The team at Hobbycraft would like to find out the arts and crafts activities you will be doing with your DCs this February half term holiday.

Here’s what Hobbycraft say, “As parents ourselves we know what a challenge it can be to keep the kids entertained away for the TV so for the sake of mum’s everywhere who are in need of inspiration we’d love to know what is your favourite crafting activity to do with the kids?”

The February half term is a tough one on most parents with the weather often keeping children cooped up inside. So what theme will your February half term holiday take? Will you be baking hot goodies to stave off the dreary weather? Will you re-create the outdoors inside by making an indoor den and scenery from recycling? Whatever it is, we want to hear it!

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where three lucky Mumsnetters will win a £100 Hobbycraft gift card.

Thanks and good luck!

i will be visiting our local nature reserve

We have been in the indoor skate park. It's amazing and keeps the boys entertained for hours and I mean hours (9 hours yesterday). The food is very inexpensive and refreshments for the boys are too, the staff are so friendly and they made new friends within minutes of being in there.

We have been out and about at local musuems, soft play and resturants

balloon66 · 22/02/2015 18:58

weve been outside making collages with natural things and finding footprints in the woods

boptanana · 22/02/2015 19:35

We have been doing lots of inside craft activities, cooking cupcakes and enjoying the garden again. It's been lovely and relaxed.

Baking is our usual pastime when I get my two grandsons together.... they love it. Jaret likes making scones and Kris loves making cakes... he made one for his birthday cake.
We are going to have a go again making airplanes! Lolly sticks and wooden clothes pegs ! We did some over Christmas and they wanted to do it again.
We are never bored. It's nicer in summer when we can get out more..but we find all sorts to do.

My DS loves baking, so will be spending time making his favourite cakes and bread. We also want to make a start on seed planting so will spend a couple of days doing that also.

I'll be working but the grandparents will have the pleasure of baking, gardening and a day out at the zoo!

katieskatie82 · 22/02/2015 22:41

lots of crafts! We've done easter cards and egg blowing and painting ready for Easter!

janemphoto · 23/02/2015 00:01

painting and drawing is our favourite.

WyrdByrd · 23/02/2015 04:13

DD (10) and I did some baking - she's getting very good at chocolate fudge cake Smile.

We also had a go at origami as she was given a set of origami fairy lights for Christmas. Luckily I had some spare paper in my craft box - it took several attempts to master tulips - just four more designs to go Confused!

Luckily this half term the weather was dry (apart from one day) so we went on some walks, a trip to a massive park and had a picnic in the car lol (was still a bit cold) but basically as we moved it house it was nice to potter about the house, the boys drawed alot and the day it rained we had a movie day where we stayed in our pj's and made popcorn, was a nice break :)

snare · 23/02/2015 12:00

Swimming and bowling

laurapotz · 23/02/2015 13:14

My DD is only a toddler so not at school yet. But lots of my friends are in education, so half term is a good opportunity to catch up with them and their little ones.

bluebubblerose · 23/02/2015 13:29

having a chilling out week at home x

MissPoppins · 23/02/2015 17:37

Lots and lots of crafting

MaryDunlop99 · 23/02/2015 17:48

We went to The National Space Centre, and the kids came back full of ideas on building space rockets, stars and space suits! All the plastic that went into the recycling bin has just come out!

sarah3875 · 23/02/2015 19:19

They both made a shield for their school homework. They enjoyed creating a coat of arms picture!
