With Christmas almost here, we’d like to you to share how you’ll be using Netflix with your family over the festive season.

Will you put a film on while you are wrapping your presents? Maybe you’ll be using Netflix to help the kids settle down before bed on Christmas Eve - after all the excitement over the arrival of Santa! Or perhaps you’ll choose a family favourite that everyone can watch together after Christmas dinner?

We’d also love to know what devices your family uses to watch Netflix. Do your kids tend to watch the iPad? Perhaps you and DP snuggle in bed watching on your laptop? Or maybe you use your smart TV when everyone is together as family. Whatever it is, we’d love to hear it!

Netflix has a selection of family titles, including hit movies like The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Brave and Monsters Inc, as well as festive films like Mickey’s Twice Upon a Christmas, Scrooged and The Search for Santa Paws.

Everyone who comments below about how they think they will use Netflix over the holidays will be entered into a prize draw where one Mumsnetter will win an iPad mini and a 6 month subscription to Netflix.

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

I will be using it to watch all the old classic Christmas films.

TwoLittleTerrors · 04/12/2014 15:22

I will be handing the tablet over to my 3yo when my newborn is crying, as usual. She loves Netflix and will ask for Netflix instead of tv. The interface is much more intuitive compared to Amazon instant video and Sky go.

snuggling on the sofa with mince pies & a good film on netflix!

maureen3733 · 04/12/2014 16:13

i would watch breaking bad from start to finish

snice · 04/12/2014 17:11

to watch a film together when we all want to watch it, not when its on TV

mindingalongtime · 04/12/2014 17:23

We will be filling up 4 iPads for a long haul flight and catching up after Christmas on all that we missed.

LoveWillTearUsApart · 04/12/2014 17:35

The children have been off school ill for the last two days - Netflix has been a grumble silencer (for all of us, probably) Grin

Over the holidays we tend to watch a lot of Christmassy films to get us in the festive spirit, can I please put a plea for Love, Actually to be on Netflix while I'm here? Ta Xmas Wink

We watch Netflix on our iPads and Smart TVs in lounge.Kids also watch on tv in bedrooms.
Invaluable at Christmas when all the boring repeats are on.

We only have the one tv, - in the living room, so tend to all watch a movie together, often all snuggled up on the sofa, with some treats too.

Also, as dd is autistic, she loves watching her favourite shows back to back, and there is always something that captures her latest interest. It really helps when she gets too excited or stressed.

Could we have a Musicals section please??

Em86 · 04/12/2014 20:05

We'll be watching family films by streaming netflix to the TV with the chromecast.

KenAdams · 04/12/2014 20:47

This is the first year my daughter will really get Christmas, so anything remotely Christmassy will go on through Netflix during the school holidays.

For us, White Collar and Chuck have been our favourites. We love them so much, we rewatch them a lot on Netflix!

Somethingpink · 04/12/2014 20:52

Netflix will be used as our main option to watch tv as a family. ALL Christmas films will be watched and all the usual family films.

My teenager watches Netflix via his Xbox 360 and binge watches series that have been recommended by Netflix or his friends, he loves the ease of use and I can often hear him laughing during his viewing. The parental controls give me peace of mind it's suitable viewing! I mainly watch on the I pad with my other son who is 7, usually in the bath or snuggled up in bed which is a lovely way for us to enjoy our love of the supernatural and Horrible Histories which we can't watch when my younger girls are about! The girls watch on their kindle fires, Max and Ruby and barbie,it's great that it automatically plays the next episode! It's usually on in the kitchen on my iPad too when cooking, I am going to set up the Wii on the upstairs TV to enjoy it on a bigger screen! My friend often tags recommendations on FB as well, it's safe to say we love Netflix in our house!

wendymurray3 · 04/12/2014 21:36

Well to get away from all the Christmas movies might just have to re-watch Jack Bauer in 24. He is my hero :)

MillionToOneChances · 04/12/2014 22:09

We have two Apple TVs and the only thing we use them for is Netflix, mostly movies. I could access it via TiVo but find the interface slow. I'm sure we'll start watching some Christmas movies on it soon.

We have the app on all our iDevices but are too busy multitasking with the internet to actually watch tv on them...

kellyroxannesmith · 04/12/2014 22:24

melmoo · 04/12/2014 23:34

We will be wathcing all of Dexter

Dolallytats · 05/12/2014 06:53

I'm going to use my free trial on Netflix to watch Christmas films while the children are in bed and to keep my DS occupied on Christmas eve so that I can make the mince pies and try and tidy up.

BeyondTheTreelights · 05/12/2014 07:52

We've just moved a tv and the ps3 to the kids bedroom, so they can watch netflix at any time. I keep trying to get them to watch xmassy things, but all they want to watch is various marvel superheroes

wideboy26 · 05/12/2014 08:01

Our children are all grown up. 'The boys' are now 'the men'. Luckily we have them all home this Christmas, quite a coup when they live in 3 different countries. We make an agreement to all sit and watch a film after dinner in the evening, usually a romcom as the girlfriends will also be present and it's the best type to please all tastes. Fortunately there is a wide selection. While we all sit around together we also have drinks and nibbles (and cuddles with our respective partners).

emilybc · 05/12/2014 08:57

Watching episodes of Adventure time with my nieces and nephews - it's a great kid's programme!

deepcmum · 05/12/2014 09:10

watching all the chrismtmas classics with the family

telsa · 05/12/2014 11:55

no, still no Netflix here. I like buying old DVDs from CEX or even better videos form the charity shop. Am I weird?
