After the success of Breaking Bad, Watch With Mumsnet is back with Better Call Saul, a brand new Original series from Netflix.

In this dark comedic prequel to the Emmy-winning Breaking Bad, we meet ambitious small-time lawyer Jimmy McGill six years before he becomes Walter White’s morally challenged attorney, Saul Goodman. We follow as Jimmy (played by Bob Odenkirk) transforms from an optimistic underdog struggling to make ends meet into the notorious legal legend who puts the criminal in 'criminal lawyer'.

With one episode being released on Netflix each week we’d like you to visit the thread at different points throughout the season and let us know your thoughts on what’s going on. We’ll be updating the thread with new topics of discussion surrounding each week’s episode. Episodes will be release every Tuesday only on Netflix. Everyone who joins the discussion will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will win a Toshiba 40” Full HD Freeview HD Smart LED TV* and 6 month Netflix subscription, a further 5 Mumsnetters will win a Better Call Saul goodybag.

Note on spoilers: We want to hear your thoughts on everything, from plot twists to season finales and more - but if you’re talking anything that could reveal important plot details then please put Spoiler at the beginning of your post to warn others who may not have seen it.

Happy watching,
MNHQ

I loved the black and white introduction 'Present day Saul', it was a reminder of what was to come for Saul in the end. The first episode was very good and it was great to see Mike who was my favourite character from Breaking Bad. I loved that all of the camera angles and general style of the scenes were very similar to BB but it still felt like its own show which was really good as I was worried it would be a novelty before I watched.

I loved it, very glad it was made and will be watching the next episode soon! :)

I remember a series called Murder One with Stanley Tucci, that was one of the best crime thrillers ever, real cliffhanger moments with every episode and I didn't work out whodunnit at all!

VickyRsuperstar · 23/02/2015 07:35

I am hooked already! I thought it started off a little bit slowly, but it was worth being patient and now I'm just finding it really hard waiting for another episode to come out each week! So far it looks like another classic series and I'm really enjoying it.

superkittycat · 23/02/2015 08:27

I really really want to watch this!! I think I'm going to have to sort out a Netflix subscription!

rjsmum11 · 23/02/2015 09:44

I had to take a breather for a while after the intense ending of BB... we were in shock!!

But now we're back at it, and we

I was so excited to for 'Better Call Saul' to be released as a huge fan of Breaking Bad, I found the first episode a bit slow and unsure how it was going but loved to see some old characters coming back into it over further espisodes and learning how Saul turned out to be the way he is. I think what I love about saul is how cheesey he is and that is basically a good guy who found a off kilter way of being successful and he is/was good at what he does. Interested to see how it will pan out with the scenes from present day as feel a bit sorry for him at the moment, going to watch the 3rd episode today :)

maxxximus · 23/02/2015 12:58

Watched first 3 episodes. Nice to see an old friend from BB return - 'tight, tight, tight'. Good to see Jimmy/Saul fleshed out a little.

brookson · 23/02/2015 14:12

Couldn't really get in to it not really my type of program, but can see why others would enjoy it.

AbsInTheClub · 23/02/2015 14:14

Didn't grip me straight off like Breaking Bad, but I am sure it will pick up.

He's no Alicia Florrick, is he! Grin

nanoobaku · 23/02/2015 15:41

not sure what is going on found the first episode confusing hopefully things
will pick up and become must see tv

Ritakd · 23/02/2015 15:47

As always NetFlix has hooked us again. We're just about over our deep mourning from finishing Breaking Bad so this is perfect for us.

FrenchieMum2Be · 23/02/2015 16:19

I haven't got Netflix anymore, need to reactivate my subscription to watch this. I loved Breaking bad and cannot wait to find out how Juimmy became Saul.

eve394 · 23/02/2015 20:28

Not a bad series! Thanks Netflix!

pinklady123456 · 23/02/2015 21:12

I'm enjoying this a lot but think you probably do have to have watched Breaking Bad to get the most out of it. I'm not used to having to only watch one episode a week though, can't decide whether to save them all up and binge or watch each Tuesday before one of my friends decides to spoil it for me!

xlovekillsx · 23/02/2015 21:14

I'm just finishing watching Breaking Bad but can't wait to start watching this when I'm finished! I think it's great to watch it at the same time as the USA.

Theimpossiblegirl · 23/02/2015 22:29

I gave up on Breaking Bad but after reading the comments will give it another go so I can fully appreciate Better Call Saul.

hannahlw85 · 23/02/2015 22:54

I haven't watched the start of this, nor did I see Breaking Bad, but I sooo want to. My brother still talks about how great it was now, plus he said there are elements of Walter that reminded him of our dad so I really want to see what he's on about.

ktandspen · 23/02/2015 23:04

I didn't like it.. sorry!

beehummingbird · 23/02/2015 23:33

I havent used netflix yet, but I would like to try it.

Bumbiscuits · 24/02/2015 23:07

Get netflix Bee, they do a free trial offer for the first month. We've had it for a year or so and love it. The kids enjoy it and we've got into a few of the box sets.

Today's BCS was excellent. Saul's set ups are very entertaining. Great that he wasn't fooling anyone who knew him.

FannyFifer · 24/02/2015 23:12

Brilliant episode tonight.

GatoradeMeBitch · 25/02/2015 00:56

I agree, excellent episode tonight! This show is as solidly awesome as BB was.

ChoochiWoo · 25/02/2015 11:45

I wonder why saul felt he needed to hide the paper from chuck, im excited for next week, also a bit nervous about nachos revenge.

GatoradeMeBitch · 25/02/2015 14:45

I think it's because SPOILER he knew that Chuck would see right through him and know that Jimmy set the 'heroic rescue' up, and that he didn't get the new clients on his own merit!

ChoochiWoo · 25/02/2015 16:32

so the worker ?...was it not an accident?
