To celebrate the launch of the new Vodafone family price plan (Red+) and that this Christmas you can also enjoy a 3 month NOW TV Sky Movies with Red 4G Vodafone want to know what your fail safe film is for travelling with children!

Vodafone say "We all know those long journeys with children, especially at christmas time when they are even more excited, can feel a bit endless. These days, technology makes this a bit easier! With a 3 month NOW TV Sky Movies Pass from Vodafone, you can select a film to help pass the time for children".

Vodafone has also launched a new plan, designed specifically for families. Red+ gives you one data allowance to share and you can even cap your kids’ data so they don't go over their limit. You'll get one simple bill for all devices, saving you money compared to individual plans, and you'll also get unlimited calls and texts.

The Vodafone Digital Parenting Guide can be found here: www.vodafone.co.uk/family

So whether your children climb over seats to catch yet another screening of Frozen, or have a secret sob to Toy Story 3, please share the film you can be quietly confident will give you some peace on the journey and keep the kids occupied.

Add your comment to this thread and you’ll be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £250 Hamleys voucher (can be used online and in the stores)

Please note your comments may be used by Vodafone or MN on Vodafone pages, social media or possibly elsewhere - please only add a comment if you're happy for it to be used.

Thanks and good luck

But I've bought the 'Robbie the Reindeer' trilogy (the claymation with Ardal O'Hanlon) for Xmas eve this year so am hoping the DCs love it as much as I do! :o

telsa · 11/11/2014 17:16

films while travelling? Nah, not done that. What happened to talking.....

marymouse · 11/11/2014 17:16

home alone, both kids love it and laugh all the way through

Maddaddam · 11/11/2014 18:15

We've only had dvds in the car in the last year, since 13yo got a portable dvd player. So she chooses the dvds. Something like Divergent, Hunger games or other teen dystopias.

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 11/11/2014 18:55

My DC are bizarre in that a) they don't need distracting on long car journeys - they just look out of the window while we listen to music and b) they've never done the obsessive re-watching of favourite animated movies thing.

But if we were on a long train or plane journey with tablets/DVD players then DD (12) loves the Hunger Games films, and DS (10) likes pretty much any sciencey/technology/natural history documentary, especially Mythbusters, Strip The City, The Future Is Wild and the complete works of David Attenborough.

SaltySeaBird · 11/11/2014 19:46

An ipad pre-loaded with DD's favourite television shows, strapped to the headrest in front has been our saviour on long car trips. We don't resort to it often but when we do it works wonders.

Another family that doesn't watch movies on the move, except when flying long haul.

But favourite movies over Xmas would be - Elf, Home Alone, any Muppet movie.

Glitterfairys · 11/11/2014 21:34

Definitely Frozen , all three boys love it and if there not watching it we have the soundtrack on Smile I haven't got bored of it yet either !

leesmum · 11/11/2014 21:46

Home Alone...I never tire of hearing my DS's saying "keep the change ya filthy animals" in their best American gangster voices Grin

AlfieandAnnieRose · 11/11/2014 21:47

We usually listen to an audiobook book, the complete Roald Dahl is the current favourite. But on really long trips when they get bored and fidgety then 'Rio' or 'alvin and the chipmunks' will keep them both quiet!

AndHarry · 11/11/2014 22:44

We aren't so high-tech but if we were, it would be The Grinch for DS, who asks to watch it all year round, and The Gruffalo's Child for DD.

thewomaninwhite · 11/11/2014 22:55

We don't watch in the car. If we dod, my choice would be Elf Smile .

MakeTeaNotWar · 11/11/2014 23:04

Old school Disney for mine - Snow White or Bambi

Sorehead · 11/11/2014 23:07

Nothing says Christmas like Home Alone (but only the first two films)

Demonchops · 11/11/2014 23:23

Christmas always means the Polar Express ! Perfect for getting festive !

TsukuruTazaki · 12/11/2014 02:55

Home Alone
The Snowman

Rigbyroo · 12/11/2014 09:43

Dd is really into tangled at the moment and it helps that I love it too so I think I will sit in the back seat with her and sing along!

Shakey1500 · 12/11/2014 09:52

Failsafe film without a shadow of a doubt is Disney Pixar Cars. DS absolutely loves it, as do DH and I Grin

But we've never watched a film while travelling

aftereight · 12/11/2014 10:08

Twin Dvd players (£30 on offer from Argos) and a couple of funny DVDs
A seat tidy box between the DCs with books, small toys, crayons and notebooks
Games of ispy or counting things

ChoudeBruxelles · 12/11/2014 10:25

If ds watched films (or looks at any screens or books) in the car he more likely puke all over the front seats than climb on them. Vodaphone you're portraying us as parents with uncontrollable kids.

choccyp1g · 12/11/2014 10:43

Up till age 10 or so, kid's CDs in the car. Nowadays iPad all the way.

We also used to play games with points for spotting particular cars, animals, tractors etc. but the rules became too complicated to bear.

But I will mention by best ever score for a TRAIN being transported on a lorry. And I won't mention the time we met all the minis travelling to a rally, because a score of 2 to the power of 45 is just ridiculous and anyway I spotted them first.

Jayne35 · 12/11/2014 12:08

See Spot Run - not sure about the peace though as we all laugh loudly, every time we watch it.

monkeyplastic · 12/11/2014 14:44

Disneys cars without fail

rupert23 · 12/11/2014 16:03

my children love films in the car especially on a long journey so i think Frozen will be their choice this christmas and i might even sing along!
