You may have noticed that Cadbury Dairy Milk Egg ‘N’ Spoon have been working with Mumsnet over the past couple of months in the run up to Easter. Now that Easter is almost upon us, Cadbury Dairy Milk Egg ‘N’ Spoon want to find out what Mumsnetters enjoy doing with their children around Easter time.

Cadbury Dairy Milk Egg ‘N’ Spoon have been celebrating those spontaneous joyful little moments parents share with their DCs. With Easter coming up in a couple of weeks Cadbury Dairy Milk want to know what you enjoy doing with your DCs in the run up to Easter or on Easter Sunday itself. Perhaps you decorate Easter eggs together? Or maybe you do an Easter egg hunt together on the morning of Easter Sunday? Whatever it is, we’d love to hear it.

Everyone who adds their comments to this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £200 John Lewis voucher.

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

P.S. Cadbury Dairy Milk are encouraging Mumsnetters to get artsy this Easter and have come up with two how-to arts and crafts guides on what you can do with a left over Cadbury Dairy Milk Egg ‘N’ Spoon box. You can view the Larry the Lamb guide here, and the Easter Chick Basket here. What do you think of them? Is it something you'd try?

I am at university all week and work all weekend so I get very little quality time with my little boy. I have Easter Sunday off of work so I just want to have some special time with him. We will do a little egg hunt at home, go to the gardening group at the local farm and hopefully have lots of cuddles and much laughter together.

Cherryjellybean · 01/04/2014 07:45

Our Easter usually has a big family Easter egg hunt, for adults and children. Some eggs have names on and there are loads of tiny ones which are free for all.
I usually make an Easter cake and we go to church on the Sunday.
I love some of the ideas above! As dd is a bit older this year I might do more craft things with her.

whattoWHO · 01/04/2014 07:57

We're going to attempt to make Easter eggs today for teacher and TA.
We love doing crafts, bunting etc to decorate the house.
Hot cross buns on Good Friday.
We'll be having an Easter egg hunt on the day.
And church does an egg hunt after service.
Nothing revolutionary, but loads of traditions that make us talk about what Easter is.

whattoWHO · 01/04/2014 08:00

Oh, and we're getting married on Easter Saturday so that makes it super special this year!
Is it too late to suggest an Easter bonnet competition for the hat-wearing guests?Grin

My kids love doing the National Trust Egg Hunts. We are lucky to live near to several properties and they like planning which they want to do on which day and if we can do two in one day. For the last few years we've managed to do at least one everyday over the four day weekend; we then have lots of Eggheads...

charliechinuk · 01/04/2014 09:28

My other half is taking our daughter to CBeebies Live while I look after our baby boy. I have lots of activities for my daughter to do, Easter egg hunting, crafts and quite a bit more. Also a trip to indoor play

mjmooseface · 01/04/2014 09:29

Well, last year, my son was just 6 months old and embarking on his weaning journey so he had a teeny bit of chocolate egg to try. He's obviously a bit older this year so I'm hoping if the weather stays nice we can go to a farm park for the first time and look at the animals! But whatever the weather, we will go and do something and make the most of husband's few days off work.

I will probably try out the egg box arts and crafts just for myself because I like stuff like that! I could maybe try making crafts with my son but he very much still wants to put everything in his mouth so it does make things a bit harder!! lol

As my son gets older, we will do more for Easter. See if there are any events going on in the city. I will probably try my hand at creating an Easter egg scavenger hunt one year just because I get proper into these celebrations, even if we're not actually religious and believe the story behind Easter... It's just a good excuse to eat a lot of Chocolate! Not that I need an excuse to eat chocolate! ;)

mjmooseface · 01/04/2014 09:31

whattoWHO congratulations on getting married on Easter Sunday! I hope it is an amazing and special day for you! :D I think an Easter bonnet competition sounds great! ;D

deels · 01/04/2014 09:52

we just sit back and relax and enjoy the holidays and hope that the weather is good. lol

InMySpareTime · 01/04/2014 11:52

We do mad science experiments in the garden, or go on epic cycle rides.

rootypig · 01/04/2014 11:54

Food and crafts! I have such fond memories of making the same things every year at primary school - egg box daffodil cards, and snowdrops - can't remember how to do these! and weaving easter baskets and filling them with chocolate eggs. Making easter nests from rice crispy cakes. And then proper baking - simnel cake.

DD isn't really old enough for any of these things yet, she is 17mo, so I will have to think of others - perhaps easter walks and an egg hunt in the garden.

cazzybabs · 01/04/2014 11:59

EASTER egg hunt

chocolate easter nest making/simnel cake making and eating

easter walk - probably at a local NT place

See the lambs

themitch21 · 01/04/2014 12:03

We're going camping down in Devon this Easter and making use of one of the Cadbury Easter egg hunts while we're down there. Should be good fun as I believe it's taking place along a nature trail.

starlight36 · 01/04/2014 12:10

A mini Easter egg hunt in the garden. DCs are 3 and 14 months so probably too young for organised ones.

Egg decorating and bonnet making.

This year we're going to make some Easter cakes and biscuits.

BornToFolk · 01/04/2014 12:24

I've always done Easter Egg hunts for DS (6) but I'm planning a slightly more elaborate one this year with written clues. I'm also planning to hide football stickers (his current obsession) along with small eggs.

ShatnersBassoon · 01/04/2014 12:46

I always enjoy making an Easter bonnet, and it makes me sad that my children are too old to take part in parades now Sad. I should make one for myself.

Eve · 01/04/2014 12:48

Mine are teenagers but not too old for Easter eggs and we will have an extra special Easter Sunday Lunch

lancasterkaren · 01/04/2014 13:25

We host a neighbourhood Easter egg hunt in our garden every year. Have about 20 children. Set up a craft table after the hunt and children get to make goodies to take home. We also have special prize for the child that finds the golden egg!

Smilesandpiles · 01/04/2014 13:26

We're going away on our first holiday on Easter weekend. I didn't realise it was easter weekend when I booked it.

It's the first holiday for all of us, espcially now it's just us 3 so we're really looking forward to it. I've already packed the easter eggs in the suitcases.

Were going to an activity centre so there are going to be loads and loads for the kids to do, I doubt we'll get time for crafty stuff unless it's in the resort.

At home though, we do a lot of baking and crafts and every easter I did an egg hunt for the kids to do. Well, until the dog ate them all one easter..that didn't go down well with the kids I can tell you.

BooRooandTiggerToo · 01/04/2014 13:33

This year we are looking to attend one of the Cadburys egg trails at a nearby National Trust property. I see them advertised every year but this year we are actually going to go

FlankShaftMcWap · 01/04/2014 13:37

We go lamb spotting, we love to see a lamb born on Easter day. That's spring for me.

BenjiKayMum · 01/04/2014 14:04

We host an Easter Egg Hunt, with plastic eggs filled with fluffy chicks, mini eggs and small traditional toys like spinning tops. After the hunt we have a craft table to make Easter hats and baskets and then we all have an Easter themed lunch - hot cross buns and bunny and chick shaped sandwiches, etc

We also love inviting our neighbours in for afternoon tea over the Easter weekend and sharing an Easter themed decorated fruit cake (done with guidance from a clever neighbour!) and generally sharing our Easter holidays with friends and family.

Punkatheart · 01/04/2014 14:07

I will be going up to visit wolves at a local place. It's not just the wolves that we love but there are lots of spring-like things too - lambs in the surrounding fields, lots of different birds and great walks. We have also gone walking with wolves - which is astonishing.

RubySparks · 01/04/2014 14:19

We put up an 'Easter tree' basically some twigs decorated with fabric eggs and little chickens and anything else that seems like a good idea. We usually bake some Easter cakes, cupcakes or crispy cakes with mini eggs on top and on Easter Sunday have an egg treasure hunt around the house and garden. Kids are in high school now and STILL want to do that!
