To celebrate the launch of the new Vodafone family price plan - Red+ - we have developed a new fun quiz to find out what kind of sharent you are!

What’s a sharent we hear you say…well it’s all about your attitude to sharing photos and updates of your DC online. Are you shary-savvy, a Shary Mary, shary-wary – or totes off the grid?
Take the short quiz now to find out

Vodafone say “For some parents, the internet can seem like a bit of minefield and with new technology emerging all the time, it can be hard to stay up to date. If that sounds like you, worry not. Vodafone has put together some guides and articles to help parents maintain control and keep the family safe – find out more here
Vodafone has also launched a new plan, designed specifically for families. Red+ gives you one data allowance to share and you can even cap your kids’ data so they don't go over their limit. You'll get one simple bill for all devices, saving you money compared to individual plans, and you'll also get unlimited calls and texts”

Find out more at vodafone.co.uk/redplus.

Please take a few minutes to do the quiz and return to this thread to post your sharenting result – let Vodafone know on this thread what it is and what you think and you’ll be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £250 John Lewis voucher.

The Vodafone Digital Parenting Guide can be found here: www.vodafone.co.uk/family

Thanks and good luck

You are share-savvy

Whilst you’re not adverse to a bit of online boasting, you remain a leetle bit sceptical about sharing too much.

Yup no FB images of my DD ever-anyway she´s blocked me and mainly posts on Instragram...

TracyKNixon · 18/08/2014 11:58

share-y wary - that's me - I am not for sharing loads of personal stuff on social media sites - too many weirdos, trolls, pedos etc around!

Darienne · 18/08/2014 11:58

Share-y-wary ;-)

princesssmitheee · 18/08/2014 12:07

looks like im a You are Share-y Mary

Pjran · 18/08/2014 12:08

I'm shary wary too! But we haven't got lots of smartphones, maybe if we did I would share more.

floart · 18/08/2014 12:08

share-savvy apparently ... I don't fill up facebook with pics though as it gets a bit tiresome.

sarah1967 · 18/08/2014 12:09

You are off the grid

Social sharing? If people want to hear your family's news they can call you. On your land-line.

I'm not quite as bad as this. But I am upset if the only way I hear friends' or family news is via social media along with their 100+ other "friends". It is not the method of contacting which bothers me and am quite happy to use new technology to contact people and we tend to share things with mere acquaintances which should only be hared with people close to us. I think with social media we have lost personal contact to a large extent. Which is why I don't like to share our news via social media I'd rather tell the people I want to know personally.

What is your sharenting style?
You are share-y wary

You find the whole world of social media a bit anxiety-inducing - and need help knowing where to dive in.

I think when it comes to children this is very true! But I am very active myself on the internet and with social media - I just prefer not to share family things and especially pics of my children :)

Share savvy - pretty accurate really

prakattack · 18/08/2014 12:28

You are share-savvy

Whilst you’re not adverse to a bit of online boasting, you remain a leetle bit sceptical about sharing too much. In fact, you pride yourself on being pretty up-to-the-minute with your online safety knowledge, and you make sure you pass this on to your kids.

----------------

That sounds about right, I post a lot of statuses but very few photos. Though DCs very small still so I haven't got to the stage where they will have their own technology... dreading that stage to be honest!

idleweiss · 18/08/2014 12:29

I'm 'Share-savvy'! Sounds about right!:)

vestandknickers · 18/08/2014 12:34

I'm off the grid! Not surprising really. No smartphones or electronic games in this house. We're old school! Mind you, my children are only 8 and 10 so may not get away with it for much longer!

sam2kids1 · 18/08/2014 12:36

You are share-savvy

this is kinda true really for me :D

happysouls · 18/08/2014 12:37

I'm share-savvy! I'm on the computer every day, but I'm not fanatical about sharing stuff. I keep in touch with family abroad and friends by email but I don't post that much. Also the computer gets switched off and I don't have a smartphone. Time away is really important. I wouldn't find it acceptable for someone to be interrupting meals or film nights or nights out with phones!

GlaceDragonflies · 18/08/2014 12:42

I'm off the grid and am quite happy with it that way. My DCs are the same.

elho · 18/08/2014 12:44

You are share-y wary

I got this but I'm not wary of the social networks I use them and understand them etc - but I prefer face to face and personal contact.

sealight123 · 18/08/2014 12:45

'You are share-savvy'

That's pretty accurate, however, my daughter is only 3 so I don't worry too much about how much technology she accesses because it is always supervised anyway :)

Andcake · 18/08/2014 12:46

Couldn't answer the questions - I take a photo and just email it to people - stupid quiz ;-)

Well i love Instagram and Twitter so not too sure about that but i loathe Facebook so nearly right i suppose! xx

Im Perfectly fine with that, my life and my children are my business. I dont feel the need for selfies as im happy how i am and dont need to seek others approval. My children are their own people too and if ever they decide to take and post pictures publicly of themselves i would of course allow it, but it would be their choice. Photos are always given willingly to family xx

lorna1104 · 18/08/2014 13:21

You are share-savvy
is my result x

ThemisA · 18/08/2014 13:38

You are share-y wary - too right I am! I value privacy and think it is all too easy to say or do something when in a particular mood/frame of mind that one regrets later, after consideration. I think technology, when used wisely is for our benefit but it is not without costs.
