We've been asked by Ready brek to find out about MNers' best porridge based recipes and healthy breakfast creations

Ready brek says "Coinciding with the launch of Ready brek's 'easy sachets' collection, we'd love to hear about how MNers customise their porridge. In tasty Original and delicious Chocolate and Gingerbread flavours, and made only from finely milled oats, vitamins and minerals, this hot oat cereal delivers all the benefits of an adult porridge, but without the lumps. Easy to make in the microwave or with hot milk this kids' porridge gives your children a tasty warming start to the day. But the Ready brek oats can be used for so much more than just porridge. One look at the Ready brek and Weetabix website shows just how versatile these oats can be. From Ready brek breakfast muffins, to 'ginger-brek men', there's hundreds of ways you can make your cereal go further."

So, how do you customise your porridge or Ready brek? Maybe you add some bananas? Or do you prefer to add blueberries or raspberries? Perhaps honey is your usual addition? Whatever you add to your porridge, Ready brek would love to hear about how you keep breakfast time fun and healthy.

If you don't usually have porridge for breakfast, do you have any porridge based recipes? Perhaps you like to add porridge oats when you're baking cookies? Or maybe you'd rather use your porridge oats for flapjacks? Let Ready brek know what your favourite porridge based recipes are.

Every MNer who posts on this thread will go into a prize draw to win £250 from Ready brek and Weetabix.

Thanks,
MNHQ

With Ready Brek it has to be sesame seeds and mixed nuts, but with real porridge - oh my, anything and everything!

Sugar and salt. With or without a generous dollop of butter buried in the middle.
Muscovado sugar in the middle, a drizzle of honey around it, a puddle of Oatly around the porridge.
Peanut butter, with or without jam/honey/treacle.
Sugar and cocoa powder.
Yogurt - good quality plain yogurt.
Chocolate drops scattered on top, them quickly covered over so that you get little melting surprises.
A soft poached egg, butter and a pinch of salt.

I love porridge Grin

I always add salt and Golden Syrup and berries like blueberries or raspberries, i try to PYO when they are in season.

I sometimes add dried fruits, like banana and figs

beckyinman · 09/09/2014 10:22

Honey and dried fruit. Or sometimes a big blob of jam

ImmortalBeloved72 · 09/09/2014 10:29

I eat Dorsets Cereal porridge, they have an oat and barley porridge that you only need to add a touch of sugar to, its delicious.

I have porridge in winter, but neither of my children like it.

I like it with maple syrup, or crunchy brown sugar, and maybe a bit of dried or stewed fruit - apples, pears or plums are my favourites.

DH likes dark chocolate chips, or golden syrup.

gnomebulb2 · 09/09/2014 11:43

I love raisins, and a little bit of sugar. Delicious!

hannonle · 09/09/2014 11:51

Golden syrup! It's yummy! I tried grated apple in the mixture once but it curdled it :(

hushpuppie · 09/09/2014 11:56

strawberry jam

BiggerYellowTaxi · 09/09/2014 11:56

I'm a big fan of adding grated apple, cinnamon and lashings of a smidge of golden syrup.
