This is why I refuse to contact them by phone for updates anymore. I phoned a few weeks ago just to check some evidence had arrived- didn’t even ask for an update but before I put the phone down she said and I quote ‘it shouldn’t be too long for you- looks like there’s been a decision it’s just not cleared on the system yet’ I was so confused as it was a June MR! When I phoned back up the next day they had no idea what she was on about and it hasn’t even been looked at yet obviously.

Its bonkers isn't it and really confusing at the most inconvenient of times. It really adds to the stress of the whole process!

Some schools are useless. Our school refused to help us too. However they have now done an extensive report now. I hope you get a decision soon. Fingers crossed for you!

Yeah they are they gave me quite a bit of evidence to send off with the MR so I can only hope that whoever gets my forms reads through all the evidence properly but thank you fingers crossed you get the outcome you deserve too xx

Hi medical reports can only show so much, include all medical reports and professionals involved with your child but I would also right a statement on about how you support your child's needs on a daily basis and how your childs diagnosis affects them on a daily basis. Does your child have an EHCP or IEP? This should be included. My best advice would be Google how to prepare for tribunal, citizens advice can offer help, advicenow website that may help https://www.advicenow.org.uk/get-help/benefits/disability-living-allowance-dla/how-write-statement-dla-tribunal, I'm not sure if you have a carers centre they might be able help too.
I hope this is helpful for you in this stressful time and I pray it all goes in your favour.

How to write a statement for a DLA tribunal

If you (or someone who is helping you) are OK with writing, you should think about writing a statement for the tribunal. These can be very useful as they set out all your points, which means that you don't have to remember everything to say on the day....

No medical reports will detail the care you give them as it will only detail the issues they have. Kids can have the exact same diagnosis/medical issues and 1 can be completely reliant on an adult for everything and 1 can be very self-sufficient thats why their asking for you to detail the care needs. The reports should back up what youre saying. If a report says the child is incontinent youd obviously detail how you help them with toileting ect so on and so forth

Hey, sorry you're going through this. When I did mine, everything that I ticked yes for, I wrote how this affects him and then I wrote an example of how it affects him and don't just give the good days, if they have 3 or 4 bad days, say for 4 days they are like this and this is the support they need and detail everything. If they are incontinent, say that you have to change their bum every 4 hours and how long it takes and what would happen if you didn't do this, do they have any awareness of going toilet. If they need support dressing, how many times a day, is it full support, can they chose what to wear that is weather appropriate. If they need support eating (I can see you have SALT input) what kind of support, how long does it take, what would happen if you didn't do this. Hope this makes sense. You've got this xx

Emzi538 · 21/10/2025 09:05

Are you still waiting for your decision?

Yes, it's been with a DM a week tomorrow. 31 weeks tomorrow for a COC, just feel likes its going to be a decline at this point

Thats awful :-(
I have not seen anyone get a coc decision recently, but new claims being done in 6-7 weeks!
I did see a 18/03 award for coc tho...
Are you calling this week or waiting til after half term?

Yeah, I've not seen anything either. I'm way at the minute, but I'm back Friday, so I will call them Friday afternoon and see what is happening. I want to call earlier, but I just think what's the point

Emzi538 · 21/10/2025 10:03

The person I spoke to last week tol be to expect a 35 week minimum, we are 23wks Friday... and already kniw so many still waiting from before me , 30 weeks for us is up the 12th dec, but as so many still waiting i dont think we will hear til mid Jan:-( because the Christmas and new year holidays will delay further i think

I wasnt going to do coc but his needs have massively changed and he has to have eyes on him all the time, and during night he has a camera that alerts to any seizure activity :-/
He has to have someone with him all the time as he has no awareness of when he will get a seizure :-/ and we lost my brother to sudep :-/

Mumof1xox · 21/10/2025 10:19

Hi, has the wait time for a mandatory reconsideration increased to 30 weeks now ?

LilyTulip · 21/10/2025 11:31

I have just been told that my application is now with the team to attach a reference number. In others’ experience, how long does this part take and does this mean an award is likely?

SophiePie · 21/10/2025 11:46

Really confused this morning. SD 04/09 and settled in for a long wait. Payment this morning from DLA, no award letter yet. Thought I'd have a bit more time to send evidence as we've been waiting on a few referrals

LoudAquaViper · 21/10/2025 11:49

MR SD 22/04, full decline from a NC

NC are getting done a lot faster. If you have more evidence to send in they generally say you have 30 days when a decision is made to send of any extra evidence.

Someone on Facebook has just had their decision for COC at 31 weeks so they seem to be going the full 30 weeks now for a decision, I’m 24 weeks today so looking at early December for a decision for me, hopefully they start focusing on COC and MR and get this backlog down before Christmas so we dont have wait until next year , I didnt seen many CoC awarded last week X

New claim SD 06/03/25 and declined 26/6/25
MR 03/07/25

thanks

Are there any March/early April MR's left? Feel like they have slowed to a stop over this last week!

They will backdate to original scan date. And if you requested forms they will backdate to that date.
