Dd has started to crawl ( in a fashion - wormy squirm) across the room. Yesterday I had to pop upstairs for a moment and left her sitting playing with some toys. I came back and she was on her tummy facing the opposite direction, across the room at her toy box. She has now just crawled across the floor to get her hands on the remote control.

SHe also had her fist paddle in her paddling pool. It is her 1st birthday next month and we bought her the pool for that - figured we better get it early in case there it not too long to enjoy it. SHe looked so cute in her sunvest and hat splashing like mad....

Eidsvold, what a lovely post! Your dd is clearly a wee star. I'm glad you've found going back to work so good, too, and knowing that your dd is evidently going to thrive ad enjoy the company of the other children is great.

Maryz, that brought tears to my eyes. That was a really heroic act by your ds, you must be SO proud of him.

lou33 · 07/09/2003 16:39

I'm so pleased she enjoyed herself Eidsvold, but I know what you mean about wanting to be missed just a little bit .

Maryz what excellent news, you must be bursting with pride on his behalf.

Jimjams · 07/09/2003 19:14

great news eidsvold and maryz

ScummyMummy · 07/09/2003 19:29

What a absolute star of a kid you have, Maryz. That is progress of the most wonderful and heart warming kind, I think.

And great news that you and your girly are coping so well with this big transition, eidsvold.

tigermoth · 07/09/2003 22:12

maryz, that is a really fab story. You must to so proud that your son tried to hard to react differently that it actually became a physical effort. That shows so much maturity, I think.

eidsvold, your dd sounds like nothing phases her. What an intrepid lady she is!

pupuce · 07/09/2003 22:22

What a lovely story Mariz.... yes as you say progress.... that is just so sweet -- big hugs to hima and you

ThomCat · 08/09/2003 12:37

MaryZ - that very nearly made me cry and if it hadn't been for the fact that I've already been in tears once today I would have done! That's such a lovely story - bless him.

I've got a little bit of a silly proud thing myself actually - My DD blew a little plastic windmill round and learnt 2 new Makaton signs this weekend!
The blowing thing for me seemed such a big accomplishment, she just suddenly got it after trying to get her to do it for so long, she just watched her dad blow this thing round , she grabbed it from him and blew , it spun round and she was delighted with herself.
I think that has to be one of the best things about having a child with SN - as a parent we get so excited over little things like blowing, waving, anything like that because they've taken longer to master these seemingly 'basic' skills. It's wonderful not to take anything for granted and then suddenly to be rewarded by their efforts and to appreciate every tiny thing they do. It makes all the sitting around and getting to and from hospital appointments all worthwhile doesn't it.

ThomCat · 11/09/2003 10:20

Ohh, me again - with another proud moment, sorry if I'm being boring here!!

Lottie looks like she may have commando crawling sussed. She was so desperate to get to our cat or ca ca as she says that her bum came up in the air and she sort of grabbed the carpet with her finger tips and moved forward a bit. Watch this space !

fio2 · 11/09/2003 10:39

Brill TC so pleased for youSmile Im a bit proud myself because dd has had some glasses and she looks so cute in them and intelligent. But the main thing Im proud about is that she IS wearing them and not taking them off all the time!

ThomCat · 11/09/2003 10:46

Ohh, little squidger (my word for a scrummy cutie).
I bet she looks adorable, xx

doormat · 11/09/2003 10:53

great news thomcat
also to all the other littlies here that are doing so well hugs and

lou33 · 11/09/2003 18:51

Oh TC how wonderful! That's exactly how Rory started his commando crawling. There will be no stopping her now!

eidsvold · 11/09/2003 21:36

oh no TC - that is it... before you know it she will be scooting everywhere and you cannot take your eyes off her. dd is such a wriggler - she is off all over the place. She refuses to sit still - put her down to sit and she is off.... and you cannot leave her for a second or she is into something.

But fio and TC - brilliant news.....

Sorry Fio, just saw your posting. Bet she looks fantastic in her specs. Ds2 looks so cute in his I think he doesn't look dressed without them now!

fio2 · 12/09/2003 13:30

lou didnt know your ds2 had specs too! It really changes their face doesnt it? I have had take them off her today though because she has gone on her first school trip today to a special needs adventure playground. In Stoke on Trent too which is about 15 miles from here. Why am I panicing so much about it?

lou33 · 12/09/2003 19:22

Fio, have a look here . Password is bolla. Go to photo gallery and you will see him in his specs. Hope dd had a good day today.

Jimjams · 12/09/2003 19:41

I just got ds1 measured for some coloured specs yesterday (red lenses). My dad said "oh bet that was fun". In fact he'd been fine which made me realise how much he's come on. he wouldn't tolerate glasses frames on his face 3 months ago.

Congrats TC!

Gorgeous photos of all your children lou- and I love their names!

fio2 · 12/09/2003 21:10

WOW lou are your dd's gonna be models? Beautiful photos, your boys are gorgeuos too! Lovelt names like jimjams. Thanks soo much for sharing them with us louSmileSmileSmile Am I the only one now that hasn't put photos up? (must get that sorted!)

lou33 · 12/09/2003 21:20

Glad it went well Fio. Jimjams, I saw the glasses you mention when your friend was on the telly. They seemed to have an amazing effect, I hope your ds has as good a result. When do you get them?

Thanks both for the lovely comments about my kids btw .

Jimjams · 12/09/2003 21:40

We've tested him with the lenses (not in frames) and he was walking round the garden examining every leaf up close (with the other colours he was looking laughing and handing them back to me). Hopefully they'll be here end of next week.

Your kids are gorgeous! You've made me want 4 now......

lou33 · 12/09/2003 21:56

That sounds fantastic Jimjams, really pleased for your ds. Btw, my four may look like angels but the devil horns are hidden under the hair!

doormat · 19/09/2003 08:38

Lou, sorry but I could not resist a peek at your children and they are all so gorgeous.
They all have lovely names too.
