The team at Specsavers would love to know what you think about glasses frames these days - there are hundred's to choose from - but do you always go for the same type of frame? Or do you have more than one on the go to co-ordinate with your clothes? What about your DP/DH if they wear specs - do you help to choose them, do they like a particular style? How long do you tend to keep your frames? And do you take advantage of 2for1 offers to get something a bit different? How do you pick the frame which suits you best?

Specsavers say "Whatever your style, we can help you find frames that suit you best. Our collection of women's glasses includes a range of styles from classic chic to bold and contemporary. With stylish frames starting from just £25 a pair and designer frames priced from £99 to £149, there’s something to suit all tastes and pockets. All glasses come with PENTAX single vision lenses and a scratch-resistant treatment".

"Vibrant purples, reds, pinks and rich tortoiseshells are emerging trends in eyewear. We have a gorgeous collection of ladies glasses to help you add a pop of colour to your wardrobe. Our women’s glasses are made in a range of materials, including plastic, metal, stainless steel and titanium. If you have a preference for what your frames are made of, search by materials to find the perfect pair".

Share your thoughts and everyone who does will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £250 voucher from here

Please note Specsavers may use your comments - anon of course - on their pages on MN, on their social media or possibly elsewhere - please only post if you're happy with this.

Thanks and good luck

My hubby has real trouble trying to get glasses as he need safety versions for his job, normal glasses don't last long as he tends to break them. I wish more stores did the safety ones

sophie150 · 09/02/2015 14:13

I also have the problem like lots on this thread that I have a small head/ face and have to have teen glasses or choose from the 2/3 adult pairs that do fit. This is so frustrating. It means I only change my glasses only 4 years or so because I just don't gave the range of options others do. Where I have used 241 deals it has been to get prescription sunglasses. I love the fact you can now get prescription sunglasses with proper dark lenses and in fashionable frames!

Candyperfumegirl · 09/02/2015 14:28

i want something that looks cool & trendy, bogof is always good!!

alison991 · 09/02/2015 17:49

I have one frame and always find it difficult to find ones that suit my face. I don;t like big giant frames. It would be good to have more guidance when choosing

javentura · 09/02/2015 18:38

I always got good value for money at Specsavers, but then went to another optician that was treating my wife and kids. Big mistake. They did eye scans without informing me in advance that they were charging £60 for the scan. What a rip off when its included in the specsaver service. Should have gone to Specsavers.

tab1967 · 09/02/2015 18:53

I choose my glasses based on comfort, I find so many just don't fit well enough to be comfortable. I have a lovely pink pair at the moment that happily fit very well.

piggypoo · 09/02/2015 19:36

I have recently had some reading glasses prescribed from Specsavers, as my prescription had deteriorated, I wanted to avoid having "ant-burner" style lenses, so opted to have a separate pair or "readers" and "lookers", as the varifocal and bi-focal lenses on offer were really thick, and very unflattering! So thinner lenses that don't look "get me bullies" would be very welcome! ;)

ikkle87 · 09/02/2015 19:53

I always tend to go for a simple rectangular frame on the lower end I only wear them in the house so it's not too much of a problem.

My partner like to get one pair normal glasses one pair sunglasses for when he is driving.

jennie1984j · 09/02/2015 19:54

I take advantage of the 241 offer by buying a pair for evening and a daytime pair for work

Bobbylolly570 · 09/02/2015 20:18

I always end up going for the same style, would like to think I was brave enough to try one of the bold designs, but when looking at cost, it's a gamble to try something when I'm not sure.

sarah3875 · 09/02/2015 20:46

I have worn specs ever since I can remember and they have definitely improved style wise. I always go for the same sort really and can't say I've been very impressed with the quality of this latest pair but I am happy that they look good. Plus its a excuse to buy another pair soon!
My 7 year old also had to wear them for a short while and he loved all the characters to choose from. He doesn't need them now and was pretty disappointed.

BonzoDooDah · 09/02/2015 20:47

I've been quite unhappy with all the selections in the shops the last few times I've bought glasses. The trend for really small frames with squarish lenses meant that was all I could find. Didn't suit me and not enough glass to look through. This is my vision! I'd like to have more than tunnel vision through thick frames.

I buy two pairs in the 2 for 1 and try to buy two different pairs so I can change my look. Last time though I couldn't find many I liked so was a Hobson's Choice situation.

Will go and get some new ones soon as it appears the fashion has changed to large lenses again so I will be "allowed" to buy those.

I don't mean to sound miserable but I do find it upsetting to not be able to find a style that isn't "the latest trend". Some of us just don't suit it or want it.

I usually pick the style that suits my face shape and colouring. I either wear my contact lenses to choose or use the photo-booth thingie so I can compare styles.

omgitslani · 09/02/2015 20:59

I do think they have a great range to suit all wallets. I have never failed to find the style that I want.I know that specialist lens can sometimes run the prices up. I am not sure the staff can always give the best advise about what shape suits which face shape as I have been told different things on separate visits but I appreciate the help that they try to give and at the end of the day, I can usually use the mirror to make a judgement!

janemphoto · 09/02/2015 21:10

I buy frames once in a while, what I feel suits me at the time. Although due to the shape of my face I tend to go for one particular style.

brightongirl40 · 09/02/2015 21:46

I think that frames you feel good in, but can generally forget are important. I'd put comfort above appearance and think that having good advice from experts like Specsavers is very important, as don't always know what suits me. Also, advice on what style of frame works best with your prescription lens helps - my prescription is getting stronger and I was given quite poor advice (from a supermarket optician) about frames that looked nice, but really didn't work with my lenses.
You can't beat talking to experts when it comes to glasses!

funkyfreks · 09/02/2015 21:53

I love a good choice, you have to have as many different options of glasses as you do dresses or shoes.

grannybiker · 09/02/2015 22:16

I find it really difficult to choose when I can't see clearly - the ultimate irony!

TiggersAngel7774 · 09/02/2015 22:54

i like 2 for 1 offers for 2 different looks. Usually go for same style but like to be brave and try others in shop but never feel they suti

Nix143 · 09/02/2015 22:55

I broke tradition when I bought my last glasses 6 months ago from Specsavers - bigger red frames! I didn't realise I was going to be 'on trend' :). I've always get great service from Specsavers and the staff were great when I was unsure about such a change in style

LovelyBranches · 09/02/2015 23:11

I haven't changed my glasses for years! I am now desperately in need of a new pair because my prescription has deteriated a lot and my contact lenses and glasses could be for two different people.

I went into Specsavers today for the first time in nearly a decade and was really surprised with what I saw. There was a great selection, different price ranges and lots of mirrors in a light, bright shop. I was asked if I needed help but not pestered and I picked out two completely different pairs, one a full frame with pretty gold arms, the other a semi rimless pair which looked delicate and professional for work.

I liked the range of styles and really liked the Karl Lagerfeld range, although some were too ot for me, it was good to try them on and see if they could suit me.

So overall, what I want from an opticians is a friendly service, fast, friendly and helpful service with a good selection of clearly and reasonably priced glasses.

What I want from glasses - something that adds to me style instead of compromising it, thin glass which doesn't made me feel like I'm wearing the bottom of a milk bottle and nice colours that complement my clothes.

beehummingbird · 10/02/2015 02:10

I always get semi-rimless frames, because they are more comfortable and the frames are easier to ignore.

FUZZ62 · 10/02/2015 07:08

my DS has the black small block frames, i really like him in them as the childrens frames are very poor design wise, but the ones aimed at the slightly older (he has had them since being 3) suite and are what he and i like.

superkittycat · 10/02/2015 07:40

I find it difficult to find frames that suit me - I must have quite a small head because most of the adult frames just look too big for my face! I try on loads of pairs each time - most of the store in fact(!) but only ever find one or two frames that look nice, though I'm always pleased with the ones I do get, even if they all tend to be the same style - I guess that's just what suits me! I will ALWAYS take advantage of an offer if one's available!

roar349 · 10/02/2015 08:50

I tend to always go for the same style as it suits me, I'll go for something slightly different in the 2for1's and keep the second pair in my bag in case I need them (usually if the kids decide to grab/bend my day to day specs)

Jennyba · 10/02/2015 09:35

I love my framed glasses especially the big rimmed glasses that are in fashion at the moment. I tend to go for the darker colours like blacks, browns or dark blues as I after wearing glasses for years I know what suits my face (apart from a bad year in my teens where I had bright metallic green frames!!). I do like the idea of the rimless ones but they do not suit me. I tend to take advantage of the buy one get one free offers and have myself some sunglasses too.
