The team at Specsavers would love to know what you think about glasses frames these days - there are hundred's to choose from - but do you always go for the same type of frame? Or do you have more than one on the go to co-ordinate with your clothes? What about your DP/DH if they wear specs - do you help to choose them, do they like a particular style? How long do you tend to keep your frames? And do you take advantage of 2for1 offers to get something a bit different? How do you pick the frame which suits you best?

Specsavers say "Whatever your style, we can help you find frames that suit you best. Our collection of women's glasses includes a range of styles from classic chic to bold and contemporary. With stylish frames starting from just £25 a pair and designer frames priced from £99 to £149, there’s something to suit all tastes and pockets. All glasses come with PENTAX single vision lenses and a scratch-resistant treatment".

"Vibrant purples, reds, pinks and rich tortoiseshells are emerging trends in eyewear. We have a gorgeous collection of ladies glasses to help you add a pop of colour to your wardrobe. Our women’s glasses are made in a range of materials, including plastic, metal, stainless steel and titanium. If you have a preference for what your frames are made of, search by materials to find the perfect pair".

Share your thoughts and everyone who does will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £250 voucher from here

Please note Specsavers may use your comments - anon of course - on their pages on MN, on their social media or possibly elsewhere - please only post if you're happy with this.

Thanks and good luck

I am one of those people that never really suit glasses so I tend to play it safe with the styles I choose. They are an expensive item too so I want something I will be happy with for a few years!
2 for 1 offers are great for getting a spare set, although for years I always felt obliged to get prescription sunglasses- I hate prescription sunglasses! They look awful!

SweetValentine · 06/02/2015 23:01

I bought myself a lovely ppair of cheap glasses a couple of years ago, relatively thick squared type ones. I've tried to get subtle gold rimmed ones but my brain says if I'm going to wear them i may as well not try and hide them!

I feel more comfortable in a pair of obvious glasses

MrsRolandRat · 07/02/2015 01:26

I always go for expensive designer glasses, I have 2 pairs and take advantage of the buy one get a second pair for x amount. I pay £250 per pair as I wear them daily and I like them to look good.

I wear black thick framed type glasses, with having blonde hair these suit me the best.

CatsInCustard · 07/02/2015 18:05

I seem to have a very small head so often get offered child size frames which can be a bit hit and miss about if they look silly or not. I am fond of bright coloured frames with previous ones including bright blue. Being able to try them on in a quiet space with another person's opinion is helpful especially as I take a long time to decide.

krnries · 07/02/2015 20:29

I've only had my first prescription glasses for about a year, so I'm not really experienced. I chose deep red rectangular frames, which is exactly what I fancied before I found them. I think they suit me fine. I don't know why I though these would work and I don't have much red clothing!

ataraxia · 08/02/2015 12:25

I try on different styles each time. I'd like more choice in colours (my favourite is teal) but typically go with brown/tortoise shell as black can be a bit harsh with my skintown.

I always twst out what they're like resting on my head as I do that a lot. If the noseclip is scratchy then it's a no from me!

julker · 08/02/2015 12:59

The trouble with the 2 for 1 type offers is that it ends up costing me a fortune to get the lens slimmed down (they are huge and varied so looks stupid otherwise ) and the coating on that turns them into sunglasses (I have been told I have to have this because of trouble with my eyes)

kpdchudleigh · 08/02/2015 16:07

I have a high prescription so the 2 for 1 offers are of no use to me as the cost is all in my lenses. For the same reason I need to make my specs last a few years and I have to choose carefully a frame for day, evening, smart and casual which is so difficult. I avoid branding which is too prominent and try to choose something neutral and classic but also stylish and flattering.

Having said all that, it's little wonder I don't buy new glasses very often! It's so difficult!

FrenchieMum2Be · 08/02/2015 17:00

I wear glasses and I love the choice of styles you get. I've got one 'boring' pair for work and glitzy pair for gouing out, that's great.

Spurtle · 08/02/2015 18:50

DH buys from the 2for1 offer. He always gets one sensible black metal times pair, and one more 'out there' (to him anyway!!) pair. Guess which pair only ever get worn once?

sweir1 · 08/02/2015 20:37

I'm particularly fond of titanium and flexible frames

Gill81uk · 08/02/2015 20:55

My husband has had his glasses for about 7 years now! I helped him choose them and they really suit him. He would like another pair but his eye sight hasn't changed and they're in great nick so it seems a bit pointless. It would be handy to have a spare pair though incase the kids break them, so must look at sorting it soon. It's hard to find the time to go into the shop and try them on when we're together though.

pinklady123456 · 08/02/2015 21:07

I would love to have several pairs of glasses but their prohibitively high cost means I stick with the same pair for a couple of years or until I sit on them! I tend to go for classic frames which will go with most outfits.

buckley1983 · 08/02/2015 21:34

I love the 1950s cats eye style frames - dark colours or just plain black. On my other half I like rectangular thicker black frames - geek specs all the way! Glasses make the look for me, I can't get enough of them :) x

Bestoftimesworstoftimes · 08/02/2015 23:03

No particular style here as choosing frames is individual to the pair and the person as ideally they should 'blend into the face'. Doesn't mean that rimless is de rigeur for the whole glasses wearing population but that they should flatter the shape and colouring of the person face on which they sit (nose, eyes, cheekbones, overall face shape, skin-tone). If the perfect match is fashionable too that is simply a bonus!

callkiki · 08/02/2015 23:57

I tend to wait for a good 2 for one offer and I try to look for something different but usually the frames seem too wild to wear and I end up with a similar style. I usually get new glasses once per year.

Rigbyroo · 09/02/2015 00:06

I am terrible for keeping the same frames (and lenses) for far too long. I would love to update my look but my lenses are so expensive. Having said that, I'm really impressed with specsavers range of frames and value for money, it's made me determined to get my eyes tested and change my glasses which are now far too big for my face after two children have pulled at them! I tend to stick to a similar style of frame but would be interested to try something new.

jamielmdjs · 09/02/2015 00:43

I'm a bit out of touch with the 'in' styles these days. I see the trend for geek sheek, thicker frames but i'm still in the mindset that subtle/invisible frame, metal is best.

Choosing for myself, it's the trusted, reliable style for me.

libra101 · 09/02/2015 06:36

My husband and I have just had our regular check ups at Supersavers. My husband, who has Diabetes Type 1, needs annual check ups and I go bi-annually.

Luckily he didn't need a new prescription this year, but I needed a new pair of specs.

Supersavers have such a wonderful choice of frames and lenses, varying in price from a few pounds to designer prices. I usually opt for mid range; my last specs were from the Gok Wan range and were very comfortable and easy to wear.

I choose varifocal lenses and mid size frames - not too large and overpowering, nor too small to be useful.

The assistants are patient and helpful when choosing and fitting new frames. The whole process is a real pleasure.

cathyov · 09/02/2015 09:59

I only wear reading glasses so I try to pick something discrete metal pair. Over the years my daughters have had various glasses and are generally happy with their frames (ok they would prefer designer ones but not in my price range!)

Laineyflo · 09/02/2015 10:23

I love choosing new glasses, there's so much choice around these days. I've got a lovely pair of tortoiseshell 'fashionable' glasses and I love wearing them..I wear them more than my contact lenses which I never thought would happen! I love taking advantage of offers, 2 for 1 are always appealing.

glmcall123 · 09/02/2015 10:34

I love the huge range of styles and colours available now. I've always found it really useful to try different frames on to find some that suit me. My dd always has trouble choosing frames because her eyes are so bad, she has to rely on the opinion of others.

maria08k · 09/02/2015 12:39

I have a very narrow face so find that most frames swamp my face, the only style i tend to stick to due to this fact is the slightly rounded square slim frames with a plastic edging.

I just wish they came in more colours than the usual black, tortoiseshell colour.

Ethan260908 · 09/02/2015 13:32

The frame range nowadays is almost too much, hence you never hear anyone getting called four eyes or other nasty names, online stores also add to the options which I find bizarre as specs like clothes need to be tired on, however thankfully we are all not the same. I went trhough a faze of the Germanic square type ones for the last ten years or so, but more recently I have opted for the sportier type which make my face less business like. I always try to get glasses and prescription sunglasses on offer if I need new ones and get my eyes tested every year due to health issues. So long as it is just you I am telling this I have worn some absolute shocking specs in the past, when I see pictures I cringe...but hey like passport photo's they are good for a laugh.

paulaburnside114 · 09/02/2015 13:50

I always stick to the same style. A fairly small metal frame with quite thin arms. I love the look of the thicker plastic frames but when I try them on they just never seem to suit me.
Maybe I need to be a bit bolder and give them a try.
