Dd has started to crawl ( in a fashion - wormy squirm) across the room. Yesterday I had to pop upstairs for a moment and left her sitting playing with some toys. I came back and she was on her tummy facing the opposite direction, across the room at her toy box. She has now just crawled across the floor to get her hands on the remote control.

SHe also had her fist paddle in her paddling pool. It is her 1st birthday next month and we bought her the pool for that - figured we better get it early in case there it not too long to enjoy it. SHe looked so cute in her sunvest and hat splashing like mad....

thomcat, I missed your original post about Lottie standing, that's brill, there'll be no stopping her soon!

ThomCat · 30/10/2003 16:11

Oh alibubbles - I hope and pray, to whoever is listening, that you're right.
The day that girls takes her first steps, well, I can bearly think about it now without getting emotional.

A lady told me the other day that her little girl who has DS didn't walk till she was 4.5! I know I should count my blessing that Lottie will be able to walk at all, others aren't so lucky, but it kills me now that she can't join in with her peers. Another 2.5 years of the same, well it is what it is I suppose but I hope she just suddenly understands what she has to do and goes for it.

Sorry to butt in on this thread, but your dd sounds fantastic Thomcat. You know, the love you have for your girl just bounces off every post you make - it's SO vivid (not that anyone else sounds remotely unloving I hasten to add). Whatever she does or doesn't do in the next few months, she's still your amazing daughter. And Jimjams LOL, that's my idea of heaven - another way of saying 'cake' - his very favourite thing in all the world. Dinosaur, good news on your party. He sounds like he had a good time. What a lovely, lovely thread.

aloha · 30/10/2003 22:06

I mean, it's my and my ds's favourite thing - and he's obsessed with cake!

Eulalia · 01/11/2003 00:00

These posts are great

Just to add my own.. ds actually tried to respond to my question this evening after his Halloween party. He had hurt his finger and I asked him how he did it (actually I knew but was just testing him). Before he would have either ignored me or just echoed the question back.

With lots of stopping and starting and searching for words he finally said "I do it on the moon" - to translate - this meant he cut his finger on his broomstick (which he calls a 'moonstick' ) but he missed out the stick part.... just goes to show how you have to really know your child!! That would be incomprehensible to anyone else... and of course fortuante that I saw what happened... but the main thing is that he is communicating

ThomCat · 03/11/2003 10:43

Aloha - what a lovely thing to say. I don't feel very well this morning and to come in to work to read that really made me smile - thanks for making me feel better! xx

Eulalia and Dinosaur - how heartwarming.

Caroline5 · 06/11/2003 17:38

Dd2 makes virtually no babble or words at all - very occasionally she says "mama" and "ewo" (hello). So I nearly fell off my chair when today she leant towards me at the tea table while munching and said clear as anything "yum yum" !! This seemed to be in context! She has also started nodding and shaking her head, although not often at the right moment which can sometimes be very amusing!

ThomCat · 06/11/2003 17:41

Oh that's brilliant. It's great when you start to being able to communicate with them How old is your DD?

Caroline5 · 06/11/2003 17:45

She's nearly 2 and a half - she is trying to communicate a lot more recently!

fio2 · 06/11/2003 17:47

Thats lovely CarolineSmile

ThomCat · 06/11/2003 17:53

Oh bless her - I'm really pleased for you.

After the fireworks last night Lottie had a lot to "say". She was so animated. She was holding her arms above her head and saying "bang, bang" and then looking at everyone in the room whilst making her eyes go all big and pursing her lips and saying 'oooohhhhhh' and then flapping her hands with her arms held out stright in front of her and then kind of repeating the whole thing. It was our longest and bestest 'conversation' yet!

Caroline5 · 06/11/2003 17:53

Hi fio! (This thread is so long, time for a Proud 3!!) When are you moving house, saw this might be soon on another thread?

Caroline5 · 06/11/2003 17:54

Brilliant Thomcat!

ThomCat · 06/11/2003 17:57

Caroline - I bet like me you can't wait for the first time they wrap their arms round you and say 'love you mummy'. Ohhh blimey, how wonderful is that going to be?!!

fio2 · 06/11/2003 17:59

I'm looking forward to that tooSmile caroline, Im ok thanks, hope you are too. Only put the house up yesterday but have already had enough people nosing round iykwim!

Blu · 06/11/2003 18:04

Brilliant, brilliant good news! (Caroline and ThomCat). So pleased...more fireworks, more yummy dinners! SO pleased Lottie was thrilled with the fireworks. I can just imagine the sparkle in her eyes. it's great sharing these things with them for the first time, isn't it?

eidsvold · 06/11/2003 19:01

some more brilliant posts again... always to good to read...

One from us - we have a right football hooli in our house now.... we started doing the football clap rhythm that ends with a loud England at the end...to encourage dd to clap... she was sort of attempting to but not real success....

well now we have success..... she claps along to the rhythm ( not really in time) but very pleased with herself and on the odd occasion lifts her arms up at the end. In fact last night dh was in the study - no rhythm or noise and then a loud England ( don't ask) next minute dd starts her clapping.

Her football mad dad is dead proud of her .....

We also seem to have another two new teeth and two more not far behind..... bless...
