After the success of Breaking Bad, Watch With Mumsnet is back with Better Call Saul, a brand new Original series from Netflix.

In this dark comedic prequel to the Emmy-winning Breaking Bad, we meet ambitious small-time lawyer Jimmy McGill six years before he becomes Walter White’s morally challenged attorney, Saul Goodman. We follow as Jimmy (played by Bob Odenkirk) transforms from an optimistic underdog struggling to make ends meet into the notorious legal legend who puts the criminal in 'criminal lawyer'.

With one episode being released on Netflix each week we’d like you to visit the thread at different points throughout the season and let us know your thoughts on what’s going on. We’ll be updating the thread with new topics of discussion surrounding each week’s episode. Episodes will be release every Tuesday only on Netflix. Everyone who joins the discussion will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will win a Toshiba 40” Full HD Freeview HD Smart LED TV* and 6 month Netflix subscription, a further 5 Mumsnetters will win a Better Call Saul goodybag.

Note on spoilers: We want to hear your thoughts on everything, from plot twists to season finales and more - but if you’re talking anything that could reveal important plot details then please put Spoiler at the beginning of your post to warn others who may not have seen it.

Happy watching,
MNHQ

I'm glad they're releasing it the traditional way. I intended to watch one episode of the new House of Cards season a night, but instead I binge watched all of it over the weekend! I would have done the same thing with BCS if I'd had the chance.

neekeem · 02/03/2015 11:58

I watched all of BB in about 3 weeks in a marathon binge session where it was like there was no outside world, so I was really excited for BCS.

I'm finding it a bit hard to get into, but I like seeing Mike. I'm not a big fan of the crazy brother, to be honest... But I'll definitely keep watching!

Roseformeplease · 02/03/2015 21:01

Love this, and haven't even watched BB (want to now). I found it slow at first but had waited so I could do a couple of episodes at a time. Love Saul and found it intelligent, compelling TV.

More, more, more please!

Am loving this and look forward to Tuesday night viewing, then discussing it with a colleague at work on Wednesday mornings.

At first I was frustrated with the traditional release of 1 a week but seeing how DP and I have shown so little willpower in the face of House of Cards this weekend, its probably for the best...

Nouseforausername · 02/03/2015 22:17

3 episodes in, quite enjoying finding more out about saul and seeing characters from bb popping up Grin

MsRyanGosling · 03/03/2015 10:45

The toilet invention Grin

mumsbe · 04/03/2015 10:53

Just watched episode 4 not very much happened nothing funny and then a good ending making me want to watch next week.

ChoochiWhoo · 04/03/2015 11:00

I agree mumsbe the visits with the crazy man who made his own money and the sexual toilet !Grin Grin was great, when i saw him in the nursing home I thought oh he meets Hector!!!Smile ....but no...Confused

aluvss · 04/03/2015 13:31

Im quite enjoying it, thought it wouldn't be that great after the first episode but it's getting better.

CA551E · 04/03/2015 15:34

Netflix make such awesome series! BB was addictive and I'm sure Call Saul will be equally compelling viewing.

Moogdroog · 04/03/2015 18:07

I've watched 3 episodes so far... Doesn't seem to have 'it' though in my opinion. Can't wait for him to become Saul, though was very glad to see Tuco again. Really hope it improves - such a great character in Breaking Bad. Will give it a few more episodes before I chuck it in though. I want it to be great!

ChoochiWhoo · 05/03/2015 05:23

I think mike will need sauls assistance after being arrested

JoanCallamezzo · 05/03/2015 11:29

I'm quite enjoying it but feel like I'm still waiting for the plot to start. Although I love Saul/Jimmy I just can't get into this as much as I loved Breaking Bad.

I'm also not enjoying having only one episode a week!

mrsbunnyw · 05/03/2015 12:13

I just watched the latest epispode (I think around the 4th; the one where Chuck is in hospital?). I was a bit disappointed - it felt like a 'filler' episode where nothing relevant to the plot really happened. I am hoping I will be proved wrong though as I've enjoyed the other episodes so far.

CoolCadbury · 05/03/2015 12:30

I really enjoyed this week's episode - with the dodgy bank notes and the suggestive toilet. It was laugh out loud funny. Grin

It was strange how it suddenly switched to Mike's story, in the last 5 or so minutes. I wonder if next week is primarily going to be about Mike?

I am, on the whole, finding it slightly on the slow side - I feel it needs to pick up pace a little. However, it's keeping me interested enough to carry on watching it.

My guess is that the girl in the car is Mike's (at the time estranged) daughter, and the police are there to arrest him for breaking some kind of restraining order. I'm probably wrong!

I would like a real story to get going now though, and a sense of danger. Maybe Nacho will come back? The second episode in the desert is the best one so far.

CalifornianMum · 05/03/2015 20:55

My husband and I are really enjoying watching it. It's so interesting watching the transformation into Saul.

So where is Watford Gap ?

It is near Watford - the Northants village. Here's the wiki.

Confused I have no idea how I ended up posting on a random thread which I've never been on before. Normal service will be resumed....

danmoore00 · 06/03/2015 11:02

Loving Better Call Saul - reminiscing on Breaking Bad - love how cleverly the characters such as Nacho & Mike have been littered through-out the new show - brilliant writing! I am just waiting for a glimpse from Jesse or Walter maybe????? Please!

Albuquerque is depicted as a grimmer place than in BB - just love how Saul brings it to life. Loving the Saul v's Hamlin (the new baddie) episode with the bill-board cannot wait for the next episode Netflix - bring me more!

aristocat · 06/03/2015 14:12

I must say that I am not impressed at the moment. The first episode was so slow and I cannot wait for him to become Saul :)
I will carry on watching as I want it to be a good show, great to see mike again!

rachel19784 · 06/03/2015 16:55

Loving it, so pleased this programme has come to our TV. Was so sad when breaking bad finished so very pleased I can find out the story before breaking bad

mummyhaggan91 · 06/03/2015 18:09

Better Call Saul was a bit of a disappointment and am unsure if i would continue watching.

Catty212 · 06/03/2015 19:55

I loved Breaking Bad but I've struggled to get into BCS, though I did think at the start of EP. 1 it was Walter.
