We've been asked by comparethemarket.com to find out about who Mumsnetters' ideal celebrity cinema buddy is.

Here’s what comparethemarket.com say: "Everyone loves the movies but it wouldn’t be anywhere near as fun without your chosen companions, whether that be your children, your best friend or your partner."

So, if you could buddy up on a trip to the cinema with any celebrity or historical figure, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

Everyone who leaves their comment will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky Mumsnetter will win a £300 John Lewis voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

PS: Compare the Market also say “MEERKAT MOVIES offers 2 for 1 cinema tickets every Tuesday or Wednesday for a whole year when you make a qualifying purchase through comparethemarket.com*. This could be as little as purchasing a single trip travel insurance policy which on average costs just £25.44 - making it one of the most generous rewards programmes available.”

chris hemsworth because if the film is dull I can just watch him ;)

Lurleene · 26/04/2015 18:30

Umar Siddiqui from Gogglebox - he has already proven he is my ideal TV watching companion so now we should take it to the next level and watch a film.

linheiner · 26/04/2015 18:33

Woody Allen - I love his dry sense of humour so would be great to hear his comments on the film!

NelAllan · 26/04/2015 18:35

Vic Reeves. If the movie wasn't up to much, he would be sure to keep me entertained.

alison991 · 26/04/2015 19:04

Johnny Depp would be fun

Trills · 26/04/2015 19:29

You sit in the dark and you're not supposed to talk.

If I had an amusing and entertaiing celebrity for an evening I wouldn't waste it in the cinema.

yeah · 26/04/2015 19:30

Humphrey Bogart. He is dead so won't talk through the film. As he died before mobile phones were invented he won't be answering his, checking the time or doing any other anti-social-bright-screen-stuff. And after the film we can go to a bar, drink hard liquor and talk about his movies.

JWalker23 · 26/04/2015 19:38

Harry Hill must be amazing and so funny right?

I would take Harry Hill :)

janme · 26/04/2015 19:50

Claudia Winkleman

laurapotz · 26/04/2015 19:58

Claudia Winkleman - a fellow mum and seems down to earth and great fun.

jen1984j · 26/04/2015 20:01

Danny Dyer - if the film is borking, i can just stare at him!

el2606 · 26/04/2015 20:02

James Corden, because I think he would be a laugh!

morage · 26/04/2015 20:02

Jo Brand. She would be great fun, we could sneak in a bottle of wine to share, and I could eat sweets without feeling greedy in fun of her. She is intelligent, so would want to go to a decent film as well.

Kandboys · 26/04/2015 20:08

Tom Hanks - love everything he does!

hannah252 · 26/04/2015 20:18

Bradley Cooper

janemphoto · 26/04/2015 20:40

Mark Kermode because he's an expert and Charlie Brooker because he is funny.

claza93 · 26/04/2015 20:47

Johnny Depp - mind you I would miss the film as I wouldn't be able to take my eyes off him!

marshgirl · 26/04/2015 20:54

Danny Dyer, he could put a protective arm around me during those scary movies.

Blondie1982 · 26/04/2015 21:02

Michael Buble

aussiegeckogirl · 26/04/2015 21:18

I would take Brad Pitt, I think it is obvious why!

zbody1 · 26/04/2015 21:25

Stephen Fry , he'd be polite enough to keep quiet during the movie , intelligent enough to talk about it after and I certainly wouldn't have to worry about wandering hands

superkittycat · 26/04/2015 21:29

Benedict Cumberbatch because he is just FAB and because I feel like we could have a good chat about the film afterwards!

emene · 26/04/2015 21:32

For me it would have to be Jim Carey that way if the film wasn't very good he would be able to keep me entertained

mamof3boys · 26/04/2015 21:36

James Cordon as he would be great fun.

brookson · 26/04/2015 21:41

Colin Firth A gentleman yet funny
