With Christmas almost here, we’d like to you to share how you’ll be using Netflix with your family over the festive season.

Will you put a film on while you are wrapping your presents? Maybe you’ll be using Netflix to help the kids settle down before bed on Christmas Eve - after all the excitement over the arrival of Santa! Or perhaps you’ll choose a family favourite that everyone can watch together after Christmas dinner?

We’d also love to know what devices your family uses to watch Netflix. Do your kids tend to watch the iPad? Perhaps you and DP snuggle in bed watching on your laptop? Or maybe you use your smart TV when everyone is together as family. Whatever it is, we’d love to hear it!

Netflix has a selection of family titles, including hit movies like The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Brave and Monsters Inc, as well as festive films like Mickey’s Twice Upon a Christmas, Scrooged and The Search for Santa Paws.

Everyone who comments below about how they think they will use Netflix over the holidays will be entered into a prize draw where one Mumsnetter will win an iPad mini and a 6 month subscription to Netflix.

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

lorilizy · 03/12/2014 17:30

The children love watching the movies, but for me, when they're in bed, I'm watching Orange is the New black, and Breaking Bad - truly great TV

rainbow1983 · 03/12/2014 17:37

I don't have netflix but if i did I would watch disney and xmas films with the kids. I love disney films.... and the kids do of course lol

maggieriordan · 03/12/2014 17:46

I love watching it on my ipad - the old films = oldies but goodies

GoldenMama · 03/12/2014 17:56

We watch via our Wii through the TV in our house. No longer have a normal tv license as only ever use Netflix to watch.

We will be having a Netflix movie night Christmas eve to settle and cuddle before a mad Christmas day!

Merry Christmas! Xx

sleach · 03/12/2014 18:27

watching all the christmas movies

Marg2k8 · 03/12/2014 18:27

I don't have Netflix, so unless I am lucky enough to win your competition, I won't be watching it LOL

DS1 watches Netflix on the ipad or my phone, and we all watch it through the TV (via Chromecast).

TBH, I was considering cancelling it, as I've watched pretty much everything I have any interest in, but DS1 loves Rolie Polie Ollie which I've never seen anywhere else, and he's so familiar with it that I can't face teaching him how to use something else.

Besides DS2 will be of an age soon when he'll start on Pingu, and that'll be that for another couple of years!

I like putting something on as I do things around the house, but if DP is about then I can't (the TV lures his eyes over, his brain turns off, and he doesn't get anything done), and I'll put it on my phone or ipad while I work or potter in the kitchen.

Netflix has changed our family's TV viewing habits completely. We don't watch proper TV these days. As a family we watch Netflix on the TV via the Xbox. The children love Futurama and are working their way through it, I've managed Dexter, Californication, Orange is the New Black, I love House of Cards, there's loads of stuff on there that I would never have seen if it wasn't for Netflix. I don't really bother much with films though.

This weekend we're planning on having a lazy day on Sunday lounging on the sofa watching Christmas films - as we're not feeling festive at all.

I like to watch things on the iPad when I'm in bed - I'm an insomniac so if I have trouble sleeping I often watch a series on Netflix to pass the time.

We love Netflix, it's great to catch up with old favourites and to discover new shows and films that we never even heard off. Definitely will be using it this Christmas.

kaycm25 · 03/12/2014 19:13

brocher · 03/12/2014 19:18

jilliang · 03/12/2014 19:47

We don't have it, so won't be using it anywhere

melvis · 03/12/2014 20:27

I'm home alone at Christmas (well, the dog will be here) so netflix will be my number one company ... I'm planning on lots of 24, Orange is the New Black with a scattering of festive and family movies (I got started yesterday and watching The Christmas Cupid and Just Go With It). x

dragon60 · 03/12/2014 20:54

My son watches Netflix on his ipad, he loves to see whats available and choose something himself, mainly films ... but there is so much choice he is never short of something to watch.

We don't currently use Netflix, though my friends think its really good. I don't like watching TV, but I do like sitting and watching DVDs with DS (7) and DD (5).
I have a basic Virgin package, and there is a Netflix channel, but it seemed clumsy and slow when I went to have a look, so I didn't subscribe.
It would be good to have a range of new films to watch over Xmas. I'm a lone parent so can't easily get to a cinema.
I like the idea that I could watch a film on an iPad mini, whilst the children watch their films through the tv!
