We've been asked by comparethemarket.com to find out about who Mumsnetters' ideal celebrity cinema buddy is.

So, if you could buddy up on a trip to the cinema with any celebrity or historical figure, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

Nick Knowles, I just love everything about him!

It would have to be David Beckham, I bet he has got loads of good stories to tell.

For good films I'd like someone quiet. But for bad films Jack Dee would be perfect.

Has to be Ed Sheeran because i love his music loads and he seems a lovely guy! xx

David Walliams, we'd probably annoy everyone else in the cinema though because we'd be non stop giggling!

Alan Davies - he'd be a good laugh!

I'd pick Kevin Bacon, I've got a feeling he's a right laugh and he knows everyone ;)

As I'd be busy watching the film and not needing a cinema buddy for conversation, I'd pick David Beckham so I could squeeze his muscly footballers legs throughout the film. I'm pretty sure he'd smell gorgeous too!

Tim Burton. Mainly cause I'm slightly obsessed with him but also cause I reckon it could be interesting to discuss the film cinematography with him afterwards.

It would have to be Chris Rock as he is so funny. Probably wouldn't watch much of the film though

Jason Statham -more for after the show though!

Ellen DeGeneres. She's absolutely funny and just a legend.

I would love to go with Jamie Oliver - everything would be pukkka!

Jamie Dornan...for obvious reasons!

Walt Disney - would love to know what he thought of today's film directors and producers

Stephen Fry would be an amusing companion
