To celebrate the launch of the new Vodafone family price plan - Red+ - we have developed a new fun quiz to find out what kind of sharent you are!

What’s a sharent we hear you say…well it’s all about your attitude to sharing photos and updates of your DC online. Are you shary-savvy, a Shary Mary, shary-wary – or totes off the grid?
Take the short quiz now to find out

Vodafone say “For some parents, the internet can seem like a bit of minefield and with new technology emerging all the time, it can be hard to stay up to date. If that sounds like you, worry not. Vodafone has put together some guides and articles to help parents maintain control and keep the family safe – find out more here
Vodafone has also launched a new plan, designed specifically for families. Red+ gives you one data allowance to share and you can even cap your kids’ data so they don't go over their limit. You'll get one simple bill for all devices, saving you money compared to individual plans, and you'll also get unlimited calls and texts”

Find out more at vodafone.co.uk/redplus.

Please take a few minutes to do the quiz and return to this thread to post your sharenting result – let Vodafone know on this thread what it is and what you think and you’ll be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £250 John Lewis voucher.

The Vodafone Digital Parenting Guide can be found here: www.vodafone.co.uk/family

Thanks and good luck

Am off the grid and proud! Don't do Facebook or twitter as don't really see the point. My kids do have online access but it's tightly controlled and they are aware of some potential dangers already (dd is 7, ds1 is 5) as we prefer they know things early rather than have a Big Talk later on.

GermyJamie · 15/08/2014 22:13

You are share-savvy

Apparently. I share pics a lot on fb, but i have privacy settings so only a few folk can see them.

mckenzie · 15/08/2014 22:14

I'm share-savvy apparently.
My DS thinks I'm a technophobe!!

stealthsquiggle · 15/08/2014 22:16

Share-savvy. I can live with that, tbh.

unadulterateddad · 15/08/2014 22:20

You are share-savvy

Whilst you’re not adverse to a bit of online boasting, you remain a leetle bit sceptical about sharing too much. In fact, you pride yourself on being pretty up-to-the-minute with your online safety knowledge, and you make sure you pass this on to your kids.

bluebump · 15/08/2014 22:20

Share-savvy.

Sounds about right, I do like social networking sites but very rarely post anything and my privacy settings are quite high. My DS is only 6 so I have a while to worry about him signing up to any of this!

mumsbe · 15/08/2014 22:27

Off the grid just as I thought im not on Facebook

iwantavuvezela · 15/08/2014 22:28

Share savvy ......sounds good especially the savvy bit!

Keepcalmanddrinkwine · 15/08/2014 22:30

Share-Savvy

I like to share but it's not my everything.
Wonder how my teens would score?

Loula117 · 15/08/2014 22:35

I'm sharey-wary apparently. I have no problems with putting up the odd pic of my boys on Facebook, but I am careful to keep an eye on my settings and don't give away too much personal info.

My boys are 6 and 9, neither have smartphones and the wifi is switched off on the eldest's tablet and he only uses it for games. Neither is interested in social networks yet but I admit I will be nervous when the time comes!

BoysWillGrow · 15/08/2014 22:53

Off the grid
Actually fairly actuate, I don't have a smart phone and dont really give much info out online about my dc.

meerschweinchen · 15/08/2014 23:08

Off the grid! Not a huge surprise as I don't post photos of my children on Facebook. My dh is really anti Facebook, so I feel he wouldn't be comfortable with it. I do use the internet a lot though, so not a complete dinosaur!

fishfingerSarnies · 15/08/2014 23:16

You are share-savvy

That surprised me I think I swing between too much Facebook and having no bloody clue how to use it. Don't like to share too much, got really grumpy when people put up videos of my wedding before I even got home from it.

2Retts · 15/08/2014 23:21

Another 'You are share-savvy' here.

Fairly accurate. I have older DCs and I would describe them as 'share-savvy' too. They share more than me but definitely not over sharing.

SaltySeaBird · 15/08/2014 23:34

Fairly accurate although a lot if the answers weren't exactly right (but that's always the way with multiple choice). I'm pretty good with the different social channels and part of my job involves social media. I'm very conscious not to over share.

Mabelface · 15/08/2014 23:37

Share savvy here too. Have tried to stay 2 steps ahead of the kids. They're as savvy as me now, they just don't realise. ;)

missorinoco · 15/08/2014 23:57

Sharey-warey.
I disagree that I find the concept of social media anxiety inducing. I would suggest I am disinterested in the main. I have no desire to put photos of my children on social media for any "friend" to see. When my children are older I will catch up with social media as needed. For now they neither need nor want a phone, smart or otherwise.

EskSmith · 15/08/2014 23:57

Share savvy here too, mostly as I have a shared on line diary I suspect. Found it hard to answer many of the questions, for example something like first day at school I would email a link to a photo on to our shared Dropbox folder, I don't post photos of my children to the world, on the other hand I do share digitally within the family.
None of the options even came close to my ideal night in either. It would be something where we could talk, a board game or a nice meal with no technology involved whatsoever.

RubyGoat · 16/08/2014 00:08

I am Off The Grid. (Not surprising as I have no Facebook account, & never worked out how to use Twitter.)

DrankSangriaInThePark · 16/08/2014 00:09

Off the grid.

Thank heavens.

JeffTheGodOfBiscuits · 16/08/2014 00:28

Sharey-wary. I agree with previous posters that this is not because of anxiety but rather I prefer to deal with people rather than the machine version of them! I'm also very aware that my children cannot currently consent to their online presence even if it's just cute photos so their presence on my (very limited) social media is sparse to say the least.

Rummikub · 16/08/2014 02:59

"You are off the grid"
Yes true. Grin

CrewElla · 16/08/2014 04:52

I expected shary-Mary but got share-savvy. My family all live overseas from me so I do share loads of pics but I don't feel the need to digitally document every waking moment.

OrangeMochaFrappucino · 16/08/2014 06:58

I was share savvy too. My children are very young but I really worry about teens in this age of social media. It's easy for them to over share with disastrous consequences.

Gerrythetootallgiraffeswife · 16/08/2014 07:04

Sharey wary here, although that's definitely less about a lack of technological understanding, and more about not wanting to allow screens to take over my life. She says, whilst online, ignoring her toddler who has instead resorted to talking to herself in the mirror...
