Mine is 30 weeks on Tuesday for a coc and rang just and still in pile to go to a decision maker

Spoke to a lovely lady today and she explained that if you don't complete the 'child reference number' part, then after the decision maker has seen it, it goes to another department to assign the child reference number. That could be the cause of delays for some, perhaps?

The child reference is the child's ni number. If you dont claim child benefit then there can be a bit of a delay. But not that much of a delay. They contact hmrc to generate a ni for the child.

There’s still loads of March coc to do aswell. I think I’m looking at 30 weeks for a decision 😞

Absolutely ridiculous hope for your sanity its sooner

Nobody would have the reference number as the childs reference number is their national insurance number

It’s a LONG wait isn’t it 🤦‍♀️ I’m definitely starting to feel the stress of waiting now! I wonder if we might hear around the same time? Or you might even hear before me, MRs seem to be a few weeks less than coc.

I’ve not had a letter or anything in bank so I’ll call Monday to see what they say. Have you called this week? It’s starting to stress me out now and I’m only coming up to 22 weeks, things like this never normally bother me but the wait times for everything have been a joke X

I haven't called this week, I've hel off but I'm sending in some evidence tomorrow and I'll call Tuesday to make sure they've got it and then going to give it till Mid October and if I've not heard anything, I'll call again as I'll be at 30 weeks then. It's driving me crazy now, I'm so anxious and don't think we'll get it, so I know I'm probably going to have to go to MR after this, not many people seem to be getting the HMR at the min

It just baffles me how it takes so long? You would think theyd hire some more people even if its just to get through the massive amount of backlog. Im really praying ill hear by the middle of the month but I do think im being optimistic

I called at the beginning of the week but they just say they can’t give out wait times and it’s not been looked at by anyone yet. It’s strange how some people get decisions at 21 weeks and some have to wait up to 30 weeks, it’s a massive difference! I’m going to call each Tuesday now until I get a decision, I hope we all get the right award after waiting so long. I keep checking my bank, it should show pending the day after it’s been awarded if they change the award that is 😞

Hopefully this wait has been worth it and you won’t have to do a MR. Now I’m nearly 26 weeks I think it will be 30 weeks before I get a decision, I don’t know what criteria the people had that was receiving decisions at 21 weeks, but hopefully it’s because they are going to look into HRM properly before making the decisions. I don’t know how you’re coping waiting even longer than me, it’s stressing me out waiting this long.

I have a feeling they have hired new people to get the wait times down for new claims or they might just be getting new claims down and MR and COC are just building up to a bigger backlog. I never seen new claims get done in 8 weeks before, surely they need to be getting our wait times down too now. Have you had your appointment to get the new evidence to send in yet?

I've never waited this long, granted I haven't applied for anything in 5 years because thats when his last renewal was and I've still got another 2 before its due again, but it was done in the space of a week of them receiving it in 2020. I agree with the lady who's commented above saying you'd think they'd get more people to clear the backlog. I didn't know about SMI when I did the COC but I went through every question on the mobility part and if I answered yes, I wrote a statement and example of how he meets that question and then sent in evidence. I feel so anxious and I'm so happy for other people but when they get decisions at 21 weeks, it makes me wonder why we've been left, like what is their logic for not doing it in date order

Yeah I had the appointment, should have the evidence by next week so I can get that sent off. If the award isnt changed then something is seriously wrong with the system

Emzi538 · 03/10/2025 21:26

When i claimed last yr does my other child his nc took 15 almost 16 weeks, I thought a coc would be less.... but im sending off another lot of evidence this week hopefully ....but think will be least 10 weeks of so and then poss longer for us as his 30 wks up dec 12th, so will prob be more 40 weeks lol

The only things I can think it can be is that maybe we have a bigger change, alot of evidence to look through or because the hrm part needs to be looked at by a separate department? I have given them all I can to change to hrc and hrm now so I hope it’s enough 🤞 wow that’s a long award was it based on your sons age or needs he received such a long award? I shouldn’t think you have much longer left I haven’t seen them go over 30 weeks for a long time. Good luck with getting hrm

Brilliant atleast you know they’ve got everything you can give before the decision, wishing you luck with your decision, your daughter 100% should be on HRM.

I hope it doesn’t go up by that much 😵‍💫 I would be totally stressed by 40weeks! They don’t seem to like going over 30 weeks so hopefully we all receive a decision by then 🤞

I definately think you will be done before or around 30 weeks, but they seem to be taking longer, and with Christmas approaching and winter people will be off work so can see ours being done after :-/

I hate calling but I’m defo calling once a week from now on, i received a text when mine was a nc saying that the application is with reviewing team so I’m just hoping I get some sort of text when it’s with a decision maker so I know to except a letter or money going in the bank if it’s awarded. A good few where awarded on Monday but the rest of the week there has hardly been anything so wonder why that is?X

I think most of the COC awarded on Monday had their decisions made over the weekend, so it’s reassuring to know they are doing COCs over the weekend too, I haven’t received a text off them since 2023 when I first applied for my son, they used to send out generic texts and letters at the same time back then, it would be so much easier if they just updated us with progress, I’m getting fed up of calling and them giving out no information.

That’s ages, when I did it a while back as soon as it got to 4 weeks I put in a complaint and it was done in a few days, I’m not sure what the link was but if you google it it should come up.
