 16:36

no, they are expected to behave and adapt to the new school year and they do

hannonle · 12/09/2015 16:40

Nope, nothing special here aside from the stuff they actually need such as new lunchboxes.

AnonymousBird · 12/09/2015 16:42

Always lunch out with DH near his office on last working day, big treat - train to London and everything!

And we stopped at the corner shop for a special treat on the way home!

DD had "special treatment" - no homework first week, but DS (final year of junior school) had it on DAY ONE!!!!

IsabellaofFrance · 12/09/2015 16:45

A new water bottle and new shoes. DD likes school and couldn't wait to get back this year. She is too young for pencil cases yet.
