We've been asked by Cif to find out about Mumsnetters' fantasy Grin cleaning products.

Here’s what Cif have to say, "Our latest cleaning product - Cif Express Direct to Floor - can be used direct on the floor and small surfaces for a sparkling clean home. It leaves a long lasting and fresh fragrance. It's suitable for tiled, laminate and washable/ varnished wood floors. To use, you simply squirt the product directly onto the floor, then wipe with a damp mop, there's no need to rinse and it dries really fast! Now available in Antibacterial, Lemon & Apple Flowers and Wild Orchid & Velvet flowers, the RRP is £2.00 for 750 ml."

Check out the MNers review video here (and check out their feedback here):

So, what magic cleaning product would you invent? Maybe you wish for a super-speedy vacuum cleaner? Or maybe a stain remover that can remove every possible stain? Perhaps you'd like to create a dust-repellent spray so you'd never need to dust again? A loo brush that kept itself clean Wink?

Whatever your dream cleaning products are, Cif Express Direct to Floor would love to hear about them.

Everyone who adds a comment will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky MNer will win a £250 voucher for the store of their choice.

Please note comments on this thread might be used by Cif on their website or on their social media channels: please only add a comment if you're happy for your comment to be used.

Thanks and good luck,

my goodness so many things I would love invent: Self polishing shoes, a self sweeping floor to clear away crumbs after meals, ditto for a self cleaning dining table. A washing machine that can sort the washing itself, load itself and then hang the washing out. Same for a dishwasher as it is such a chore loading and unloading that I end up just washing up by hand.

But No 1 on my list would be a self cleaning LOO! (and little bottoms that learn to wipe themselves would be handy too)

I would like some kind of disposable surface for chopping chicken on. This is not a response to a survey, this is a genuine, god I wish I didn't need to bleach and boil and disinfect that nonsense desire. I would pay 50p a sheet easily.

SpinningThing · 26/07/2014 19:43

Domestos used to make a product called Grotbuster. It was a super thick bleach gel, that was truely amazing at cleaning tile grout and sealant; it removed black mould with no trouble at all.

I cannot find anything now that is on par with that, so that would be wonderful if something like that could be made again.

LEE88 · 26/07/2014 21:13

I would love a vacuum cleaner that can keep going for longer than five minutes without losing suction, or even better one that vacuums itself.

PlanetArghhh · 26/07/2014 21:41

Hmmm…What I’d really like is a cleaning product, either a universal one or a different one for each room/purpose etc, that I could maybe apply once a day/week that would actually create an invisible dirt-repellent coating (preferably anti-bac) so only a quick wipe is needed rather than a full scale scrub. I would then use it on kitchen/bathroom tiles, toilets, skirting boards, floors etc. Oh, and one specifically for inside bins too that was 100% anti-bac, and also made all smells disappear! Our recycling/food waste and general bins are particularly smelly in this hot weather whatever I spray in them and fortnightly collection doesn’t help!

And… if the clever development folks at Cif are up for the challenge, what about a daily squirty product for plugholes that stops all the hairy gunk forming in the first place? I then wouldn’t have to put industrial strength fluid down every few weeks, worrying that I’m slowly disintegrating the pipes!

Just thought of one more: Another squirty product that I could spray on chrome taps etc that genuinely repels limescale and doesn’t take the shine off the chrome.

That’s all for now Smile

Id invent the self propelling air hoover.cross between hoover and helicopter

Id call it heli-hover get in touch we'll do a prototype

meisiemee · 27/07/2014 00:16

scottishmummy · 27/07/2014 00:30

Im trotting to get the IP and patent on my heli- hover

WhereAreMyGlasses · 27/07/2014 08:20

A magic liquid which wasnt full of chemicals which cleaned things without oto much elbow grease!

waceystills · 27/07/2014 10:09

Unsure if this has been said, but cleaning gloves.

They would have a scourer/sponge type layer on the palms for cleaning the bathroom.

You can wipe everywhere with your hands and no cloth.

Always wanted one of those.

serin · 27/07/2014 18:33

I want a product that makes my dog smell delicious, just one squirt a day, it would have to be powerful (he can really pong) but kind to his fur and nose!

Go on then cif, I challenge you Grin

Something that gets crayons off the wall.

My DD has turned a wall of my office into a less than fantastic mural and nothing will get it off. I've tried numerous cleaning products and none have worked. I went through an online tips sheet and tried all sorts from toothpaste to yoghurt. The crayon is still there; the surrounding pain work looks patchy.

Re painting the room is now on my to do list ...

MTWTFSS · 27/07/2014 19:45

After washing my hair, I would love a towel that could soak up all the water so when I took my hair out it would be perfectly dry :)

scottishmummy · 27/07/2014 19:48

Wd40 removes crayon from wall, melts it away

scottishmummy · 27/07/2014 19:51

Soray the wd40 into clean tub,dab it with clean dry j-cloth and rub off the crayon
Its a bit messy to spray wd40 on wall,so dab with clean j-cloth is easier

sara11272 · 27/07/2014 19:56

Some sort of glass cleaner that has built-in fingerprint repellant (probably possible).

A self-emptying dishwasher (probably less so).

CointreauVersial · 28/07/2014 11:14

I'd like something that makes a decent job of cleaning shower screens - they are my absolute bugbear.

No matter what cleaning product I use, and how long I leave it on for, there are always faint limescale marks. It's a pain. I would love something that just wipes them away.

Failing that, something which coats the glass so the water just runs off.

Mummageddon · 28/07/2014 11:45

I would like decent cloths for cleaning mirrors and windows. All of mine seem to shed loads leaving little bits behind.

Letitsnow9 · 28/07/2014 13:52

I would like a cleaner that could be used on all surfaces but with no nasty chemicals, smell free and safe

mjmooseface · 28/07/2014 15:21

I would invent an extra button on the toilet which, when pressed, reveals a sort of car wash type washing system that cleans the whole toilet without you having to get your hands in there! All you'd have to do is top up the cleaning liquid in the top of the toilet!

A small device like a dehumidifier, but for dust! It just sits in a corner somewhere and sucks all dust into it so you never have to see or deal with dust ever, ever again!

A sort of powder or liquid that stops fat and grease etc being soo slippery and oily and horrible to get on your hands! Sometimes, I leave a baking tray soaking all week just so I don't have to deal with it getting on my hands! I would invent something to neutralise the greasiness and then wash it as normal!

Our lawnmower broke and we haven't been able to replace it just yet - hopefully this week, though!! - and so the grass has grown pretty long and I keep losing my dog's poos in it. I would invent some sort of satellite tracking device that shows me exactly where he's left a mess and zap it into a million little pieces that fertilise the grass. The amount of times the bag I've been using to pick up the poo has split and I've gotten poo in my fingernails makes me want to cry!! lol So alternatively, no-split, strong, but eco-friendly, doggy bags!

I know these things exist, but I would like a small, but powerful and silent, cordless vacuum cleaner so I can hoover whilst the little one naps. My dog barks at it and tries to attack it so I have to put my child in one room, the dog in another and rotate whilst I do the bloomin' hoovering! It takes way longer than it needs to!

If there's no such thing as a giant bin bag with enormous ties to put in the outdoor bins, I would invent them too. To stop those bins getting so gross and smelly! On bin day, you would just tie up the huge bin bag and there you go! Pop a new one in for the next lot of rubbish! ;)

CheeryName · 28/07/2014 15:23

I would like some cleaning spray that doesn't make me sneeze and feel wretched the whole day, but actually WORKS please.

CheeryName · 28/07/2014 15:23

mjmooseface · 28/07/2014 15:24

Ooh, and a really powerful spray gun that you can load up with the perfect solution for sorting out the darn grouting in the bathroom! Load up the spray gun and blast it at the offending areas and wipe away the excess with a cloth afterwards!

rainbow9713 · 28/07/2014 17:02

A self cleaning oven haha. Like really I don't no anyone who like cleaning their oven!!

Scousadelic · 28/07/2014 17:19

I would like some powerful cleaning stuff that cleans the grouting in the shower when it goes black or that awful yukky orange without me scrubbing till my arms ache. I have tried every mould/mildew remover known to mankind and none of them work particularly well. If it could prevent it growing mildew, or whatever it is, again that would be even better.
