You may have noticed that Cadbury Dairy Milk Egg ‘N’ Spoon have been working with Mumsnet over the past couple of months in the run up to Easter. Now that Easter is almost upon us, Cadbury Dairy Milk Egg ‘N’ Spoon want to find out what Mumsnetters enjoy doing with their children around Easter time.

Cadbury Dairy Milk Egg ‘N’ Spoon have been celebrating those spontaneous joyful little moments parents share with their DCs. With Easter coming up in a couple of weeks Cadbury Dairy Milk want to know what you enjoy doing with your DCs in the run up to Easter or on Easter Sunday itself. Perhaps you decorate Easter eggs together? Or maybe you do an Easter egg hunt together on the morning of Easter Sunday? Whatever it is, we’d love to hear it.

Everyone who adds their comments to this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £200 John Lewis voucher.

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

P.S. Cadbury Dairy Milk are encouraging Mumsnetters to get artsy this Easter and have come up with two how-to arts and crafts guides on what you can do with a left over Cadbury Dairy Milk Egg ‘N’ Spoon box. You can view the Larry the Lamb guide here, and the Easter Chick Basket here. What do you think of them? Is it something you'd try?

We enjoy doing easter activities - making bonnets, joining in the town's big easter egg hunt and we have our own small one at the grandparents house (in garden if weather is fine). This easter we're going to make the most of the activities that are going on like at the local national Trust property. It's a good chance to spend family time together!

Pollaidh · 03/04/2014 13:44

Simple easter egg hunt around the garden. Might dye some boiled eggs using vegetable dyes.

fanoftheinvisibleman · 03/04/2014 13:45

The local hall/park always has egg rolling and decorated egg competitions so we will be taking part as usual.

TyrannosaurusBex · 03/04/2014 13:57

We're getting together with a few other families to rehearse and stage a production of Little Red Riding Hood, culminating in a performance at the local church hall!

HilaryMantelshelf · 03/04/2014 14:26

Church, choc, big pork roast and having Grandad to stay - a blissful weekend for the dc!

A large part of the Easter break follows a similar pattern to other school holidays in our house.

I spend much of my time just trying to get the little blighters to get up! I start making some noise about 10 ish, hoovering , opening blinds, singing etc. By the time it gets to midday I move on to less subtle methods. Pulling off duvets, jumping up and down on their beds etc.

By the time it gets to early afternoon I just stop playing games and get down to business......I threaten to eat their Easter eggs!! I haven't seen my two girls move so fast as when I threatened to eat their Easter eggs, they were up and down the stairs in about 5 seconds flat Grin

vestandknickers · 03/04/2014 18:02

We'll be baking easter cakes and doing the easter egg hunt at our local National Trust house.

PenelopePitstop16 · 03/04/2014 18:05

We've got a special Easter this year and are going skiing - very exciting. Will be ensuring we have an Easter Egg hunt as well, either in one of the lovely NT properties near us or in our garden.

Cola204 · 03/04/2014 18:15

I love Easter and buy lots of eggs for all the family. We will get together with extended family and go on a National Trust easter egg hunt locally. I also do an easter egg hunt in the house.

midwifeandmum · 03/04/2014 18:15

Nice easter walks. painting eggs, rolling them down the hill. easter egg hunts and spending time with family and friends

silverlace · 03/04/2014 18:17

We have a created a tradition that we have done for the last 8 years where we meet a friend at a local National Trust property on Good Friday and do the Cadbury easter egg hunt.

We have done it in pouring rain, sunshine and last year in the snow.

The boys do the egg hunt, get their prize then sit on a hill under a tree and scoff the chocolate. They then all roll down the hill together and have a lot of fun.

I take pictures every year and it is great to look back and see their chocolaty faces and see how they have grown.

Due to them doing an activity the day before I suggested that we didn't do it this year. Well, there was a near riot in our house so we will be off again. Fingers crossed for good weather.

Coffeechick · 03/04/2014 19:19

We will be baking a cake and doing family activities such as watching a film and going out to some museums in Central London which are holding events over the holidays for children.

Beccie77 · 03/04/2014 20:27

We make egg dioramas every year. The mupp-eggs (muppets) was a highlight, but we have also made a dr whegg and tardis, a dinoegg and volcano and an egg-factor trio. It's just cardboard, tin foil plasticine and blown eggs but its something we do together and even the 13yo shill gets involved (even if only at the design stage !)

BlackeyedSusan · 03/04/2014 21:30

we go to church at Easter, both Good Friday and Sunday.

On Easter Monday we do an egg hunt.

daisybrown · 03/04/2014 23:16

Catch up with friends and family. If the weather holds out then a couple of trips to adventure/play parks. Battling to turn off the xbox!

Krystalina · 03/04/2014 23:48

I organise an Easter egg hunt around the house for my two girls. They are separate hunts because the clues are according to their academic abilities. It's a good way to fit in some of the learning from school. Eg, how many sides does a pentagon have, or how do you spell (a word from their spelling test). So, while it can take me hours to set up two hunts, it is over in about 15 minutes. But it's still fun for all involved :-)

Titsalinabumsquash · 04/04/2014 07:42

We have a huge Turkey family roast dinner, followed by a gooey chocolate cake for dessert.

We go for a long walk in and take in the new spring flowers, daffodils are my favourite flower ever so I love walking through woods and seeing big patches of them! :)

Bubbles85 · 04/04/2014 08:55

DC is too young at the moment, but I'm taking note of other people's tips for next year! This year I will hide some mini eggs around the house for DH who is a big kid too!

We go for a walk to find branches and twigs to make an Easter tree. An Easter egg hunt is tradition even though my dc's know the Easter Bunny is not hiding the eggs now!
We try to get together for a big family lunch on Easter Monday, it's usually roast lamb.
We don't tend to go away during the Easter hols, the dc's are usually pretty tired before this holiday and they enjoy relaxing and not being on a timetable.

Roseformeplease · 04/04/2014 20:05

This Easter is being spent with 2 grannies - DH's Mum and my SMum (who now lives overseas) so it will be extra special. We are also meeting up with a huge gang of family for lunch, some we only see occasionally. We will also have an egg hunt - they no longer believe in the mythical bunny, but still expect his visit. We will all go out for a big walk and I am thinking of putting egg n spoon eggs in their egg cups for breakfast as we enjoyed being testers.

Easter is about family and chocolate - not necessarily in that order.
