With Christmas almost here, we’d like to you to share how you’ll be using Netflix with your family over the festive season.

Will you put a film on while you are wrapping your presents? Maybe you’ll be using Netflix to help the kids settle down before bed on Christmas Eve - after all the excitement over the arrival of Santa! Or perhaps you’ll choose a family favourite that everyone can watch together after Christmas dinner?

We’d also love to know what devices your family uses to watch Netflix. Do your kids tend to watch the iPad? Perhaps you and DP snuggle in bed watching on your laptop? Or maybe you use your smart TV when everyone is together as family. Whatever it is, we’d love to hear it!

Netflix has a selection of family titles, including hit movies like The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Brave and Monsters Inc, as well as festive films like Mickey’s Twice Upon a Christmas, Scrooged and The Search for Santa Paws.

Everyone who comments below about how they think they will use Netflix over the holidays will be entered into a prize draw where one Mumsnetter will win an iPad mini and a 6 month subscription to Netflix.

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

Well I'm so behind the times....I think it's time I watched Breaking Bad and caught up with the rest of the world!

Ritakd · 07/12/2014 17:11

We'll watch it snuggling down in front of the TV with a few treats of course!

rusmum · 07/12/2014 21:25

I will be waiting with baited breath for season 3 of Grimm. My girls love to watch Netflix on their I pods, so will help with the excitement Xmas eve. X

del2929 · 08/12/2014 10:06

kiddies will be logged in on phones and ipads to make those long journeys more fun! we love watching rugrats and horrid henry

sootyo · 08/12/2014 15:19

We will be sharing time together watching all the old favourites.

surprisearrival · 08/12/2014 16:30

My daughter sometimes watches part of a Disney film before bed, or a cartoon ("little princess" and "max and ruby" are firm favourites atm!) snuggled up in my bed before she gets put to bed in hers. I like to watch something more mummy once she is asleep! Spend hours caught up in series or Netflix suggestions! Love my Netflix subscription and although it's a luxury I wouldn't be without it :-)

Substandard · 08/12/2014 17:08

Rewatching Buffy from the beginning - in the bath with my ipad propped up on the toilet seat. It's my little escape from Christmas madness.

And of course Christmas films on the big TV for when I am no longer avoiding the small people!

Pandabee11 · 08/12/2014 18:13

We watch Netflix on the big TV connected via the wii. We've almost finished watching Lillehammer season 3 and I think we'll watch House of Cards next. It will be interesting to see an American take of that old series.

Oh and lots of Christmas films too. Grin

BooRooandTiggerToo · 08/12/2014 18:45

Having recently subscribed to Netflix (approx 2 months ago) we are windering how we ever lived without it. The ability to set up different accounts for each family member means that the children can operate and put on films etc by themselves is fabulous. This Christmas we intend to make the most of it by catching up on old Christmas TV shows, enjoying some family movies and treating our parents to a subscription too.

themartian · 08/12/2014 19:27

Definitely having family netflix time over Christmas....hot chocolate, cake, mince pies and mulled wine for us and a film! We watch it through our xbox on our big tv, but dh and I will watch on the ipad too, in bed, probably the last season of Breaking Bad. Can't wait to find out what happens to Walt, I hope he gets away with it all

TheWildRumpyPumpus · 08/12/2014 19:37

We use Netflix on the Xbox One, tablet, our smartphones... Too much probably! The DS' have their Netflix kids setup so they can navigate their own way to age appropriate content and watch cartoons or movies mostly.

DH likes catching up on old series of SciFi while I like watching documentaries! I'm sure we will watch a Xmas movie or two as well!

BL0SS0M · 08/12/2014 22:55

will be watching all the christmas classics! great for movie nights!

IWasThere4Aug12 · 08/12/2014 23:46

Family time watching films on the main tv with iPad hooked up DC have a wish list we're working thru

peanutmum111 · 09/12/2014 08:18

I do not have 'Netflix', but I have thought about it. Reading these comments have made me re-think, that we would use it a great deal over Christmas, keeping warm with the hot chocolate.

TheSporkforeatingkyriarchy · 09/12/2014 12:20

We use Netflix (and Crunchyroll and Dvds...) to avoid Christmas adverts and TV most years Grin.

This year we'll most likely finish watching Wakfu...

Twotinygirls · 09/12/2014 12:43

We watch netflix on the tablet. And plus it in to the telly. We watch family films in bed in a Sunday morning and the children watch series like Mia and me and strawberry shortcake together on the tv. My husband and I are also working our way through breaking bad.

Twotinygirls · 09/12/2014 12:45

Also I like knowing that I'm safe to leave the children to choose whatever they want when it's on 'kids'

mrsbunnyw · 09/12/2014 12:53

We almost exclusively watch Metflix on the TV, via the Xbox. We (the adults) will watch films or series when the kids are finally in bed, and will also maybe have an occasional Christmassy film on at teatime as a special treat (we don't normally eat in front of the TV so it counts!)

BumGravy · 09/12/2014 14:27

We save any Christmas films to the instant queue and we go for a long cold walk, when we get home we turn up the heating, get our pajamas on, have a hot chocolate and select a film.
I also use Netflix on my iPad if I am doing boring chores. Watching Suits makes washing many pairs of socks easier!

ha2el · 09/12/2014 14:37

An excuse to snuggle together with my husband on the sofa whilst we watch on the laptop.

Doubtfuldaphne · 09/12/2014 16:04

I love wrapping presents with a festive film on, whilst wearing a christmas jumper and singing caroles. Oh, and while drinking egg nogg. I love the choice that netflix provide, but I'm very partial to getting stuck in to a box set too or re watching all the old louis theroux docs.
The whole family love netflix, my dd loves the barbie stuff, my dh loves the horror films, i love the documentaries, comedies, american box sets and my ds loves the comedies.
Christmas was made for netflix! We can all watch what we want when we want!
I'm really hoping i'm lucky here as my subscription recently ran out and dh cancelled to 'save money'
NOT FAIR! bring me my netflix back!

smittenkitten666 · 09/12/2014 16:41

We'll all be watching together, cuddled up in front of the fire with treats.
Childrens' specials in the afternoon for the little ones, hopefully a Christmas animated film, or a family 'feelgood' movie - then catching up with Breaking Bad for the adults in the evening.
One of my happiest Christmas memories was watching The Snowman with my daughter, with all of us singing 'Walking In The Air' to her... bliss!

chewbecca47 · 09/12/2014 16:43

We watch Netflix on our Smart TV and phones. Looking forward to some festive films from Netflix to have on in the background throughout Christmas, plus a good sit down each night to watch a family movie. It's what Christmas is all about!

BeyondTheTreelights · 09/12/2014 16:47

I am mumsnetting on my ipad, while ds1 watches netflix on the tv and ds2 watches something else on netflix on my old ipad. DH is cooking Grin

Ultimate lazy parenting Wink

oolaroola · 09/12/2014 17:09

Netflix on the laptop here.
Hoping to get the Ds's into some wildlife docs soon. But we will undoubtedly be watching some movies and programs like ninjago and the like.
Dh and I use it all the time for box sets and would like more please, it's our new favourite hobby.
Wish the film library was bigger though. Often fancy watching a title that netflix doesn't have...
