With summer in full swing, Netflix have asked us to find out how MNers plan to fit a Netflix Moment into summer family plans this year.

Netflix have a dedicated section for kids and family entertainment, including TV shows like Horrid Henry, iCarly and Spongebob Squarepants and movies such as Tangled, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and Lilo & Stitch. Learn more at the Netflix Kids section. Netflix is available anywhere in the UK with Wi-Fi, on numerous devices with Wi-Fi, including mobiles, tablets, TVs and games consoles.

You can see how other MNers are using Netflix with their families this summer here.

So, how do you think you’ll be using Netflix over the summer holidays to entertain your family and enjoy time together? Are your DCs winding down by watching their favourite show after a big day out? Are the grandparents and kids bonding over a shared love for Toy Story 3? Is Netflix providing some much-needed respite on a rainy day? What else has been keeping your children happy in the holidays? Whatever it is, Netflix would love to hear about it.

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £250 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

Netflix keeps children entertained for hours!

Netflix is good because all my friends access so we share thoughts and compare programmes to make recommendations. Its good for adults and youngsters however need to be careful that it not overused. There has to be mix and matched with the right channels otherwise you watch the same programme all the time.

Movie night with the family, cuddled up under a blanket with lots of homemade treats made with the children during the day.

My daughter is 18 months now and is just starting to be able to sit for a period of time to watch things. We watched Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs recently with popcorn and snacks cosied up on the sofa.

aurorablues · 09/08/2014 21:54

We've been watching lots of Dr Who - Classics and Modern :D

Doubtfuldaphne · 10/08/2014 09:46

Netflix is where my daughter (3) first saw a Disney film. She loved it and asks to watch Netflix movies all the time now! The best part is when I get to choose myself. I've watched both series' of orange is the new black in two days and all the louis theroux docs in one weekend. It's wonderful!
What I like the most is how it remembers where you were so you can just get back to it if you're very rudely interrupted.
My daughter is now in to spongebob and barbie too.

At the moment I don't watch netflicks but when I do start I will be connecting the tablet to the TV and we will be having family film nights (or wet afternoons). I might even treat the children to hotdogs and popcorn if they are good

lilmiztam22 · 10/08/2014 12:51

Tablets are great for the summer especially because of Netflix it means all the kids programmes can be watched all over the house whatever the weather!

feefeegabor · 10/08/2014 16:19

Now my daughter is 12 I'm lucky that we like a lot of the same programmes. We have been watching Glee and have now started on Buffy The Vampire Slayer - so easy with Netflix!

Nightwish · 10/08/2014 17:49

I let DS1 choose what he wants to watch on a rainy day, the Kids section is awesome and gives him free reign as to what he wants.

CJCreggsfanclub · 10/08/2014 17:56

I am now working from home and putting netflix on for the children has been great.

Was also very useful during an impromptu BBQ to keep all 7 children occupied.

dragon60 · 10/08/2014 18:33

When we need some quiet time, theres always something to watch

gamerwidow · 10/08/2014 18:42

My 4yo daughter loves netflix there is always something to watch and the films don't end up scratched and unwatchable like her dvd's do!

baby890 · 10/08/2014 19:13

Plenty of movie nights! Popcorn, goodies and a good film for all the family

mumsbe · 10/08/2014 20:12

We love dr who the whole family watches dr who on a Friday and Saturday night on netflix
Its also awesome when it's a miserable day as the kids movies really good
Also the grown ups love breaking bad

selloveday · 10/08/2014 22:57

Netflix is perfect for keeping my cousins kids quiet when I'm babysitting them and also has the same effect on my other half which is even better!

Babycarmen · 11/08/2014 12:14

For days like today when our little town is flooding... Netflix day with the kids it is!! First up, Toy Story 3!! :)

snare · 11/08/2014 13:52

We watch our movies when we go camping in our tent! :)

DifferentNow · 11/08/2014 16:58

We love snuggling down to watch the new release family movies on rainy days. The cinema is too expensive these days so this feels like a treat.

jayz268 · 11/08/2014 18:34

Mine love watching nature programmes, especially of blue seas and big fish.

BabyFrasersMum · 11/08/2014 19:34

Netflix is a life savour I have it on my tablet and it keeps my 2 yo Boy occupied while I get ready in the morning. Despite the black out blind the sunshine has been creeping through the gaps in his room and we have had some very early starts this summer. He climbs into Mummy's bed and watches Spongebob or Peppa while I wake up and get ready. Thank you Netflix....my hero :)

hbakfam · 11/08/2014 19:44

It's great for watching on my tablet anywhere I like!

handbar · 12/08/2014 18:22

My grandchildren like to watch the films on i-pads when we go for a day out. They take turns in choosing what to watch as the ages range from nearly two up to eleven.

angiesandhu1 · 12/08/2014 20:15

We love sitting on the sofa and watching a movie together, but if my son is bored he will use Netflix Kids and watch iCarly or something similar.

mamato3lads · 12/08/2014 22:52

netflix on the ipads is the best thing EVER!!! we travelled to cornwall this summer holidays, it took over 4 hours and we didnt get a peep out of our 3 sons. we always try to sit down together early on a friday evening and catch up with something fun to watch. The boys are obsessed with lego ninjago on netflix....surprisingly not one of my faves!!! i love orange is the new black....addictive!
