@ellierose99Have you still heard nothing about your new claim from June?

Nope. Called them on Friday and was told not to call back until the end of november

Curlycookie5 · 07/10/2025 10:15

@Garfieldthecat have you heard anything yet?

Minigems258 · 07/10/2025 10:18

Just had a phone call from dla. Asked questions about her claim ect said I'll know in 7-10 days. I'm going to phone up later though and ask. I got a bad feeling though

Adsumardtymes · 07/10/2025 10:19

Just checked Facebook to see what dates they’re on for M/Rs 3rd of may (uk). I’ve always had a positive response (apart from losing my evidence). From what I can gather is if you already receive a payment maybe the MR’s are taken a little bit longer than the original that have been completely declined. I I haven’t called much but I myself do you have mental health issues and can be very neurotic
at times, so I’m assuming they’re just telling me what I want to hear when I called yesterday I was told about two weeks which would take me up to the 26 week plus. But I will be checking daily 💜

I would hope this is correct but my MR is the 22/04 and I was a straight decline too. I really don’t think there is a system in place I just don’t understand how the dates can be so far away that are being picked up

I think it depends whose desk it lands on. I actually got to speak to a caseworker last month who was very nice and I genuinely do believe what they tell me. Obviously not done in date Order, but they must have a system to get through the backlog. It can’t just be random 💜

I really have no idea. I’ve never been told anything really just that it’s in a queue. That’s why I’m always so confused on how they actually get through the backlog. All I know is mines not with a DM yet 😂

Hi @PositivityRipples my MR was because on renewal they lowered him to lrc from hrc so been a stressful 6 months do you think we have to wait much longer. What about you what was your MR for 🙂 it’s taking forever isn’t it hope we hear soon xx

Morning, lots of people around that date ( end of march) got awards lowered to LRC or had new claims awarded LRC only there was atleast 4 on here when i got my award, mine was new claim awarded LRC only my child is definitely entitled to HRC and LRM so on week 27 MR now 🙄
If your award was lowered did you file the MR under financial hardship to fast track the MR cause they are the only circumstance for fast tracking so its done before all others. ( If they lower your award) if you haven't call them and ask them to do it urgently under finanicial hardship and explain the award was dropped from high to low 👏

I actually phoned up upset because my little girl scooter is that the point of breaking and she completely refuses to walk once it’s broken I can’t get her to school. She is 6 but a big 6 .like I said, I’m very neurotic lol and honest. I explained that I’m a single parent. My mum passed away recently. I’m an only child and I literally have no support.
also, I’m ADHD, which waiting It’s not usually in my vocabulary and I find it very hard. I think the call handler and the case manager was being very kind and understanding. I just need an outcome and then I can get on with my life but this waiting is driving me insane.💜

Daryl54 · 07/10/2025 11:02

@PositivityRipples morning aww I will do I did ring yesterday so will ring up again but didn’t file under financial difficulties can’t believe that all from high to low hope your child gets the award they deserve it’s been a really long wait hasn’t it I’ve sent more evidence in now of doctors so fingers crossed I also think my son should get low mobility too. When I phoned couple weeks ago too the man I spoke to said should be a week and a half for decision then rang yesterday and said still in holding Que. do they log every time we call 😂 xx

Just had the text to say my son qualifies s/d 14/8 cant believe how fast its been

ellierose99 · 07/10/2025 11:14

I guess I've done something wrong with my claim or maybe it's a decline. Other claims are 10 weeks after. It's upsetting because it took me months to fill in the forms in the first place.

Give them a call and be very honest. Explain that it’s upsetting and giving you sleepless nights. The time frame is different for everyone don’t worry too much yet 💜

CoC, sd 18.03.
It's ridiculous how long it is taking. My boy has high functioning autism, ADHD and no sense of awareness to danger. He was awarded MRC and LRM when he was 5. A year later he bolted in the park and went missing for 45 minutes, was found wandering on London underground tracks. We thank our lucky stars every single day that he was returned unharmed. However still has incidents of bolting. He is now 10, extremely strong and difficult to restrain and we are in the process of high school transitions. My own health has rapidly declined and I'm struggling with painful and clicking joints, all in places from fractures obtained from restraining my little one. I tried to do a CoC at the time but was told his entitlement will remain the same because his needs "weren't that different to another 6 year old". I didn't have the mental strength at the time to appeal. It isn't just dealing with everyday meltdowns and difficulties, the hardest part is having to deal with strangers and outsiders who present with unwanted comments and judgement.
He is good with a 1.1 and relies on strict routines. Without a HRC entitlement he won't a get place in the autism unit at the local high school. Took me over a month to get his form done too with a report from everyone who is involved. He has been suspended from primary school many times and I'm dreading high school.
Hopefully a decision is made asap, as need to hand it in to the council. Of course, completely depends on whether DWP will agree with us to begin with. Wishing everyone on this forum good luck and hope you all get the entitlements you and your children deserve 💛

Thank you. I did call and was told not to call again until the end of next month. My biggest worry is that I'll have to do an MR as that seems to be even longer of a wait.

Hippydippymum · 07/10/2025 12:25

I rung up today to see if birth cert has been received (they signed for it today at 1am apparently and not scanned yet) but they have it. Apparently someone is looking at my claim NC 14/8 scanned, does anyone know how long it is after someone is looking at it? Hoping and praying.

Have you gotten any legal advice on the councils claim they need HRC for a specialist place as that really sounds quite dodgy if not an illegal policy. Do they have an ehcp?

Yes, he does have an EHCP. The provision we’re applying for is a small specialist autism base attached to a mainstream secondary school. It’s designed for pupils who can access parts of the mainstream curriculum but still need a quieter environment, structured routines, and continuous 1:1 or small-group support.
There are only four new places offered each year, so competition is extremely high. While High Rate Care isn’t an official legal requirement, the local authority tends to informally prioritise children with HRC as evidence of significant and ongoing needs. It’s one of those frustrating “unwritten rules” that parents end up having to challenge.
My son’s current school has had to hold emergency EHCP reviews every single year for the past six, which reflects just how consistent and complex his needs have been. He’s had multiple exclusions, has no sense of danger, and requires constant supervision.
Unfortunately, even with laws and policies in place, autistic children are still far too often neglected or misunderstood within the system. What should be a fair process often turns into a long fight for basic support — something most of us parents know all too well.
Hopefully things start moving soon, but in the meantime, I really appreciate the chance to share and hear from others who understand what this process is like 💛

I think you should seriously consider asking for the emergency review and going to tribunal at this point (put on the form it's a phase transfer). Although they can't technically put the ARP in section I as it's just a school name, going through the tribunal process might finally show the council that you are the parent that does know how to fight rather than relying on the reviews. It shouldn't be that way but allowing them to use this illegal policy and having had that many reviews without a tribunal threat (forgive me if you have done that before) might be them seeing well we ll give one of the 4 places to the 4 parents that have go a tribunal application in or are going to get ombudsman compensation.

I went through asking 12 private EPs to get a report for my son's EHCP as my LA ignores complaints entirely about delays and wouldn't bump my son up the list to see their own EP even though he was a phase transfer (the LA paid the bill for the private EP) and hours of phone calls chasing them with some quotes of the send code of practice later and a threat of a judicial review at one point. He got offered one of the 11 reception/year 1 places in our first choice sen school, they even agreed transport when we re just under 2 miles away. I had just made a reputation of myself that they weren't getting away with anything from day 1. It's horrendous but I think it's the only way to win.
