To celebrate the launch of the new Vodafone family price plan - Red+ - we have developed a new fun quiz to find out what kind of sharent you are!

What’s a sharent we hear you say…well it’s all about your attitude to sharing photos and updates of your DC online. Are you shary-savvy, a Shary Mary, shary-wary – or totes off the grid?
Take the short quiz now to find out

Vodafone say “For some parents, the internet can seem like a bit of minefield and with new technology emerging all the time, it can be hard to stay up to date. If that sounds like you, worry not. Vodafone has put together some guides and articles to help parents maintain control and keep the family safe – find out more here
Vodafone has also launched a new plan, designed specifically for families. Red+ gives you one data allowance to share and you can even cap your kids’ data so they don't go over their limit. You'll get one simple bill for all devices, saving you money compared to individual plans, and you'll also get unlimited calls and texts”

Find out more at vodafone.co.uk/redplus.

Please take a few minutes to do the quiz and return to this thread to post your sharenting result – let Vodafone know on this thread what it is and what you think and you’ll be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £250 John Lewis voucher.

The Vodafone Digital Parenting Guide can be found here: www.vodafone.co.uk/family

Thanks and good luck

I'm share-savvy. I like to share photos but am very aware of what I share and who I share it with!!

wigglylines · 21/08/2014 11:04

I got share-savvy too.

grumpydwarf · 21/08/2014 11:07

I'm share-savvy!

OneStepCloser · 21/08/2014 11:24

Off the grid, which is odd as Im never far from my phone and PC, but I dont use FB etc much.

I think they were telling me I am old Sad Grin

VioletWillow · 21/08/2014 11:59

Share-savvy! I think that's fair. I use Whatsapp to send photos to the grandparents in Germany and picture messages to my brother; I don't like the idea of a future boss searching for my daughter prior to an interview and finding naked bath pics that I posted on FB! For me, a little sharing is better while they're small.
I don't worry about my son, he is 12 and has been talked at for years about internet safety! He has more interest in Minecraft than Facebook Smile

I am 'Share-Savvy' Let's hope I can keep it that way as my children become teens. Dreading it already!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/08/2014 18:24

shamtech! Shock did you say something naughty?

justmuddlingalong · 21/08/2014 20:32

I'm 'Off the grid', which doesn't really surprise me. We're up to date with technology, but it hasn't taken over. And I'm glad of this!

cagsd · 21/08/2014 21:07

I'm a sharey wary, which sounds just about right.

amaradnas · 21/08/2014 21:08

Oh no I seem to be off the grid. Well I can be quite private when I want to!

katieskatie1982 · 21/08/2014 21:48

share- savvy. I think thats quite right for me too!

MaryWestmacott · 22/08/2014 07:47

Share-savvy here too.

It helps that my parents are on my facebook and comment on everything

WildThong · 22/08/2014 10:40

"Off the grid"
Why am I not surprised Blush

sadiewoohoo · 22/08/2014 11:03

I got Share Savvy - just what I was hoping for :)

amazinggrace2001 · 22/08/2014 17:22

I am sharey wary- I love my phone and laptop but love my privacy too. I look terrible in selfies too!

mjmooseface · 22/08/2014 17:34

''You are share-savvy

Whilst you’re not adverse to a bit of online boasting, you remain a leetle bit sceptical about sharing too much. In fact, you pride yourself on being pretty up-to-the-minute with your online safety knowledge, and you make sure you pass this on to your kids.''

Lol! I did have to answer some of these hypothetically as I don't have any teen children, nor a school-age child or talk to my parents much!

I would probably agree with this answer though! I know how to be safe online and I will teach my kids to be safe also, when the time comes. But I do not post pictures of myself or my son online for the whole world to see! We have a very private facebook account with only people we know and like (no family! haha), don't use instagram or snapchat or pinterest, I'm on twitter, but have no blog etc. I saw someone else say they used to share pictures but stopped because it gets a bit competitive and I have to agree! I am connected to a lot of parents and bloggers on twitter and it can be a bit overwhelming sometimes with all their homemade recipes and great days out and 'Ooh look at how cute/wild/silly/special/unique etc my child is'! and I have to leave twitter for a while!

I think it's funny sometimes when parents tweet about their kids doing something silly and dangerous and then take a picture of it and upload it. Instead of getting them out of the dangerous situation they've gotten themself into! Sometimes, we have a lovely family day out. I get home and realise I never even took a picture! I then joke, if I can't upload a picture online, did it really happen?! :P Yeah I sometimes feel sad I didn't take any pictures but then I remember that I was there and in the moment and had a wonderful time! Plus, I always break phones and laptops etc and have lost many a picture so I try not to get too hung up on them and print ones off I definitely want to keep!

I like entering competitions but hate it when I have to 'share a picture of my son doing something really cute', or something to enter. Err no! That's for me to see! Not you stranger on the internet who decides if I win or not lol

Okay, rant over! Can you tell I'm no ambassador for social media?! ;)

Seems about right to me!

avidlounger · 22/08/2014 19:25

Share wary. Although I don't find it anxiety provoking at all; I just don't want to be on the social networking sites with enforced non anonymity (due to work and other situations). I don't think the quiz gives an option for someone like me that knows all of the safety stuff and how to do it but chooses not to be on Facebook/twitter/etc. I much prefer my life without it. I'm very keen on making sure my teens are safe on it.

MiniMum97 · 22/08/2014 19:29

I'm share-savvy apparently....sounds about right I think...

AmpleRaspberries · 22/08/2014 19:43

Sharey-warey, which was a surprise as I'm always on my smart phone

Autismmumma · 22/08/2014 20:07

I'm "share-y-wary" apparently, which is about right.

Only use head/shoulders shots generally for DC, only refer as initials, very rare for me to do a "selfie", don't do FB, just twitter, blog and Instagram

BigfootFiles · 22/08/2014 20:09

Share-savvy. Though in reality I think I am increasingly getting warier about sharing as Facebook, Google et al keep moving the privacy goalposts.

allnightnenes · 22/08/2014 20:29

I'm share-savvy
Got to love "getting social" but there are definitely dos and don't s especially when children are involved

MinnieMooo · 22/08/2014 20:53

Share savvy. Sounds about right. Although I am on my phone and iPad so much my 3 year old told me to put it away and "don't use it today or tomorrow". Made me feel like the worst mum ever! I took her advice though (until she went to bed anyway).
