To celebrate the launch of the new Vodafone family price plan - Red+ - we have developed a new fun quiz to find out what kind of sharent you are!

What’s a sharent we hear you say…well it’s all about your attitude to sharing photos and updates of your DC online. Are you shary-savvy, a Shary Mary, shary-wary – or totes off the grid?
Take the short quiz now to find out

Vodafone say “For some parents, the internet can seem like a bit of minefield and with new technology emerging all the time, it can be hard to stay up to date. If that sounds like you, worry not. Vodafone has put together some guides and articles to help parents maintain control and keep the family safe – find out more here
Vodafone has also launched a new plan, designed specifically for families. Red+ gives you one data allowance to share and you can even cap your kids’ data so they don't go over their limit. You'll get one simple bill for all devices, saving you money compared to individual plans, and you'll also get unlimited calls and texts”

Find out more at vodafone.co.uk/redplus.

Please take a few minutes to do the quiz and return to this thread to post your sharenting result – let Vodafone know on this thread what it is and what you think and you’ll be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £250 John Lewis voucher.

The Vodafone Digital Parenting Guide can be found here: www.vodafone.co.uk/family

Thanks and good luck

I am share savvy but I don't like to boast or overshare. I like chatting to people.

Itiswell · 18/08/2014 14:26

I'm off the grid! Well, in this day and age of identity theft and cyber crimes, who can blame me. It's hard to know who owns your pictures and words once it's on the net / social media and what it might be used for without your permission. And so, i'm very guarded when it comes to what goes on social media about my family and I; especially when it comes to pictures and personal data. Even then, i still want to get some benefit from the net / social media, so I pick and choose a whole lot and make as educated / informed a decision as I can for my family and I in different online situations.

Share-y wary

Sounds about right actually!

jaamy · 18/08/2014 14:38

I'm off the grid, apparently.
Think this is more to do with the fact that I often spend ages trying to share or upload something only for the phone to tell me it's failed. Can't be bothered trying!

eloisemummy · 18/08/2014 14:49

You are share-savvy

Whilst you’re not adverse to a bit of online boasting, you remain a leetle bit sceptical about sharing too much. In fact, you pride yourself on being pretty up-to-the-minute with your online safety knowledge, and you make sure you pass this on to your kids.

Yeh that sounds like me :)

I'm off the grid. How disappointing! I thought I was doing somwell!

feefeegabor · 18/08/2014 15:51

I like to keep myself to myself - I certainly don't post any pics of my daughter online, nor do I share on facebook about how wonderful and brilliant she is!

jcyclops · 18/08/2014 15:53

"You are off the grid" - which is bang-on seeing as I never use any of the social networks. I had to laugh when it asked if I wanted to share my results :)

julieef · 18/08/2014 15:53

"Off the grid" and a very retro picture of a typewriter!

BBQsAreSooooOverrated · 18/08/2014 16:04

Share-savvy...happy medium I think :)

I totally agree with this I put certain posts and pictures on Facebook but I only have friends and family on Facebook. I make sure that security is high.

ShatnersBassoon · 18/08/2014 16:13

Off the grid. Not true, I just don't take lots of photos!

Lariflete · 18/08/2014 16:19

You are share-y wary

You find the whole world of social media a bit anxiety-inducing - and need help knowing where to dive in.

I'm ashamed of that! I love seeing what other people are up to and feel a bit mean cos I'm not being as 'open and connected' as other people.

VictoriaSt · 18/08/2014 16:39

You are off the grid

Social sharing? If people want to hear your family's news they can call you. On your land-line.

definitely accurate! i'm not one for oversharing on social networks :D

weeblueberry · 18/08/2014 16:45

I was share savvy a long time before I was a parent though...

RandomDiva · 18/08/2014 17:15

I am share-y wary. Unsurprising.

Not quite accurate. I do not live through social media, but I do post things that are important to me, so that people I might not call or see regularly can see them

TheHoneyBadger · 18/08/2014 17:39

i am 'off the grid' apparently - somewhat of a surprise. ds and i are on the internet a lot and i share a lot of my stuff online but i don't share much in the way of pics or private stuff about my son as that doesn't feel right. think it was those questions that got me the luddite score.

i happily share way tmi about myself but somehow with my son it's entirely different.

TheHoneyBadger · 18/08/2014 17:40

just read up and saw someone else who said 'off the grid' had surprised them and i agree with them actually that mine too is probably influenced by not taking a lot of photos and def not sharing lots of photos with the world.

devito92 · 18/08/2014 17:58

You are share-savvy

We well into social media mostly for reporting on daily family life. My own family live 300 miles away and its the best way to see what were all upto.

compy99 · 18/08/2014 18:23

You are share-y wary -yes this is true!

Ethan260908 · 18/08/2014 18:30

Yep like several others I am off the grid too. Worrying and yet deeply satisfying that I don't have a phone glued to my ear 24/7 (get me using up to date kids lingo)

When in HSBC today they asked whether I use their on line banking app, I replied lets get on line first....

pazanne · 18/08/2014 18:35

You are share-savvy

I like that result!
