Dd has started to crawl ( in a fashion - wormy squirm) across the room. Yesterday I had to pop upstairs for a moment and left her sitting playing with some toys. I came back and she was on her tummy facing the opposite direction, across the room at her toy box. She has now just crawled across the floor to get her hands on the remote control.

SHe also had her fist paddle in her paddling pool. It is her 1st birthday next month and we bought her the pool for that - figured we better get it early in case there it not too long to enjoy it. SHe looked so cute in her sunvest and hat splashing like mad....

I've been a bit behind here- just read through the whole list- lovely news from everyone. Doormat- those record of achievement type things always make me blub!

fio- the same thing happened to me when I rang to tell friends that ds1 had pooed on the floor next to the toilet (!!) I only rang a couple of NT friends then stopped becuase they all sounded faintly horrified. When I rang my auti friends they all said "wow that's brilliant he's doing so well"

Eidsvold- what's wrong with your M and T group?? (Just curious) Go on get stuck in !

good news eulalia you must have been really chuffed and good news jimjams, my dd asked to use to potty yesterday by smacking her bum in sheer frustration and doing the toilet sign at me, I pulled her nappy down for her and she sat on it and a no1 and a no2-I was very, very shocked(hope she carries on asking now!!)

jimjams Im glad its not just me who gets these reactions off friends-you know the other annoying thing about 'some' people is they think you must be really disappointed that you dd/ds isnt reaching milestones etc. and when they do its compared to when they should have done it and they dont think you are going to be proud of your dd/ds in the same way they were(does that make sense??)

eidsvold we have some weird M&T groups round here too!! Me and my friend went to one a couple of months back and my friend kept commenting about how quiet it was there-she kept saying was it because there was a carpet down. The truth was nobody spoke to one another and I think the kids were too frightened to speak tooSmile

eidsvold · 21/07/2003 08:02

i'm getting tech to remove that large msg from this thread. Great news fio!!

eidsvold I know what you mean about that womans comment- one group I have been attending since dd was 7 months old closed down last week. I asked one of the mums why it was closing and she replied 'whats it to you? you cant be bothered to come half the time anyway' (I just smiled but was thinking 'how rude'WinkSmile

fio2 · 21/07/2003 08:05

eidsvold it doesnt have to be removedSmile

doormat · 21/07/2003 08:07

wonderful news fio2

Jimjams · 21/07/2003 08:15

That's great news about the potty fio.

Makes total sense (the friend business). I soon discovered that my pre-diagnosis friends divided into 2 camps. The ones who took it totally in their stride, cometely understood, and have remaned completely normal. The other camp get all embarrassed if ds1's name is mentioned. Spend as much time as possible asking about ds2 and talking about their kids, and will only mention ds1 if I bring him up, and spend most of the time saying all the "wrong" things iykwim. I've pretty much binned the second camp. Figured I didn't have the time to be dealing with other people's embarrasment. Made new friends in the auti world anyway. I didn't say anything to the second camp, just didn't go out of my way to make contact- they've all drifted off anyway.

Jimjams · 22/07/2003 17:40

I've put a choice board up on the fridge. DS1 keeps turning up with the PECS symbol for cake

doormat · 22/07/2003 17:43

Is right Jimjams

Jimjams · 22/07/2003 17:49

wow! Ds1 has just eaten a yoghurt by himself. he never got the idea of holding the pot with one hand whilst spooning with the other. He's just done it . This is a biggy!

doormat · 22/07/2003 17:52

Jimjams · 22/07/2003 18:20

No-completely clean. DS2 also fed himself his- and he was plastered!

eidsvold · 22/07/2003 18:26

no mess -WOW- Smile how clever!

Jimjams · 22/07/2003 19:55

thank god fio- if he spills even the tiniest speck it results in a huge meltdown and he has to take his clothes off!! We've already changed clothes once today because he spilt some water down him.

ThomCat · 23/07/2003 11:06

Great news JimJams, really pleased.

doormat · 23/07/2003 15:27

Today tried to get ds to eat some food, well he took 4 spoonfuls of yoghurt off me. He was a mess by time I finished but who cares he actually ate something and believe me when I say it has been such a long time since he has done this.So pleased and proud.
Jimjams there is something definitely in the air about yoghurt.

ThomCat · 23/07/2003 15:46
