The team at Specsavers would love to know what you think about glasses frames these days - there are hundred's to choose from - but do you always go for the same type of frame? Or do you have more than one on the go to co-ordinate with your clothes? What about your DP/DH if they wear specs - do you help to choose them, do they like a particular style? How long do you tend to keep your frames? And do you take advantage of 2for1 offers to get something a bit different? How do you pick the frame which suits you best?

Specsavers say "Whatever your style, we can help you find frames that suit you best. Our collection of women's glasses includes a range of styles from classic chic to bold and contemporary. With stylish frames starting from just £25 a pair and designer frames priced from £99 to £149, there’s something to suit all tastes and pockets. All glasses come with PENTAX single vision lenses and a scratch-resistant treatment".

"Vibrant purples, reds, pinks and rich tortoiseshells are emerging trends in eyewear. We have a gorgeous collection of ladies glasses to help you add a pop of colour to your wardrobe. Our women’s glasses are made in a range of materials, including plastic, metal, stainless steel and titanium. If you have a preference for what your frames are made of, search by materials to find the perfect pair".

Share your thoughts and everyone who does will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £250 voucher from here

Please note Specsavers may use your comments - anon of course - on their pages on MN, on their social media or possibly elsewhere - please only post if you're happy with this.

Thanks and good luck

My skin is allergic to metal frames so I always go for plastic ones. Thankfully there are lots of stylish plastic frames available. I like to have a coloured pair and a neutral pair for when I am wearing an outfit that doesn't match the coloured pair which is why I like the 2 for 1 deals! At the moment I have a red and a dark grey pair of specs which I am very happy with.

For the past few years I have chosen small frames as I think they suit me better than larger ones. My prescription hasn't changed for a while so I haven't changed my frames recently. It always takes me such a long time to decide about frames so I'm quite pleased about this!

Don't wear glasses

ethelb · 03/02/2015 13:35

I generally have one pair at a time but abuse them so the stems get loose. I agree with Thurlow though that there need to be better frames for people with smaller faces. I am starting to go online to get smaller frames that are suitable for my face.

I am looking for wedding glasses at the moment which is essential for my -6.5 sight

HALA · 03/02/2015 13:41

I find it frustrating that when you have not long bought some new frames in a narrow rectangular size, the fashion has now changed to large frames again, which means another big expense to get new frames again !!

Minnibix · 03/02/2015 21:03

There are so many different types of frames now that it is difficult to choose just one set, they really are a fantastic fashion accessory.

BoBoo · 04/02/2015 10:11

I would wait for a 2 for 1 offer, but based my my last experience I would just get two pairs the same as I always defer to the pair I think look better and end up not wearing the second pair.

I struggle to find frames I like despite the seemingly huge range of choice, all seem a little big or the wrong shape. I tried ordering online, and while the service was great I found it too slow to only be able to try on four pairs at at time and wait for delivery when I can try on about 30 pairs in ten minutes in a shop.

juju3 · 04/02/2015 15:07

I think lightweight titanium is the practical day to day choice

whitbyranger · 04/02/2015 16:12

I really enjoy the 2 for 1 frames as I always have a 'normal' pair and a sunglasses pair made up. I have had good use out of the cheaper ranges, but I am going to try something a bit more stylish next time as I have been sent a money off voucher. I always choose the frames for my husband. Where would he be without me?

JWalker23 · 04/02/2015 21:16

I feel there are too many frames,

and then, to me, many look the same!

I want glasses as they are pretty cool and fashionable ATM but don't feel any would suit me which is a shame

SaphireSaf · 04/02/2015 22:01

If I had a choice, I would buy the whole lot. Sometimes I'm there for an hour just trying to pick between 2 or 3 particular ones that have caught my eye. I always go for comfort then style though, but make sure I have one that satisfies both.

sadiewoohoo · 04/02/2015 22:43

I have a standard pair for work that are my run of the mill pair but I have a daintier pair for going out. |Id like to match them etc but I simply cant afford to!

sofieellis · 05/02/2015 10:19

I've never really had any problems with frames, as I think there is a huge choice in Specsavers and I try to take advantage of the 2 in 1 offer when possible. My problems tend to be more about the prescription itself. Twice, I have had prescriptions which are way too strong for me and give me headache and eyestrain when trying to use my new glasses. Hence, I end up throwing my lovely new frames in a drawer and going back to wearing my old glasses (which aren't quite strong enough, but much better to use than the new ones).

badgermum · 05/02/2015 11:55

I like to change my glasses every couple of years as my tastes change and I choose frames that I think suit me at the time

funkyfish586 · 05/02/2015 19:31

I have a really wide face & I find that no glasses suit me. I like frames that are thin, metal & feminine.

gemima27 · 05/02/2015 19:53

i currently have 2 pairs from a 2 for 1 offer, love being able to change day to day

lottietiger · 05/02/2015 21:42

I have a narrow head so have to go for teens glasses and they have a very poor range. I also need a lightweight pair for sport and a more fashionable pair for the office. None of these options seem to go together.
I pay for the thinner glass and wish that came as standard as a lot of people seem to need it.
Trying on glasses is a pain as I can't see without my glasses! So I have to wear a pair of co tact lenses just to see what the frames look like on or rely on the counter staff.

pmcp15 · 06/02/2015 00:38

It has been really expensive for me to get a really modern style of frames. I have extremely bad astigmatism and shortsightedness. The lenses I need are very thick so to get them thinned down to fit fashionable frames costs a fortune, the last pair I got from Specsavers cost me £200 and that was with my employer paying half as I used a computer in my job. I am now a full time carer not entitled to Income Support. Fashionable frames make you feel so so good about yourself. Please make them more affordable.

Disgruntledfromblahblah · 06/02/2015 00:54

I also have thick lenses so have to pay a small fortune for thinner ones, weight is a big issue if you have to wear glasses often and I think more frames should recognise this. I have trouble finding light-weight frames and ones without gigantic logos on the legs - I am not a bill board!

marymouse · 06/02/2015 01:32

I have two pairs, just because I lose them all the time so I wear one frame until I find the other!
I often struggle with the choice, it's too much. Although if the assistant is good they can make it a lot easier by knowing which type of frame will suit your face shape

Moogdroog · 06/02/2015 09:42

I'm afraid to say I do always go for the same sort of frames - the sort of heavy framed plastic types. I find the choices a bit mind boggling and a disaster if I'm in any way time pressured. I did realise the other day though that DH, DS and I do pretty much have the same style glasses Blush

I do like frames with a small splash of colour though, and if I had the cash I'd have a few pairs to vary things a bit. But for the moment, just the one pair will have to do.

mynellie · 06/02/2015 11:55

my glasses cost a fortune as they are bi-focal and i also have to have them tinted as i am photosensitive i try to get fairly small frames but have to take into account the bi-focal so if i find a frame i like i will re-use them wherever possible and always go for the offers of a free pair so then i can get one pair re-lensed whilst wearing the other pair but i find that the cost over all really puts me off getting my eyes checked more often than is essential and also would love to have magnified mirrors at the optician so can get a fairly good idea of what the frames really looks like on me other than taking the sales assistants word for it

I always tend to find choosing frames a challenge. I tend to avoid frames with nose pads as they tend to irritate my sinuses and give me a headache so I go for acrylic frames which is nice at the moment as they're actually quite fashionable but I do wonder what will happen later. They're tricky to find though because I've found that they're quite large on the face so I sometime choose children's frames. I only have one pair because I know where they are then. I find if I have several pairs that I'm forever looking for them!

Ritakd · 06/02/2015 20:41

I usually look for funky lenses in neutral tone but struggle to find them. If they were more readily available I'd probably change them more often. I also go for 2for1 offers

carapace · 06/02/2015 21:04

I am not keen on Specsavers' range, I'm sorry. I find a large proportion look cheapish, which is not good if you wear your glasses all the time. I tend to get my frames from smaller, boutique places and then go to Specsavers for the excellently priced lenses!
