After the success of Breaking Bad, Watch With Mumsnet is back with Better Call Saul, a brand new Original series from Netflix.

In this dark comedic prequel to the Emmy-winning Breaking Bad, we meet ambitious small-time lawyer Jimmy McGill six years before he becomes Walter White’s morally challenged attorney, Saul Goodman. We follow as Jimmy (played by Bob Odenkirk) transforms from an optimistic underdog struggling to make ends meet into the notorious legal legend who puts the criminal in 'criminal lawyer'.

With one episode being released on Netflix each week we’d like you to visit the thread at different points throughout the season and let us know your thoughts on what’s going on. We’ll be updating the thread with new topics of discussion surrounding each week’s episode. Episodes will be release every Tuesday only on Netflix. Everyone who joins the discussion will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will win a Toshiba 40” Full HD Freeview HD Smart LED TV* and 6 month Netflix subscription, a further 5 Mumsnetters will win a Better Call Saul goodybag.

Note on spoilers: We want to hear your thoughts on everything, from plot twists to season finales and more - but if you’re talking anything that could reveal important plot details then please put Spoiler at the beginning of your post to warn others who may not have seen it.

Happy watching,
MNHQ

I watched the first 3 episodes last night, really enjoying it. It was good to see Mike so early on, and Tuco! Grin

mrsbunnyw · 18/02/2015 23:11

I was ambivalent about Breaking Bad but am enjoying this more; as a lawyer, I often get annoyed with inaccuracies in law-based dramas but not yet on this. It's entertaining and I feel more sympathetic towards Saul now than when he was a sleazey lawyer in BB. Particularly like the electro-magneticly fearful brother/uncle Charles.

mclarkie · 19/02/2015 08:39

I must get into watching Breaking Bad now that I have Netflix.

nobutreally · 19/02/2015 08:49

Fondly watched the first two eps so far - agree with others that the first was slow, second was absolutely brilliant! I Didn't think Saul was a character I was fascinated by in BB, so delighted to see Mike and Tuco popping up so early on to keep me involved. Visually, other than a few shits, it hasn't quite hit BB standard for me yet, but will certainly keep watching!

mumsbe · 19/02/2015 10:35

I agree that all episode s on Netflix would be better so I can watch a few at a time. Breaking bad was so addictive I hope this will be as good. Bring breaking bad back!

GatoradeMeBitch · 19/02/2015 11:00

I'm intrigued to discover what a Chicago sunroof is!

Rnb · 19/02/2015 12:12

As a huge BB fan I've been so excited about this. It really didn't disappoint! It is so interesting to see how Jimmy/Saul started out, and the reasons why he got to where he eventually ended up. So good to see Mike again! I felt the style was very similar to BB and it is beautifully shot. Thank god I've got something decent to watch now that BB has finished.

SweetValentine · 19/02/2015 16:04

Yes yes yes! I only realised this was even made last week. I am so excited to dig in, a great idea for a spin off.

staceyshoes · 19/02/2015 20:07

was a little bit of a slow starter but I'm starting to get into it now I've watched episode 2, wait to see what 3 brings!

Princessxo · 19/02/2015 23:23

I have to say it really was good seeing Mike again! BB is really one of my top series right now and I can't wait to see what happens next.

imrankhanpost · 20/02/2015 06:31

i used to download all episodes but now makes it so much easier when you got facility on player rather than access via net.

freakfire · 20/02/2015 08:05

Only seen the first episode so far, but I'm already impressed. Looks like this could become a show in its own right, not just a cheap spin-off as so many are. Obviously, it couldn't be as good as Breaking Bad, and it's harsh in a way to judge it by such high standards, but I'm excited to see more.

sweir123 · 20/02/2015 14:58

I think it is still finding its feet but it really has potential. Besides, it took Breaking bad a fair few episodes to get in the swing of things and origianlly they were going to kill off Jesse in season 1!

Candycandle · 20/02/2015 15:34

Looking forward to seeing the rest of the series. So far, so good.

TengoSueno · 20/02/2015 16:05

There are several references to Chicago Sunroof in the Urban dictionary. I would like to know which one it is. :)

I am still enjoying this. I like how we are going further back and seeing the real Saul / Jimmy. The inclusion of other characters is interesting to try and guess where they might fit in. I am glad we have Mike back as the person we know and love. I am wondering how he will finally join up with Saul. I hope it continues being as interesting.

lucyrobinson · 20/02/2015 16:13

Totally hooked love it. x

MissTFied · 20/02/2015 16:50

We really enjoyed it from the start, and hate having to wait a week as like others on here we binged watched BB.
I don't get the love for Mike though, I could take him or leave him.

Snowflake15 · 20/02/2015 18:48

Loved the 3rd episode! Have a feeling it's just gonna get better and betterGrin

jennie1984j · 20/02/2015 19:50

I thought the end of breaking bad was a cliffhanger - i have seen the first episode of better call saul, but struggling to get into it

GatoradeMeBitch · 20/02/2015 20:50

After rewatching I don't think so jennie. Damn, I can't say because unbelievably there are still people who haven't watched it! Grin

But look at one of the other people in the last shot, what they do and the way they move their head. I don't think it's a cliffhanger.

JWalker23 · 20/02/2015 21:11

I'm not seen this, it looks amazing though and these comments are great,

Hopefully when I win this prize I can then watch it with the Netflix subscription ;)

Gill81uk · 20/02/2015 22:04

I haven't seen it yet but it sounds fab reading everyone's reviews. I didn't really like him on Breaking Bad (he annoyed me) but hubby is keen to watch it so I think we'll give it a go on Netflix.

becky004 · 22/02/2015 02:12

Not as gripping as Breaking Bad, but I think it has got off to a slow start. Have just watched episode 3 and it is starting to grow on me and I have laughed out loud in parts, especially the skateboarders scam.

QOD · 22/02/2015 08:17

Episode 3 much much bettwr ...

Franmat · 22/02/2015 10:06

We watched the first three last night. I was predisposed to being disappointed because I loved Breaking Bad so much and couldn't see how it could match it but, I have to say, it won me over very quickly. Tone is very similar to BB and the performances and writing and great.
