Did you change your circumstances that your now a carer Not just in your journal? It does seem very common to get 1 before the other though.

Yea both on the same day and got a journal message today that there sending it to dm for disabled child element and careers element and I only asked for the carers element because I’ve already had back pay from disabled child element

Leilaa26 · 12/07/2025 07:52

Good morning everyone quick question about uc backpay of disabled child element my daughter receives hrc we were awarded from 11/11/2024 does this look correct? I worked it out different or am I being thick 😩

Hi, me again 😔 am I right in assuming that I can’t get anything from UC because my little one only received low rate care? I tried to report a change but it only said about medium or high rate care

StanleyParents · 12/07/2025 09:13

I think UC is going to be annoyed with me!

12 year old daughter just got DLA on the 7th July for MRC and LRM - scan date was the 27th March - reported change and added myself as her carer.

17 year old daughter just got PIP on the 11th July for Enhanced rate care and low rate mobility scan date of 16th May - reported change 11th.

If im correct my next UC statement should include
158.76 for middle daughter
495.87 for eldest daughter
202.68 for being a carer

Our qualifying dates are from the 21st to the 20th

Expecting 3 months backpay for Middle and Carer (£1084.32)
Expecting 1 months backpay for eldest daughter (£495.87)

Only took 2 days to confirm our children back in April when my son went from MRC to HRC, so hopefully all done before next statement.

Having the backpay come in ASAP would be amazing but im not holding my breath, im also not expecting the amounts advertised (1580.19) but that would make summer so much better!

Good morning
This doesn't look right, was this a New Claim. If so they should pay you the higher rate of the disability child element, from the dates stated unless you owe some money and they have deducted it.i would call them on Monday x

Yes I thought so! They’ve made me feel crazy on my journal I asked if deductions were taken and they had no idea what I was talking about I’ll definitely ring them on Monday x

You would receive the disabled child element but wouldn’t be entitled to the carers element on LRC x

you should still qualify for the disbabled child element, but not carers allowance or carers element unfortunately.

Please fight this, You need this for your son, I understand its been a year since first applying but he deserves high rate, or at the very least middle rate. Im sorry this has been a long road for you, but will all be worth it in the end.

Have you been given a back dated payment as of yet? Was it the full 55 weeks since initial application or only 28 weeks of mr?

Hi, yes it was for the full 55weeks. I think I’m going to contact citizens advice for help and to see if it’s worth appealing. We were only awarded for two years so after all the waiting it’s 10 1/2month until renewal from now, we wouldn’t even get an appeal date in that time. I got his statement of reasons today and basically it just says he doesn’t need any more care than any other child his age, even though he’s up most of the night in pain and needs to be massaged, he can’t walk up and down stairs without help etc but the one that annoyed me most was that one of his hospital letters the consultant had wrote that he likes to play football with his brother! Fs, he’s 3yr old and is going to try and do things that every other child his age does, they haven’t factored in that he has to stop after a short time because of the pain, that he wakes several times in the night with pain etc even though I wrote all of these things in a statement, there’s hospital letters saying he wakes often and needs massages and pain meds to get him bk to sleep but they’ve totally disregarded that 😤

They've declined children for higher rates for showing emotions! I seen on FB a person's 13 year old was declined HRM because he is 'smiling and happy' and another because the 11/12 year old was happy watching peppa pig! Its like they expect disabled children to sit in a corner rocking back and forth with zero emotions or interest in anything, and its disgusting and extremely ableist on the dwps part

Backdated payment came through today after being awarded on Sunday and calling on Monday.

Now they long wait for UC lol

My uc has taken a week! Payment is due Tuesday and I only did my changes last Monday when I called and found out my son was awarded.
I think it depends on your area

Vornyxo · 13/07/2025 11:40

Hi guys, I amNew here. NC scan date 19/6.
Originally requested forms in Jan and sent back feb 8th. Called for update in may to be told they hadn't received original forms and they would send new forms out and leave a note on the system.
New forms sent back and scan date 19/6, message said 25 week wait. In for a long one so just going to forget about it for now. Limited evidence sent off as DS is undiagnosed. Sent dr reports from every time I've taken him regarding Quiery Autism, lack of sleep and not eating to then turning completely non verbal (by choice) report from self referal to SPACE where the lady did and assessment and referred to CAHMS. Which does state that I have been asking for a referal since he was 3 (he is now 13) has had to leave school as they weren't supportive of his needs, is awake for almost 22 hours a day, goes days without eating, only speaks selectively (which is in the space referal document) and has been in and out of hospital since he was 22 weeks old with low bloods sugars (,in a coma at weeks) under metabolic peads and dieticians. Awaiting peads to help with sleep and support working that space has allocated has suggested we go for full NDD assessment (referal made) and an EHCP. Have sent his report as extra evidence this week. Hoping this will be enough.
Good luck to all still waiting 🤍

Haze87 · 13/07/2025 13:56

@Vornyxo Sounds like my daughter she’s also 13 not in school anymore - we are on original scan date 9/7/24 declined January 2025, Now MR scan date 22-1 23 weeks tomorrow see what happens
sent in CAMHS suspected adhd , suspected Autism, never sleeps sent in diary. Referred for EHCP this is all since the MR. It’s been a long year wait and still waiting.
Good luck 🤞🏽

Oh wow i am sorry that you had to do an MR, it's crazy some of the declined reasons that other mums at the center my son goes to have told me about.
Doesnt give me much hope that my son will be awarded but like every thing else on this journey we wait and fight if neccesary.

I really hope your MR for your girl is successful and the wait and stress isn't too hard on you 🤍

Awww thank you me 2 - I’m struggling to get her assessed as she’s not in school it’s a viscous circle as she can’t go back to a main as it sent her into self harming. Il keep you posted with mine and fingers crossed for us all :)

MR 26 weeks on Tuesday hopefully this is the week 🤞

My sons renewal was due to end this weekend 12/7 and we received our decision in May, he stayed on the same rates MRC and LRM for another 2 years

Loz21biu · 14/07/2025 08:14

awaiting NC from April sent it all SALT, child’s LP and Support Plan from school. Statements from Senco and Class Teacher, referral for suspected ASD/ADHD and the letter of acceptance, he is 9 though so unsure if he’ll be accepted but frustrating the waiting game, I called Friday but was not with dm yet

I know this isn’t a thread for pip but was this the first time claiming pip for your daughter? 8 weeks is so quick. I know someone waiting after changing over to pip from Dla and they are wondering how long they will be waiting.

s39 · 14/07/2025 08:39

MR 22/1 25 weeks on Wednesday
Good luck to everyone hope this is our week x
@Sairr @Scc1991 let me know how you get on please hope you hear back this week the wait is so long!
