You may have noticed that Cadbury Dairy Milk Egg ‘N’ Spoon have been working with Mumsnet over the past couple of months in the run up to Easter. Now that Easter is almost upon us, Cadbury Dairy Milk Egg ‘N’ Spoon want to find out what Mumsnetters enjoy doing with their children around Easter time.

Cadbury Dairy Milk Egg ‘N’ Spoon have been celebrating those spontaneous joyful little moments parents share with their DCs. With Easter coming up in a couple of weeks Cadbury Dairy Milk want to know what you enjoy doing with your DCs in the run up to Easter or on Easter Sunday itself. Perhaps you decorate Easter eggs together? Or maybe you do an Easter egg hunt together on the morning of Easter Sunday? Whatever it is, we’d love to hear it.

Everyone who adds their comments to this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £200 John Lewis voucher.

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

P.S. Cadbury Dairy Milk are encouraging Mumsnetters to get artsy this Easter and have come up with two how-to arts and crafts guides on what you can do with a left over Cadbury Dairy Milk Egg ‘N’ Spoon box. You can view the Larry the Lamb guide here, and the Easter Chick Basket here. What do you think of them? Is it something you'd try?

We are lucky enough to live near the beach, so over the Easter hols we always try and get to the beach. If it's sunny we manage a picnic/first paddle and if not we still go and gather a few egg shaped stones. The next day we decorate them with paint/varnish and put them in the garden for the Easter bunny to find! I have to say, persuading the two 'tweenagers' to join in with the two 'smalls' gets harder each year - even with mini eggs as bribery!

On Easter Sunday my children always wake up to a carefully constructed treasure hunt, complete with witty riddles and chocolate surprises! Grin

My children are aged 2, 6 and 10 and they thoroughly enjoy working together to solve the riddles and work out the clues. This take around 5 minutes to complete Confusedand then it's all about enjoying the chocolate eggs, followed by a day out somewhere!

We usually go to a National Trust property as we all enjoy going on the egg hunts & collecting all the clues. I like that it can be a challenge for my 9 & 3 year olds with the age appropriate clues.

Dd then scoffs her egghead whilst the rest of us have a picnic! Ds isn't that fond of chocolate so usually mummy & granny share his after he has had a little nibble.

Over the holidays we have day trips & normally it is at least one of the dc's birthdays but this year as Easter is so late that'll all be over.

I love Easter, so we have pancakes for breakfast, Easter Sunday church service and an Easter egg hunt before lamb for dinner. Like a previous poster we have just discovered the Easter egg hunts at NT so we are also doing one of those at Sutton house this holiday as well.

We do the usual baking - Easter nests with chocolate, shredded wheat and mini eggs; chocolate bunnies (have got moulds) and lollies; hot cross buns. And we always go to the theatre to a family show- which is great.
Those crafts look like a good idea - though I tend to think crafts are an excellent idea until I do them...

we might go to a local attraction for an Easter Egg hunt, but that will be it. We have an Easter Egg each, but don't do anything else especially for Easter. Maybe a nice roast dinner with my parents. Might go out for the day for a walk on the beach or something.

Before XH left we used to go away for Easter each year, now that I'm on my own, it kind of doesn't have the same appeal that it used to.

We paint eggs and roll them down the hill at our local county park. We go for a long walk then a picnic in the house with a blanket and all if cold or outside if warmer. Family time is important.

We make an egg hunt at home using clues in eggs. We usually attend Easter events at the local park, and craft events in the town centre during the Easter hols. We do Lent craft at church too.
Last few years, we've gone on a 1 or 2 night hotel break over Easter. DD is 4 and is a firm believer in the Easter bunny Smile

We will be having an Easter egg hunt around the house or garden (depending on how wet it is).
We've been making an Easter bonnet and we will be decorating some hard boiled eggs nearer the day.

My DD is only 19 months old so not quite old enough to really understand but we have a few fun things planned.

We are going to have a family picnic at an orchard where the trees are in full blossom. Hopefully DD can charge around scattering petals like confetti while we catch up with the rest of the family who are joining us.

At home we plan to do a little Easter egg hide and seek in the living room, we do this with her HappyLand toys which she finds great fun so she should enjoy it.

I was a tester in the last Cadburys discussion but have only just seen Larry the Lamb. I love the look of this and hats off to the creative person that came up with it. I might have to attempt making him. DD is only little but she loves it when I try and get creative and always joins in.

We start off with a craft session at our church on Good Friday. This usually involves chocolate nests and mini eggs. Yum!

The Sunday is an egg hunt in the garden, followed by chocolate eggs for all in church and then a National Trust Easter Trail locally. Were all high as kites by the time we've finished Smile

We make our own Easter eggs with moulds that came with a kit I bought a few years ago. Its messy but LOTS of fun, and I buy a box of wrapped chocolates from aldi and we put some inside the eggs.

I usually set up am Easter egg hunt for my dd's closest friends.

This year, for the first time I'm planning for us to make hot cross buns.

On Easter Sunday we will go to church.

We go to visit my aunt and go Womble hunting on Wimbledon Common. Even if it's pouring with rain. Then we go back to her house and have tea and Simnel Cake. Yum.

We always get together with all of the cousins at Nanny's house and do a massive egg hunt, all different kinds of eggs, all sizes, and have a proper easter dinner, roast turkey and the works

We decorate a hard boiled egg for a school competition

As total chocoholics - me and dh, the hardest thing is not snaffling all of the kids' eggs Grin

in the hols this time we'll be doing gentle family stuff as we get to know our new baby, ds3 now 7 days old Grin

Easter Egg hunt where ever we are - probably at a cottage in North Wales. Both me and my DP did Easter Egg hunts as children and it is a tradition I am keen to keep up- - we don't just search eggs, also little furry chicks, china bunnies etc. Great fun.

Easter eggs hunts is not a tradition that I grew up with nevertheless I'm going to try one in the garden this year for my 3 year old, I can imagine the squeals of joy. We'll also go to mass even though i am not religious as I think it's important that the DCs understand why Easter and the other Christian holidays are celebrated.

We carry on with many of the things I enjoyed as a child- my children both wake to a basket with a small egg in it next to them and they then have an Easter egg hunt around the house in the morning.

They are very lucky and get plenty of eggs from other relatives so we try and get them a gift for the garden to kick-start the summer (Sons' birthday is in December and Daughters' is the end of August so neither is well placed for garden gifts) This year my six year old son will be getting a football goal and my two year old daughter a play tent- both bargains I found months ago! Then it is across to my parents for an Easter egg hunt in the garden and randomly a Christmas dinner!

Easter Monday is spent with friends- and a BBQ if the weather holds out well enough.

Easter is a great time for arts and crafts- we have already done Easter egg cards for the Grandparents and the obligatory Easter bonnet competition. We will probably also decorate egg shells at some point and make an Easter garden (foil container from a quiche or similar- filled with half an egg shell for a pond, large stone for rock and cave, soil, flowers, twigs for trees, moss for grass etc etc- can fill hours and end up looking really good). I have also got some Easter bunny masks in for decorating when we have other children over and they get to that stage where they need an activity to occupy themselves.

All in all I imagine there will be lots of glue and glitter to clear up over the Easter holidays as well as plenty of chocolate to tuck into.

We love Easter, and have fun celebrating it. On Easter Sunday, the two small people will come downstairs and see that the Easter Bunny's been Grin
Breakfast is usually hot cross buns and a bit of Easter egg
I buy small eggs too and hide them around the house for a little Easter egg hunt. I write clues and then they have to find the egg.
When I was little, I used to love the 'egg rolling' competition in the village where I lived. Every year we used to decorate a hard boiled egg and then roll it down a hill. The egg that rolled the furthest was the winner, and everyone got an Easte egg for taking part.
Sadly I don't live in the village any more, but I always try to find one near us for my children to take part in as they're great fun!

A whole range of stuff such as Easter baskets, decorating eggs, egg hunts, our favourite is hard boiled eggs in onion skins to change the shell colour then rolling them into each other. Think confers but with boiled eggs

I love Easter, more now I have children than I did when I was a child. Every year 'the Easter Bunny' hides eggs all over the farm we live on and then we all go on a lovely walk around the farm so the children can hunt for the eggs. The last egg is always the big egg and has a chocolate medal with it too. The children love it!!! Then, weather permitting, we have a family BBQ, slightly less traditional than a Lamb Roast but just as lovely and brings a fun family spirit to Easter.

I'm going to do an Easter egg dip. I'm going to dye rice different colours, put into a container and put mini choc eggs inside. I'll give the kids a scoop each and let them explore.

Last year I bought plastic eggs and put mini choc eggs, hair slides and mini figures inside and placed them around two rooms. The one she didn't spot was in the middle of the room!

My DD is nearly 3.10 yrs and DS is 2.4yrs.

We decorate eggs with felt tips/glue random sequins etc on then go for a walk to find a hill to roll them down. When we stay with my Dad it's always a challenge to find a hill as he lives in Lincolnshire, so we have lots of fun flinging them as high in the air as possible to crack them. Incredible how hard the shell of a hard-boiled egg actually is Grin

We have an egg hunt round the garden (or house if it's wet) using a variety of small chocolate eggs and bunnies. Last year we did a treasure hunt with clues.

Then we eat lots of chocolate and watch Hop!
